Hedge Knight (5/8)

  1. Finally, the importance of Lyanna and Rhaegar is discussed, giving the audience some much needed hints as to where the story might be headed. This alone bumps the episode significantly for me.
  2. Wait, are you implying that the skeleton fight in Jason and the Argonauts is terrible?
  3. I would've given the episode an 8.5, but I was generous and rounded up. It was good television. All of it.
  4. I've thought about this and I'd honestly think that british actor Michael Wincott would make the perfect Euron Greyjoy.
  5. It was the best episode of the season so far. I gave it a strong 8/10. The last scene was a highlight for me. It answered some questions while inviting some new ones. I love to be surprised as a book reader.
  6. Jaime was upset over the rape of Elia and her children. He saved Brienne from rape at the expense of his hand. At one point he says that, if he were a woman, he would rather die than be raped. In this episode he goes on to rape Cersei in the sept. There is no argument to be made here, by the way, because it was obviously rape. This undermines his character to start with, as well as the development that he's gone through since the second season. Now I know how Stannis fans feel.
  7. I gave the last episode an eight and I gave this one a seven. My hatred for Joffrey isn't so great that his death overshadows all the flaws in the episode. There are many small things that I loved though---e.g. the look of understanding on Oberyn's face when he saw Sansa's grief and humiliation during the jousting, Olenna Tyrell's subtle reaction as Tyrion lifts up Joffrey's cup and brings it to him, Cersei's questioning of Brienne, etcetera.
  8. Most people love the show as it is. The reason I'm emphasizing this is that, for some reason, people have got the impression that most book readers find it severely lacking. This is probably not the case. Let me point out that the series has sold twenty million books and that not all book readers bother to visit this forum. This is mostly a place where loudmouths such as myself can gather to discuss and complain. Also, even among us loudmouths the show has been received extremely well. Never has the amount of people who rated an episode 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7, ever been greater than the amount of people who gave the same episode a rating of 8, 9, or 10 -- when taken together. This does not necessarily entail that the show is of a good quality of course, but it is at least a prima facie indicator that it is. :)
  9. This episode was among the most epic and engaging things I've ever seen on television. At the moment, I can't even take seriously the suggestion that this is worth less than a 9 or a 10. It gets the latter score from me. It is one of the brightest highlights from the whole series.
  10. Very good point. I actually saw people on facebook claiming that the sex in the books were so much more erotic and sensual than in the show. I just had to laugh. I suppose it's a matter of human nature that makes people more easily offended by what they see than what they read...
  11. I've read all the books and I thought the episode was good. I'm not expecting great episodes until the latter part of the season though. Honestly, I don't mind a few changes here and there. It's not because I didn't like how the books were written originally, I just don't think the changes are that big of a deal yet. Overall, I think the show is fantastic, even when considered as an adaption rather than a free standing entity. I'm sure George would agree. It's his world and even he's more relaxed about it than you guys are.
