So I sent out invites, but it looks like the list only had 12 players on it. I thought we had more last season. Anyways, anyone is welcome to play. It's simple NFL Pick 'Em with confidence points. You rate each pick from 16 (being your most confident pick) to 1 (being your least confident pick). You get to drop your worst week. Click on the linky below to register. Password is tomsula. Let me know if you have any issues getting in.

So did anyone else think this episode spoiled who was going to strangle Cersie by having her standing on the neck, when Jamie was standing on the fingers? I also noticed a lot of dialogue around cerise about sibling killing.

hahahaha i saw that...and since i believe that it will be jaime who does her in the end... i loved it

This isn't to the level of a "Rant and rave" but I feel like Cersei shouldn't have nearly the military strength to withstand a siege by any of the factions out there.  With King's Landing in near complete anarchy by now, the sparrows all dead, the gold cloaks decimated, the Tyrells are enemies now, the Freys are dead, the Vale's in the North, the who does she think will back her?  Where is she going to get food?  I feel like the show is going to fudge things to make Cersei more formidable, where every decision she's made has made her own position a house of cards.

Either way, the season is off to a good start.

as jaime said...where are our allies

The problem for me is not that she can do this. The problem for me is a kind of hangover of last season, that she is clearly not 'no one' and that her training at the HoBaW was utter BS.

But also, her operation at The Twins was only seen from an endgame perspective, which made it tedious. They couldn't be bothered to explain the logistics of infiltrating the kitchen, killing Lame Lothar and Black Walder in secret, transporting them to the kitchen and cutting them up in secret, then cleaning up the killing of Walder, hiding his body, explaining away the disappearance of Lothar and Black Walder. These should be little suspense stories. Instead we simply got the end of them. It's tedious. There's no build-up, so the payoff has no substance.

It was even played as if we don't know it's Arya using Walder's face, as if we never saw her kill him last season, so even the intended shock moment of revealing that it's Arya is a failure of storytelling.

    i must disagree, my friend...

yes she is not "no one" but that is because she doesn't really want to be...she has in fact learned to be no one, and learned well...she had already demonstrated when she used a face to kill trant the girl whipper and if memory serves...which is questionable...her voice was different then if i remember until she revealed...also the waif had a granny voice just before trying to gut arya...so it seems she had the skill or it comes with the face..i don't think of it as magic so i believe the skills have been well and truly learned.

as to the logistics...i see your points, and some build up for both scenes, s610 and s701, would have been nice but really i don't need to see it...just like i didn't need to see Jaqen doing his killings...i would have enjoyed it but didn't need it to make the story better, for me...

was it really played like we didn't know...i felt that was supposed to be a shock to the frey girl, not to the audience...

and i gave epi a 7...very glad to have the hound and the bwb get together...and hey stannis read the fire on his first attempt...so it need not be a priest or a learned skill...the gravedigger is born

i liked arya's killing and non killing moments...i do not know Ed the singing Lannister so took scene at face value...seemed to support her not just killing to be killing and perhaps she does not know about the lannister sends regards comment since she didn't hear it like cat did..i see arya as stoneheart character sorta, and think she will hook up with bwb and hound eventually...

i laughed at euron...and cersei... both are ridiculous, but really wanted jaime to talk some shit back after the 2 handed comment...and of course he is jealous...even after speech he gave to edmure last season, we see he is still wondering about her fidelity

i did not care about the northern politics...though i do love me some bear-girl...but the rest was just more of the same i am not much of a sansa fan, or jon for that matter...and where is ghost, the same place he was during the battle of the bastards i guess...

the concept of time has never been respected (yes how did euron build all those ships so fast...though the books play fast and loose with time and distance as well so why should show be different) but i am just curious...dany sent Jorah to heal himself, and before she can get to westeros from slaver's bay, jorah has already made it there and been set up in a cell at the citadel...ah well...some things must just be ignored...i am hopeful for a cure since i think stannis told shireen that her cure had come from citadel, though this memory is just a foggy recollection rather than a clear picture...perhaps some of you remember

  5. my niece, she who must be obeyed, is being blocked from signing in by all of her browsers it says something about the SSL...

any ideas? she is using an older computer but never has had an issue until the last week or so

    any help will be appriciated

  6. 5/10 my lowest rating this season...

well i felt this epi was just mediocre i am a show and book lover and like some herein have said, i can easily see them as separate entities...that said this weeks epi was not as good as i had hoped...i was very happy the hound made it back, but ian 'swearengen' mcshane was wasted...i wanted him to stir up some shit....and for fucks sake, was that mouthy, murdering asshole supposed to be lem lemoncloak...that was the worst character switch out of the series

i also thought sansa was just being bitchy about davos who has been helpful from the beginning... though i still want him to discover what happened to shireen, i expected him to discover the kill site when he was telling that this was the camp of stannis' army, perhaps by finding the little carving he made scorched, laying next to the remnants of the burned pole...

these are just this salty old fart's opinions...feel free to disagree

  8. i gave it a 9...losing only one point for the fucked up kingsmoot and two eyed euron...so long crow's EYE...

but the hodor story and the shock of summer biting the bullet made up for it...and also the confirmation of a theory i have long supported... the children made the original others to fight men ...

  9. question about the main home page...is it just me or does everyone have an ad where the most recent topics used to be under the forum link on the right side of screen?
