  1. Crazy idea: what if we just...stopped? Like, what if we just stopped making comic book movies?
  2. Woah. Avengers: The Kang Dynasty just lost its director.
  3. How many drugs did Sony executives take before okaying Madame Web?
  4. It's telling that Kamala was the central character in the Avengers game that Crystal Dynamics put out a few years ago. There was also interestingly, a huge backlash after her arguably pointless death, which has since been either retconned or forgotten about, depending on who you ask.
  5. Well the Wire did (arguably) get better with every season.
  6. To be fair, it's been a while since I've seen it, so forgive me my sins.
  7. Does Avatar 1/2 coming out in December as a kind of SFX counter-programming count in this kind of scenario? Or not so much?
  8. If hats are getting eaten, I request video proof please!
  9. For those who have seen it: did Black Adam offer anything interesting?
  10. Something wholesome and delightful for everyone on this wet, overcast morning: https://www.pcgamer.com/i-was-very-close-to-quitting-acting-full-stop-baldurs-gate-3s-astarion-says-he-was-saved-by-games-after-years-of-working-part-time-to-make-ends-meet/
  11. Star Trek: TNG, Babylon 5, Farscape, Star Trek: Deep Space 9, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, The Wire, Oz, Treme, West Wing, Deadwood, Blackadder, Red Dwarf, Round the Twist, 30 Rock, Community, The Expanse, Fringe, Blake's 7, The Critic, all good shows that got increasingly better with each season.
  12. The presence of a cliff-hanger isn't sufficient communication of the show being more than one season? Or have I misunderstood the complaint? There was a cliff-hanger, ergo, the show was going to be more than one season.
  13. The first season of Loki works much better if one understands that the two seasons are two halves of a novel - something the writers have regularly stressed in interviews.
  14. Apologies for my ignorance here, but: what's FCKAD?
  15. Didn't this start out originally as a Star Wars spec script?
  16. Quantumania is still a...baffling series of decisions that are completely at odds with the low-key stakes and tone of Ant-Man movies. Such a bizarre set of choices to make.
  17. I should go into film marketing, just so I can make anti-marketing to make @Heartofice laugh! (Not the worst reason for a career change!)
  18. Heh. I can see the posters now! "This movie is pop!" "The Marvels [...] released [...] in cinemas this year." "It's something [...] on screen." Like when Jay Kristoff made fake book adverts using negative reviews from people upset by the swearing and sex in his books. And so on.
  19. Absolutely correct. It's easily digestible, unremarkable but sufficiently entertaining and enjoyable pop.
  20. *shrug* She is (to me) mega-hawt and incredibly cute, therefore: my eyeballs will watch anything featuring her.
  21. The viewer reactions on io9's Open Channel article for the movie seems mostly positive, with most people saying something to the effect of "Hey, it was a sufficiently entertaining flick. Nothing amazing, but pretty okay". I'm certain there are parts of the internet where one would find differing audience reactions, but why anyone would bother getting worked up and/or incensed about these movies is really baffling to me. They're comic book movies, about people who shoot lights from their wrists and wear spandex. High art this ain't.
  22. That is a very real problem, the whole 'consume next product' thing - and something inherited from the storytelling approached used by comics. Which - hey, it works for comics. Movies and TV shows? Not so much!
  23. It's a frustratingly incidental movie too. Obviously, I enjoyed it for what it was, and liked some of the creativity (the Ms. Marvel comic panels early in the movie are a legitimate delight and I think a first for MCU movies?), but a movie should have a reason for existing. There's a bit too much of the universe-building-at-the-expense-of-story problem here that was on display in Iron Man 2. (Not to disparage IM2, which gave us a dancing Sam Rockwell, which is never a bad thing - there just wasn't enough of it!)
