  1. True, though she already got the better of Varys once; when he sent spies to Dragon Stone.
  2. Mel as Master of Whispers, would be better than even Varys, IMO. She can literally see future threats to her king, before they happen. Davos as Hand would be really good as well. The guy is as loyal and honorable as Ned Stark.
  3. I often get annoyed with GRRM, because every time a Stark does something amazing it’s usually off page, in the main series, or a flashback from long ago.
  4. Hayden Christensen's acting hurt my head. I miss the guy from the Clone Wars cartoon, because Hayden just can't emote very well. I sort of wish the vision ended with Ahsoka getting knighted.
  5. Just saying, other options did exist.
  6. So the Watch didn't know Renly was killed? Surely they would have known about the Battle of the Blackwater. Dam this timeline is confusing.
  7. I mean Robb was pretty overwhelmed when those letters were sent. He was crowned king of the Riverlands and North, was waging war on the Lannisters, got married, lost the Freys, found out the North was being invaded by the Iron Born, found out that Winterfell was burnt to the ground and his brothers were dead, lost a third of his army at Duskendale, had to deal with Jamie's escape, had to deal with Karstarks betrayal, needed to scramble to get the Freys back on his side and finally had to come up with a will as to who would succeed him, now that Sansa was married to Tyrion. I think I covered everything. I often wonder if George liked to torture Robb in that third book. That doesn't leave a lot of room to help the Night's Watch.
  8. Not true, Tywin was scared Stannis might go to Dorne and try to convince the royal family to join his rebellion. The Dornish do come very close to rebelling in AFFC's, so this was indeed a possibility.
  9. They could have sent a letter to Balon after he was crowned as well. It's never said they sent all of the letters at the same time.
  10. Stannis only gets the letter, when Davos reads to him. Maester Pylos choose to never give the letter to Stannis. Once Davos gives Stannis the letter, he leave at once. We're told the Night's Watch sent letters to all 5 kings and only one of those five choose to help them and it wasn't Renly.
  11. Robb would still have to deal with the Iron Born, before he could help The Watch. Possibly Balton and the Freys as well, if they still choose to rebel, after Robb got married.
  12. I mean you're not wrong, but we never once see Renly or any of the other kings addressing the real threat of The Others. Stannis is only attacking Balton, because it's stupid to leave one enemy in front of you and another behind and when compared to The Others, the Baltons are the weak enemy. I doubt Renly would have faced or even believed in The Others until they were passed the Wall, in which case it's basically too late to stop them; assuming the books don't have some BS plot device like killing the leader kills all of them, lol
  13. Does Renly even believe in The Others? We never really are shown Renly saying anything about the Night's Watch. For all of his many flaws, at the very least Stannis knows that The Others are the real enemy and is the only king actively trying to help the Night's Watch.
  14. Yea, but the guy is also full of crap, a lot of times also. Advising Stannis to take Kings Landing and how easy it would be, because Tyrion is such a weak and stupid Hand. I trust his info as conjecture at best.
  15. Nothing major as of yet, but it's clear they are a powder cage waiting to go off. You actually think the High Sparrow is anything less than an insane zealot? The history books make it pretty clear what happened the last time, the Faith had it's own military and the high sparrow loves what they did.
  16. I mean the season 1 final is amazing, but again to each their own.
  17. I mean thanks to Cersei the Faith of the Seven, is back to doing f'd up stuff. Every religion in the series has it's dark parts, just like the real world, lol Plus the R'hllor religion isn't all so bad. Thoros and Beric seem like really nice and honorable guys and they worship the red god. I'm not a huge fan of Mel either, but I blame her using the religion as an excuse to do the f'd up things she does, than I do the religion itself.
  18. The one thing I don't like about Renly, is the fact that he doesn't believe in the incest and is just taking the crown, because he wants it. It's not even a survival thing, because he could have linked up his army with Stannis or Robb, without ever declaring himself king. Instead he takes advantage of Robb and Tywin fighting each other, to gain power for himself.
  19. China's also had more civil wars, than any other nation on this planet, as a result of that.
  20. In short turn, he would have been a good thing, I'm sure about long term. I like Renly, he seems like a decent guy, and progressive. Also he doesn't believe in the incest, so would he murder Joff, Tommen, Myrcella? I mean Joff I can understand, since he's pure evil, but the other two are adorable. I suppose he could send Tommen to the Night's Watch and Myrcella to the Silent Sisters, but that's pretty bad in and of itself, since he's basically selling his kind niece and nephew into servitude of the state, for the crime of being born.
  21. Did he? I find that strange, since he has no issue giving Queens POV's. Also I recall him regretting not making Robb a POV.
  22. To each their own, but I really liked Clone Wars. I watched it all during lock down and it was honestly some of the best Star Wars I've seen in ages. Anakin actually felt like a hero, which is something Lucas was never able to accomplish.
  23. True, I just don't get George's logic when it comes to not giving characters like Stannis and Doran, POV chapters. In book one we were in Ned's mind quite a lot and that guy has quite a lot of secrets still hidden, when he died, so it can't be that. The whole thing just feels strange to me.
  24. I know in the Legion of Doom meeting, at the end of season 3 of Mando, one of the admirals, mentions "project necromancer", I WONDER WHAT HE COULD POSSIBLY BE TALKING ABOUT. I hate that Dave Filoni now has to try and make sense out of Abrams horrible writing. Couldn't they have just given him the sequel trilogy from the start? The guy honestly loves Star Wars, more than a hack fraud like Abrams, who is basically the master of remaking classic films, only much worse and less interesting.
  25. I've read that as well and it becomes more and more noticeable on rereads of the series.
