  1. Scattered thoughts: Is the Dorne plot line really just to get Trystane to go to Kings Landing? Really? Setting aside how pissed I am about Shireen's death...I'm just wondering why do that before the battle of Winterfell? Where is our emotional investment now? Ramsay burning the food supplies with 20 guys is the worst contrivance ever. The fighting pit scene is horrendous. There is not a single aspect of it that works on any level.
  2. I didn't mind it at first but I do think they're going to downplay Stannis arriving next week. There's too much else that needs wrapping up.
  3. They obviously changed the line because they weren't sure LF saying, "only Cat" would be understood as a reference to Catelyn stark. in other news, we finally got an official LF reaction to the red wedding. He never spoke of it in the books IIRC
  4. Think of how many people got annoyed at Brienne's chapters in AFFC. The reader knew where Sansa was, so following Brienne around seemed pointless. Aren't we now doing that very same thing with Tyrion? He'll move heaven and earth to become Lord of Casterly Rock while we roll our eyes knowing its broke as shit
  5. The Lannisters are secretly BROKE????? How does that make any sense?
  6. So...does this confirm that Stannis doesn't become the new Night's King? WOOHOO PARTY TIME
  7. The good: Shireen/Davos is awesome New Daario is looking more promising Tommen looks like he'll be interesting to watch (having Charles Dance talk to him over Joffrey's corpse was a bit heavy-handed though) Tyrion/Pod was fairly moving The glaring bad: What in the actual fuck was that Jaime/Cersei rape scene Valuable time is wasted to basically just remind the audience that Oberyn is bisexual Stannis is still murderous and completely incapable of making any decisions of his own, ever......and I'm still wondering why cram the Gendry stuff into the last episode of S3 after 1 king had fallen when he's done nothing since Overall, this episode has the same problem nearly every other episode has...D&D have to sacrifice theme to keep the plot moving, so it always looks like collection of random scenes strewn together. There seems to be an emphasis on the idea of mentoring (Arya/The Hound, Tywin/Tommen, Tyrion/Pod, Sansa/LF) but it's all over the place, so nothing coherent ever emerges.
  8. I rewatched the Stannis scene and don't have that much of a problem with it. He's clearly displeased with the burning. When Selyse told him he hated fish, he responds, "I hate a great many things but I suffer them all the same." It's clearly directed at Mel, tho they should have had Stannis make eye contact with her to hammer the point home IMO.
