Episode 4 worked the best at this point, as it diverged from a specific event within the confines of the established movies. That's when this version of What If seems to work best...

Episode one of What If...animation, concept, general story...all perfectly acceptable, fine even, despite being. Guardians story...but then it goes and features Howard the Duck...ugh... Episode two? Another (adjacent) Guardians story...? Ugh. Episode three was kinda fun...

I don't dislike her conclusions, but I'm also of a mind that one, "trusts but verifies" when it comes to history and biographies. The book is also approaching 20 years old now, so it stands to reason there'd be nore and/or varied assertions/assumptions/conclusions by now. Thus, I keep reading...

I realize there is likely strong thoughts from more learned folks on here but there is something, for some odd reason, soothing listening to the unabridged version of Doris Goodwin's Team of Rivals. It's certainly better than the recent Meachum Lincoln biography. And it does what I need it to do: inform, yet make me seek additional confirmation from additional sources... It's oddly something that's easy to listen to multiple times....

Oh hell no. The Rudy story needs to be a Netflix series in the style of The Crown...but stupider...

Have you paid any attention at all to what he says he wants to do? There won't be any impeachment because there likely won't be a functioning Congress or Court because he's going to simply ignore all of that...

Biden is going to be the Dem candidate. He is the current POTUS and him running, age not withstanding, isn't going to change. Remember, love him, hate him, think he might be kinda your guy, but you'd rather have the hunky guy working out at the gym around the corner...it doesn't matter. You're not voting for Biden. You're voting for the ability to be able to vote again in 2028 and beyond (actually 2026, because elections will likely stop by then). The bonus is, regardless of age, there's been some good movement on some issues under Biden, despite not having control of Congress. But now, next year, we're voting for him and the Democrats to ensure we get to keep voting. Re-elect the man first and foremost. Let the succession talk shake out after January 20th, 2025.

Maybe not exactly what I'd expected...but it worked. And they did at least go straight into a follow up and not let it lie for 2 or 3 episodes. I actually liked it as a riff on the mind blower episode too. Mind Blowers meets Interdimensional Cable...

Glad you seem to like things. Certainly hard to tell. But if you can't see that your fallback once you criticize something is to complain loudly that is the fault is adding women, or POC, or flipping a gender role...well, that's on you. Because anytime you dislike, outright hate on, something it's a pretty good indication for the rest of us to take a better look at the property and make our own decisions about it.

A little Doom 2099? And I do think outside possible to tell a good FF story, but it's a pretty small needle to thread. The FF isn't like Spider-Man, who doesn't have to have his origin told every time out, but stopping to explain how the FF came to be can really weigh down the ways they can be interesting...

Most of the Marvel shows have been just fine in the overall. I acknowledge that there are some issues here and there with most of them, but that happens with so many shows. The biggest issues with the shows remains the streaming service model of pumping out shows, often without the kind of production oversight you used to have on a 24 episode season of an older network show. So many of those old shows mentioned above, that started out "poor" but got better? They had people who believed in them, and more importantly, they had time to tell their stories...not 6 episodes of 45 to 50 minutes per episode, or maybe 10 or 13 episodes that ran maybe 23 to 25 minutes...fox the streaming model, fix a lot of televisions woes, not just Marvel's... (And Guardians 3 was still just as meh as the first two, regardless of how much money may have been made...)

There was an unofficial smoking area on my HS campus also, though just on the other side of a fence, so technically off campus. When putting together the senior issue of our school paper, my friend who did the full page cover drawing, did this fantastic over image look down on the school as though it was more of a medieval castle (mascot was the Knights) and one of his Easter eggs was a bonfire with a couple figure standing around it in the location of where the smoking area was...

Ah...but those watching the college game are watching because it's young, predominantly African American men playing a game they're not being paid to play, they're (mostly until recently I think) not allowed to be paid, and they're really not going to be paid...it's another form of control for all those southern white "fans"... But maybe I'm reading that wrong...
