  1. I thought it was a good transitional episode. There's a new boss or bosses in town and that's the series' writers. There's a lot of consolidation, simplification, and plain old skipping of scenes and characters. I still love the series, although it is different from the books in some aspects. They still keep the spirit of the books, even if they don't follow the letter exactly.
  2. Why on earth did they take the wildfyre idea fron Tyrion to give it to Cersei? It was one of Tyrion's best ideas as Hand?
  3. I'm not sure about this shadow business CGI. It reminded too much of The Mummy.
  4. I said it before, but I thought that the shadow baby looked like a dementor as it took off.
  5. Setting up the Tyrion and Sansa relationship, I see. Harenhall is as horrible as I envisioned.
  6. I thought it was brilliant how they showed that Loras' weak spot is his sister, while Renly's is Loras. I guess Jamie isn't the only one with a sister thing.
  7. Regarding Sansa: she wasn't incorrect about anything that she said about handmaidens. I felt bad for her because she is absolutely alone in that damned place. Someone knocked at her door and it was like "what now?" "what more do I have to deal with?" Had they not just discussed killing her brother? My head would have exploded with that knock at the door. I don't blame her at all for being sharp.
  8. Producers didn't capture decrepit frozan haunted mansion feel of Craster's keep. Too many chairs, clean and lucid Craster. Not the total chaos of chickens living indoors and utter disaster with too many people and filth. Maybe they spruced the place up in expectations of having visitors.
  9. I just thought of one. Mayhaps I has been noted before. When Jon was stabbed, it reminded of Ceasar's death. Brutus may have participated in this effort, but the crime was perpetrated by several members of the Senate in order to symbolize an act agreed by all.
  10. I don't know if this has already been mentioned, but Charles Martel was Charlemagne's grandfather. He is considered to be instrumental in the establishment of the feudalist system in Europe. The era of knights began with him. He was known as " The Hammer." Maybe GRRM's choice of Martell as the name of a house is related to this, even though its weapon is the spear.
  11. I saw the series on HBO first, and then read all the books and have been hounding my son to watch it on HBO GO (awesome app). I had told him that he'd be confused about the houses, etc., but that all would become clear in time. He called me yesterday to tell me that he'd watched the first episode. He was confused because there had been a lot of strife, and someone had been beheaded, and these little dragons were on this lady..... ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!! YOU IDIOT SAW THE LAST EPISODE FIRST!!!! I told him that it was like never watching Star Wars and starting with the "Luke, I am your father" scene. What a moron!! I just had to share this.
