  1. I thought this was going to be another damned Daylight Savings thread...
  2. There was an unofficial smoking area on my HS campus also, though just on the other side of a fence, so technically off campus. When putting together the senior issue of our school paper, my friend who did the full page cover drawing, did this fantastic over image look down on the school as though it was more of a medieval castle (mascot was the Knights) and one of his Easter eggs was a bonfire with a couple figure standing around it in the location of where the smoking area was...
  3. Ah...but those watching the college game are watching because it's young, predominantly African American men playing a game they're not being paid to play, they're (mostly until recently I think) not allowed to be paid, and they're really not going to be paid...it's another form of control for all those southern white "fans"... But maybe I'm reading that wrong...
  4. I knew there'd be another one...I just had no idea it was at this point! This excites me.
  5. I was always impressed when I'd read something Avengers and there'd be an image of an explosion over near the Baxter Building, and you'd get an editorial note to head over to pick up the latest FF to see what was going on... There was a time where the books were just tighter in general, if not direct, in aspects of continuity. Until Wolverine started guesting in any and every book, writers had to have legitimate reasons for someone crossing over...
  6. Isn't the supposed plot of Captain America 4 supposed to have something to do with the Celestial hand...? And Eternals would have worked better if it had been set in the 19th century...barring the hand thing...and had them end it in a way that put them all on ice of some sort to explain away them missing in the present and leaving them available if needed for more later on, but nicely tucked away in case the film didn't work...
  7. Ross out. Counsel in. Craziness is afoot in the NL Central...
  8. Well, Damn. Didn't realize they'd dropped a new Ready Room with the end of Lower Decks.
  9. Can you really say the character has fallen flat when the character in question has not been the same one in any subsequent appearances? Thought I'd seen somewhere there was some sort of directive for Majors to NOT be playing things the same all the time...? Can't remember for certain. But that would actually make sense for it to be that way. He Who Remains was a strong representation who was about guile as much as power. Kang in Quantumania was more the despotic, mad villain of the early 80s Kang from the Stern "Avengers" run, while Victor Timely...that's something else entirely. I mean, whether you like the character or not, if you have followed the MCU through all of this and then suddenly the supposed big bad of the coming films seems bumbling and almost likable...makes you wonder what curtain is being pulled back at the end of the last episode of Loki to cement the nature of what we're supposed to expect from Kang going forward. One doesn't have to think that it's a plan that's gone smoothly, but it's easy to accept (for me) that they were trying to set something up to raise the stakes of supposed menace...let's see if that happens... And then recast the character and move the eff forward.
  10. That..that's just plain evil...I mean, diabolical unless you believe keeping Howard as Rhodey would have tanked the MCU before it got going, because that's what would have happened. That guy was just so wooden in the part... And I'm generally enjoying Loki, but wonder again if the streaming model of such limited episodes isn't hurting the ability to tell a proper story.
  11. Recast him. Terrence Howard as Rhodey still exists and no one cares. Recast him. Move forward.
  12. Since the show was delayed, isn't it most likely a result of that extra time adjusting what they want and dropping it all at the same time?
  13. Oh this looks interesting. I suspect it's flaw is the time it took to get out post Hawkeye though. Who remembers Echo? That's a hurdle that has to be overcome. Then again, perhaps it'll be a blessing as people will look at it with a fresh eye. I very much want the "street level" shows to succeed... At least, I'll be watching... (And yeah, that was a kinda violent trailer for Disney+...here's hoping that the level is sustained in a manner that makes sense...)
  14. Also, what was the name of, and the class, of the ship Mariner commandeered...?
  15. Drop this here. Seems appropriate.
  16. The explanation doesn't quite capture the bit of scandal it's caused also. If Sanders were a Democray, she'd already be getting removed from office...the cover up was so dumb, it's brilliant Republicanism...
  17. Also was feeling like they're playing more with canon right there within a seeming stand alone.
  18. Two episodes into The Fall of the House of Usher...and it is so freaking twisted...
  19. Right. Something else is going on that we don't know yet...
  20. I didn't think it was that bad...though I see the criticism of it feeling off on pacing and such... But there is something more to that whole elevator scene we returned to from the first episode...
  21. I have zero idea what the actual plan could be and if it'll make sense...but it might tie nicely into the idea you suggest about the abandoned Sito idea...
  22. Not just an obscure character, but getting the proper actor to voice him...where they go with it, that'll be fun. We're we already aware of some of that Mariner back story? Or was that all kind of sudden? I can't remember. The episode as a whole had some seemingly convenient convergences, but at the same time, pulling threads from all kinds of Trek history/Canon. I liked it a lot.
