  1. You know I always thought that Cersei had Mad Queen vibes but it is interesting to consider that Dany might actually be perceived as a Mad Queen. What I love in this series is that an event from a previus season can be addressed much later with a deep impact. Think of Jorah when he was told by Tyrion that his dad died. But yeah, even though the circumstances eere different there is an obvious parallel with Lord Rickard and Brandon. Wonder if Jaime will use it for his defence. In season one he did remind Ned of the terrible way his dad and brother died. Killing Aerys felt like justice.
  2. Is he still? I thought that Jon was no longer affiliated with the Night's Watch. Family bonds in Got can get confusing.
  3. But does Dany know? I think that the only person who knows about dragonlore is Tyrion. Those two are my favourite characters and I am really invested in their storyline. Perhaps Dany will forgive Jaime for now but I do wonder if the Tarly situation was a prelude to the Lannister controversy. Dany is grateful that Sam saved Jorah but she told him without showing remorse that she killed his family. Now she has to tell Tyrion what she really thinks of his beloved brother, the Kingslayer. After all Jaime brings nothing to them. He is but a cripple. He is so talented!
  4. Wonder if the first thing that Bran tells Jaime is the things I do for love.
  5. To be honest, in regards to Faegon, since he was introduced so late in the books I always thought that he was a distraction or a reason for Dany to be propted to return and abandon Meereen. On the other hand Faegon is linked to Varys so it would be interesting to see what happens next. After all Varys is still part of the plot. I wonder how he will react to Jon's real paternity. Oh I agree. Although it wasn't what he said but how he said it. He had a similar look on his face when he told Lf that chaos is a ladder. Well as a huge Dany fan, I agree that Dany has shown that she is eager to help. On the other hand though they are probably scared and the memory of the Mad King is not an asset for Dany. I do wonder if in the followig episodes Jon will be compared to Rhaegar and Dany to Aerys. Also looking forward to the reunion of my two favourite characters, Jaime and Dany. Gotta love Jaime joining the side of thewoman whose father he killed and of the boy he crippled. Perhaps they did it because Jon riding a dragon could be further proof of him being a Targaryen. Dany accidentally showed the world that Jon is a Targ.
  6. The moment he said old friend, I knew he was referring to Jaime although he kinda reminded me of a similar quote from Silence of the Lambs. I think that this is the only episode where Jaime has no lines.
  7. The last scene, the way that Jaime looks around being back at Winterfell, taking off his hood was definitely a reference to him arriving there at season 1. But the look on his face when he gazes Bran? Chilling. Another moment that was really powerful was when Sam told Bran that he is Jon's brother and he should be the one to tell him but Bran replies that they are not really brothers. It does seem as if Bran is very cold and distant. Also his reunion with Jon seemed too short. Really looking forward to see his interactions in the next episode. Plus Brienne will be with Jaime again. I also agree that the revelation of Jon's parentage was anticlimactic. I mean he was raised as a bastard Stark, had no idea who his mother was, he is in love with Daenerys and all of a sudddn he is told that Lyanna is his mom and Rhaegar his dad? I understand that in the show they don't have much time to further explain things but it seemed too fast.Honestly I cared more abiut the impact of the revelation that Dany killed the Tarly than Jon finally learning who he is. I did laugh the moment when Bronn was given the crossbow. Hope he makes it alive in the end. Is it me or in the books dragonriding for the first time is not so easy? Favourite moments: Bran and Jaime reunion, Dany telling Sam that she killed his dad and brother. Least favourite moment: Jon finds out who he really is.
  8. 5. Εxactly because while certain scenes were superb, I did not particularly enjoy some moments. The battle scene was amazing and even though I was never a big fan of Kit Harington and Sophie Turner, their performances in the last episode were quite good! I also loved the scenes with Dany flying on her dragon, showing to the Good Masters, who is the boss. The previous episodes were vastly dissappointg but this one had certainly a few good moments/ Unfortunately there were still certain issues. The Yara-Dany scene was too fast, too abrupt and too simplistic. In fact in e9 the writers tried to have characters finally interact with each other (Jon-Ramsay, Dany-Yara) or reunite (Tyrion-Theon, Sansa-Ramsay) and tried to end as many plotlines as possible in a rather unsatisfying manner..
  9. Wasn't this the first time that Arianne is exposed to the brutality of war? I agree that there is a connection to Arya' own experience but we should not forget that Arianne was raised in Dorne. In the water gardens she was friends with children, regardless of their status in society. In Stormlands-and in the rest of the 7 Kingdoms apart from Dorne-the priority is always the wellbeing and safety of the nobles. Commoners have little worth.
  10. Jaime Lannister capable only of an impossible love, suffers endlessly. He is solitary, languid, his condition exhausts him. If he wants to feel alive, it must be in the terrible exaltation of a brief and destructive action.

  11. Has anyone watched "And you are ugly too"? I watched the film a few months ago, at the Athens Film festival. Aiden Gillen stars as a convict who is allowed to leave prison, in order to take care of his niece, following the death of his sister. Will is trying to adjust to life after prison while Stacey, his niece, suffers from narcolepsy. They move to a caravan park and he has to prove that he is able to take care of Stacey, otherwise he will return back to prison and she will be given to a foster family. There they meet their Romanian neighbour, Tibor and his Belgian wife, Emilie, who becomes Stacey's tutor and is a love interest to Will. The film balances between comedy and drama successfully and the ending is bittersweet. It is basically a story of an unconventional family and the dark secrets that lurk. It is refreshing to see Gillen performing as a hero, even as someone who has many flaws as Will does. Mark Noonan, the director was also present during the screening and he said that Alexander Payne has been an influence, although not for this particular film.

Glad to see you back my lady! The comment above actually is Albert Camus' definition of the Byronic Hero. I agree about wasting mediocre lives. Keep in touch!

  14. Incredible drama unfolded in Fortaleza when Georgios Samaras converted a stoppage-time penalty to secure Greece a 2-1 victory over Côte d'Ivoire to set up a Round of 16 clash against Costa Rica at the FIFA World Cup™.

  15. Yes!!! I forgot about that! You are right! In the books though, Jon Arryn never appears, but there were stones on his eyes as well. I remember thinking, while watching that scene, that perhaps it was a reference to a custom from the Vale, since stones and mountains are an important aspect of the local culture. Another possible explanation is that since both men were highborn and their bodies were exposed before the funeral, placing stones on their eyes, ensured that ravens wouldn't eat them. Perhaps the scene from episode 1. was a foreshadowing to the scene from episode 3. In both scenes, Jaime and Cersei discuss their relationship, in front of a dead body, and they talk about the prospect of being caught.
  16. That's a really interesting question. As far as I can tell, there was no mention of coins placed on his eyes during the funeral. In fact, although funerary customs are mentioned, that particular practice doesn't appear in the books. My guess is that it is a vague reference to the belief that the soul of the deceased has to a pay a fee to the ferryman on its way to the underworld. Even nowadays, it is not unusual to place coins on the eyes of the deceased. But unlike Charon's obol, which was a coin, Joffrey has stones on his eyes, painted as another pair of eyes. Perhaps it was a subtle reference to the fact that it was important for Joffrey to be there, watching his parents having sex? Perhaps it was a reminder of the fact that while Cersei cannot escape their past, Jaime wants to continue? Besides, Joffrey was their firstborn and the only child left to them. The Martells got Myrcella, Tommen was taken by Tywin, all Cersei has got is Joffrey's corpse. I am really looking forward to the next Cersei-Tommen scene.
  17. 5. The strongest moment for me was Tywin discussing history and politics with Tommen. The weakest moment, was of course, Jaime and Cersei in the sept. It's not just about the impact on Jaime's character, but on Cersei's as well. She was a depicted as a weak and passive person, and this is far from accurate. I wonder what their next scene is going to be about.
  18. All stories are about wolves. All worth repeating, that is. Anything else is sentimental drivel. …Think about it. There's escaping from the wolves, fighting the wolves, capturing the wolves, taming the wolves. Being thrown to the wolves, or throwing others to the wolves so the wolves will eat them instead of you. Running with the wolf pack. Turning into a wolf. Best of all, turning into the head wolf. No other decent stories exist.

*Applause* This story is about Jon becoming the head wolf. Think about it.

The quote is from the Blind Assassin, by Margaret Atwood. A writer offers his opinion about storytelling and he approaches story arcs as parallels to wolves and people's attitude towards them. Apart from the Starks, I think that the situuation described can apply to other characters in asoiaf as well, such as LF, Jaime, Tywin. As for Jon, yeah, I think that he will evolve to the head wolf.

  19. Perhaps the Dothraki could be a subtle reference to the Jivaro tribe? I know that the Dothraki are a lot like nomadic tribes from Asia, mostly the Mongols, but perhaps there are similarities to the Jivaro, a group of people that live in northern Peru and Ecuador. The Dothraki live in Essos, a continent where two important civilisations originated, the Empire of Ghis and Valyria. In the books, Ghis is regarded as one of the oldest civilisations, whereas people consider Valyrian steel to be rare and finest. Yet, the Dothraki were not affected by the civilisations of their continent and had a completely different lifestyle. They were warriors, moved from place to place and attacked cities. The Jivaros, just like the Dothraki, spoke one language but there was no real unity between them. They formed independent groups and were often fighting each other. In the same continent where the civilisations of the Incas and Mayas prospered, there was a group of people, dedicated to war and fighting and were not affected by the Empires. The Jivaro once had to face a Spanish governor, who was too greedy and wanted to impose taxes on them. The Jivaro poured molten gold down his throat and they only stopped when his bowels bursted.
  20. my opinion on Tywin Lannister: "Wisdom is far the chief element in happiness and, secondly, no irreverence towards the gods. But, great words of haughty men exact in retribution blow"

Thank God for public education in Greece! Creon does remind me of Tywin!

As for the haughty-naughty, it happens to me all the time!

Everything else may s@ck but public education is really good. I started to translate it and I was like oh! Antigone Creon :) Well Tywin is naughty too.

  21. Why people want to see Jaime dead, of all people? He has done things that are bad, things that are questionable, he has done things that are noble and heroic but does he deserve to die? If GRRM wanted Jaime dead then there would be more than one chapter in DWD. Instead we got Arya chapter, as always, Cersei, Dany, Tyrion, Jon, even Barristan and Melisandre. And Jaime? He is reunited with Brienne at the middle of the book and she tells him something that according to the reader cannit be the truth, Sandor has Sansa. Much later, Cersei says that Jaime is lost in the Riverlands, following Brienne. His situation is difficult, but it is a cliffhanger not a proof that he will die. Poor Ned died but unlike Jaime, his storyline was over. Jaime has so many things to do, meet Tyrion again for example.
  22. my opinion on Uncat: "Battle not with monsters, lest ye become a monster, and if you gaze into the abyss, the abyss gazes also into you."
