  1. I've put my plans on hold for now. I'm seeing some major flaws in the book that I'm just not sure how to fix, plus I had a thought about another book that I wrote that I really liked but was missing something and I think I figured out what that missing something was. Now it's just a question of deciding if it's worth jumping back into an almost ground up rewrite for something I shopped fruitlessly already. Or find something else to write. These are the waters.
  2. I will sir. I still haven't fully committed to it yet, but I'm strongly considering it. I've been writing a lot of non-fantasy stuff so I figured you wouldn't be interested in beta reading. BTW how's your writing going?
  3. It's been a while since I've posted but I think I've decided to release one of my books on my own. I'm in the process of securing a cover artist. I'm only going to release it as an ebook and see how it does. It's my first "real" book and the one that got me not one but two agents over the course of its existence and got kind of spoiled by the second agent. That's a long story not worth telling. I think I'm only doing it to see what happens. I dunno, am I crazy?
  4. Look, I'm 48. Been repped by an agent not once but twice and I'm looking again. Every so often I wonder if this whole thing has passed me by.....but I'm not going to quit. There's no age limit on dreams.
  5. Alright, I don't know if this is the right spot for this, but I've submitted my novel, WINTER'S DISCORD, to Swoon Reads. It's basically a try out for my book and I need people to read and review. I'm including the link in the hopes that some of you will head over, register (it literally takes five minutes) and give WINTER a gander. I think it's a damn fine book. It's YA but I think it's got cross over potential. Think WESTEROS 90210, GAME OF THRONES by way of Degrassi, The Gilmore Girls In Krynn. If I get good reviews, there is a chance I could get a contract, so your help in this would be greatly appreciated. https://www.swoonreads.com/m/winters-discord/ Thanks and mods, if I've committed a faux pas by posting this in two different topics, please delete the one most inappropriate. Thanks.
  6. He asks for opinions, in the wrong place, and then gets defensive because someone told him he's not a special little snowflake. I merely sigh.
  7. Yes to all of this. It's how I got my agent. It took forever. Publishing moves at only a slightly faster pace than a glacier. I'll just amend this. I don't think subbing to publishers, especially smaller presses, is all bad. I submitted to Pyr and was in the door (thanks to my first agent) at Thomas Dunne without an agent but I made sure to mention that they were under submission at those places when I queried agents. The thinking is that if the publisher likes your book enough to like it, you can then get your agent. (I think this is how Jon Sprunk or Brent Weeks did it, but don't hold me to it.) Getting an agent is the way to go, in my eyes...but patience is the key.
