  1. --Theon. In the past I kept thinking they had to work Theon into this season, as it wouldn't work having Alfie Allen absent for possibly two whole seasons. Audience would forget about him, he could get work in another series etc. But enough is enough, these Theon torture scenes are beyond tiresome at this point. There's a good reason why George didn't give Theon a POV chapter in ASOS; because there's nothing interesting about an arc that only involves one character being tortured over and over. Also, I'm not sure why they haven't revealed who Ramsay is yet. It's not like it's a big twist or anything; he's the bastard of a so far pretty minor character--big whoop.

I gave it a seven. I don't know how else they could have had Theon go from a prince to a disgusting creature like Reek, without showing us the torture. Television is a visual medium, Theon can't just give us an aside in future seasons explaining what happened to him, they would have had to use flashbacks, and that wouldn't work either. I am hoping it is over, now that he has lost some fingers and that ... other thing.
  2. Jaime killing Alton is NO problem with me. Don't you guys remember all the times Jaime talked about killing Brienne in his mind to escape? So why wouldn't he kill Alton to escape.

Yes, the whole cousin who looked up to him made it more brutal than usual, but don't act like its a HUGE deviation from his character.

And the whole cousin/kinslayer thing is being way overplayed. He is just a lannister of Lannisport, not of the rock. If Jamie is a Kinslayer for killing him, then Robb Stark was a kinslayer in the books for killing Karstark. I think the kinslayer riff is for more immediate family.

  3. Does anyone have a theory as to what the gate was for. We know from the books that the shadow could not get through to storms end because of socery built into the walls, so Davos had to get Mel under the castle. Here Renley was in a tent, that didn't seem that close to the sea.

Did they film it anticipating a storms end scene later, or just do it because it looks and sounds so cool.

  4. I've got a question. The others haven't been seen for 8,000 years, yet Craster is giving his sons to them and has presumbly been doing so for years. Were they just waiting till they had enough of Craster's sons to create an army? The rangers have been visiting Craster for years but only now the others are going after everyone.

  5. I think Asha/Yara was perfectly cast. Read some people on other sites saying she wasn't beautiful enough. To me she was perfect, hot but with a Tomboy kind of imperfect look. Real athletic looking. The ship captains daughter was perfect too. Meh looking (but not chubby enough) and dumb as a box of rocks. The Roz scene could go. I defended the role, but now don't see the point. Bronn as city watch commander makes sense, no reason for another character there. Also could live without having to show the Mel/Stan sex scene, but I guess that is to explain the shadow killing of Renly in the next ep or two.

I'm also not a big complainer about deviating from the book, but I wonder how they are going to write the next episode after Craster knocks out Jon. I can't see the watch leaving after Craster brained him.
