  1. ADWD is easily my least favorite of the series. The Mereenese knot is beyond boring and gives me headaches whenever I reread it. It also feels like a side story, given how nearly everything important to the story seems to be happening in Westeros.
  2. For me Tyrion gets boring the second Jorah returns to the story. I like Jorah, but George just spent too much time with Jorah and Tyrion doing nothing. The boat chapters with them were ridiculous.
  3. He’s literally leading his ships against the Redwyne fleet when last we see him.
  4. Hey, I thought I was the only one. I love AFFC's, and I agree Jon's chapters become beyond boring after a while, same with Dany and Tyrion for me. It feels like all of the minor characters get to shine though. I also really love the one Dorne chapter we got and the few Cersei/Jamie chapters.
  5. Honestly, I think the series just got too big for him.
  6. It also helps that Gunn storyboards his own films and has mentioned that he shoots almost everything he puts in his storyboards. He's a pretty decent artist and mentioned if he didn't go on to be a director, he would be making either comics or video games. Taika Waititi by comparison, has mentioned that he almost never storyboards his films.
  7. Not true at all. Euron for example is currently fighting on the front lines with his men. He's not safely staying at Pyke, while his generals do all his fighting for him, the way Balon did.
  8. It's funny, how even the small things with the CGI they get wrong. For example Rocket and Groot look like crap in Thor 4, even though they were hardly in the film and the CGI artists were simply using the same models from Infinity War and End Game. Now fast forward about one year and suddenly Rocket and Groot look amazing in GotG vol 3; heck Rocket's face has more emotion in it, than ever before. I think Gunn just understands human emotion very well. I saw this interview with him a few months ago, when he went over his original plans for the backstory on how Rocket met the original Groot. How the original Groot was treated more like an animal, than a person and how the new Groot by comparison grew up as a member of a family and loves Rocket, Quill and Drax as if they were his fathers and Gamora and Mantis as if they were his mothers. He was getting very emotional over a character, that is basically just a CGI effect, that says three lines. If he cares so much about a character like that, I'd trust him with anyone.
  9. Most of those "accomplishments" seem rather minor in my book. The fact that he didn't even fight in both of his rebellions, honestly makes the guy seem a bit like a coward in my book.
  10. He seems like a nice guy. I love him for humiliating Tywin alone. I don't blame him for what happened the way Robb did, because there was no way he could have known; Robb really should have shared his plans with him. He was literally attacking Tywin to keep him away from Robb and all his men. He also loves and protects his smallfolk; I could love him for that lone.
  11. Euron's a lot smarter and a lot more dangerous than you give him credit for. The guy knows that the key to taking over Westeros is Dany's dragons. He also has the use of ancient Valyrian technology/magic, which gives him a big advantage over the other kings. On top of that, he's a smart tactician, both coming up with the plans to burn Lannisport and take the Shield Islands. On a separate topic; why did you leave Faegon off your list of kings/queens? Do you think we've not seen enough of him to learn what his motives for becoming king are?
  12. Not really. Pleanty of things happen on the show, that never happen on the books. It's like seeing Sansa get raped on the show; I really hope that doesn't happen in the novels.
  13. I think George sort of realizes he wrote Balon as a complete loser and has Aaron give a brief montage of why Balon is so great, in his first AFFC's chapter. All of his "accomplishments" seem rather minor to everyone except Aaron though; who thinks these things make him as awesome as Robert.
  14. GRRM also changes his mind all the time. Just go read his notes from the original versions of AFFC and ADWD.
  15. Stannis wont burn Shireen and assuming she does burn, it will be Mel who does it; possibly as a means to bring Jon Snow back to life.
  16. There will be no second Dance of the Dragons. People keep saying this is going to happen, but I doubt it.
  17. James Gunn mentioned that he never wanted to make a Star Wars film, but rather a movie that made people feel the same way Star Wars made him feel as a kid.
  18. Part of my enjoyment with GotG vol 3, was the fact that it was the first MCU movie, since Covid, where I honestly felt everyone was onset together. No one seemed green screened in. I really liked No Way Home, but you can tell a lot of the actors were not on set during certain scenes. It was even worse with Doctor Strange 2 and was laughably bad with Ant Man 3; with William Jackson Harper's scenes in particular.
  19. I wonder if Mel would advise Stannis to defeat Tywin, before attacking Kings Landing.
  20. This episode reminded me of a level in Mass Effect and I mean that in a good way. In Mass Effect 2, there's a mission where a colony called Horizon is being attacked by the Collectors, who are abducting the colonists. Really good episode. I just worry we're going to have to wait a long time for the second part, because of this dam writers/actors strike.
  21. Mel would probably have warned Stannis about the great chain as well and tell him to take both towers, before going into the city. Heck even one tower would be enough, I doubt one tower alone would have been enough to lift that heavy chain.
  22. If anything GotG vol 3, convinced me that James Gunn is about to give us the best Superman movie, ever. That movie made me cry over talking CGI animals.
