  1. I've been listening to Jefferson Airplane and heard in the song Have You Seen The Saucers there's a lyric that goes "Star children on the black road to salvation; You've got to care for the needs of your planet; Children of the forest and child of the Woodstock nation; Catch the dawn that once was there; First born atomic generation; Open the door, Don't you know that's what it's for?" Others discussing this topic discovered the Dark Star homage, this is less likely to be a true homage, but you never know. . . . . .
  2. You forgot the part about secret Harconnons/Targs [sic] in Dune as well.
  3. I swear every time I come across Riverrun in the books, I think of that Carly Simon song "Let the River Run." Probably just me though.
  4. Maybe slightly off topic but an interesting musical thought. . . . . sansa noun another term for thumb piano. ORIGIN based on Arabic sanj ‘cymbal.’ aria noun Music a long, accompanied song for a solo voice, typically one in an opera or oratorio. ORIGIN early 18th cent.: from Italian, from Latin aer ‘air.’ Are the Stark sisters part of the "song" of Ice and Fire?
  5. Pardon me if this has already been mentioned, but every time a character says how something is as useful as "nipples on a breastplate," I am reminded of the over-produced Batman and Robin movie from the 1990s.
