  1. No idea why you’re surprised, and it’s not pissing off any Dems. Republicans are threatening to use the dismissal against vulnerable Dem incumbents, of course, but both Tester and Brown literally laughed that off last week. It’d obviously be worse for them politically to grant legitimacy to such an absurd impeachment, devote multiple news cycles to it, then vote to acquit which ultimately they most certainly were going to do anyway.
  2. Ah. Based on you talking about the differences in flight travel I misunderstood.
  3. So is the basic understanding the difference between flying charter to coach is not going to make up a five times difference in flight time.
  4. Lol. It’s literally ten times the distance and at least five times the flight time.
  5. Oh I can certainly think of a more obvious one.
  6. Really don’t get why you think you need to educate me on the differences. The travel time still grates on any human being - at least based on players themselves mentioning this for decades.
  7. Really?!? My point is flight times aren’t gonna be much different.
  8. Controversial take - I frankly hope none of the money goes to Fred Goldman. Dude is 83. He’s made tons of money..I won’t say exploiting his son’s death, but really close. Ron’s sister, maybe? But she too has monetized the whole thing as well. Whatever is left should go to the two kids. They lost their mom.
  9. Damn dude. This is..surprising coming from you. Kinda feel like I’m reading the script to the end of your romantic comedy..or satire. Either way, I’m in! You’ve said this many times. May I suggest relaxing your standards? May seem self serving, cuz yeah, pretty sure I make a lot less than you. But I’m never going to meet you. Just saying, based on what you’ve said previously, you make more than a lot of people. Which means, ya know, in terms of median income you’re eliminating a lot of the pool. I get making sure the guy is self sufficient, but this requirement is eliminating a lot of the eligible population for a rather unnecessary concern in most cases. I really do suspect there’s a lot of good guys out there you’re missing out on. You can always ask for a pre-nup if it comes to that. Hell, prolly should regardless.
  10. I don’t think you’re old enough to remember the future king of Jordan marrying a British staffer on the set of Lawrence of Arabia. eta: sorry, he was actually king at the time. I meant mother of the future and current king.
  11. Sure, I dunno. Bibi almost certainly feels he has to do something. Biden should be on the horn convincing him if you have to, just blow up some buildings and hopefully that’ll be that.
  12. I dunno, I’ll reserve judgment. If Israel engages in a largely symbolic response and the US slaps their hand that still might be an out for all parties involved.
  13. Biden needs to publicly and significantly break with Bibi if the latter is going to pursue escalation. I’ve defended Biden’s tack up til now - and I think rightly so - but enough is enough.
  14. Right? Not to mention the history with Lawrence of Arabia. But yeah, as emphasized, it’s mostly cuz they’re more scared of Iran than they are of Israel. And rightly so.
  15. Jordan’s been a relatively pro-west regime pretty much since 9/11, at least. And of course they’re more stable than Egypt. Plus, their current queen used to work for Apple!
  16. I don’t know about you, but cross country flights suck ass compared to a few hours within a region. Not like it’s going to be much different for the pros. We don’t even have the Concorde anymore. Technology went backward with the internet. I WANT MY JETPACK!!!
  17. I suspect Egypt would respond in a similar fashion if Iran infringed on their sovereignty. It’s important to remember both are adversaries to Iran and its influence in the region as well.
  18. This simply is not true. Operation Infinite Reach comes to mind. I mean, there weren’t drones back then, but it’s pretty much the same type of response.
  19. I think even this is generous. It’s trying to resolve the western cognitive dissonance that Iran actually behaved more responsibly in form of a proportional response than Israel.
  20. I’d also point out that the medical community generally has zero problem prescribing drugs in which we have no idea concerning the long term effects to children on a host of other issues. This is pretty much how my entire generation grew up. Should there be concern about over-diagnoses? Absolutely. But there also shouldn’t be fear-mongering related to the general practitioner as long as they are acting in concert with all the requisite mechanisms for protection.
  21. Yup. Perhaps we should not accuse people that are trying to grasp this report and interpret its findings as best they can with premeditated insults and instant hostility. That, ya know, was my point.
  22. Having political motives does not mean people don’t actually believe what they say they believe. It..just means it’s motivated by their political beliefs. It’s very strange to think otherwise.
  23. Yeah the issue isn’t so much the Cass review but the weaponization of its findings. As Ripp alluded to, if you actually read the report, its recommendations are far less conclusive and determinative than being suggested here. For instance, on social transitioning: Immediately thereafter, on medical pathways: In other words, a lot of the findings in the report are resolvedly . Which is very far from what’s being argued here - because there’s plainly an underlying political motive. Instead, the thrust of the report emphasizes caution and developing a research protocol for the future - something that is eminently reasonable for most, I’d imagine.
  24. The west isn’t nearly as dominant as it has been in the recent past. And yeah, conferences remain useful when it comes to scheduling and travel.
