  1. Welcome to Westeros! I guess I missed your post earlier. Mrs. Chicken & I live in VT, but our "little" Chickee is at college in Philly.
  2. Welcome to Westeros Gwen! There are other SCA folk here & I have an RL friend who was in the SCA, though I've never partaken myself. And for the shy part? You're in good company. :) And you might enjoy this thread: http://asoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/topic/126005-tttne-452-the-spam-ball/page-26 It's called TTTNE = the thread that never ends, also known as "the spam".
  3. Welcome followthearrows and Erin Navan!! You are welcome (as is everybody) to join my March Madness ASOIAF Favorite Character game (already in progress. Sweet Sixteen contests are currently underway (voting ends tomorrow night, Friday, March 27, at 8 pm, USA, eastern). http://asoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/topic/125898-march-madness-favorite-asoiaf-character-one-more-day-for-sweet-sixteen-voting/page-9
  4. Welcome! Nice to see you in Forum Games (the most friendliest place in Westeros, it is known. ;) ) Hi there! Come join us in forum games!! http://asoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/forum/18-forum-games/ It's a great way to meet new people and beat their brains in get to know them better.
  5. Welcome to westeros guys!
  6. TTTNE, aka "the spamily" is in the games forum. It's the thread that never ends. http://asoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/topic/124061-tttne-450-one-thread-to-rule-them-all/page-7#entry6693066
  7. Welcome to Westeros, Hunter!! Always nice to greet a new visitor to the place. In case you have not been warned, till you finish all five books, much of Westeros will contain spoilers for you. You may want to stick to the "still reading" threads. For me, I actually sought out wikipedia and other descriptions of the plot so I knew what was coming before I read it - I prefer reading that way, but few people do. Once you have read all the books, there are a ton of activities and games as well as discussions about the characters and there are various theories and etc. you can get into. :)
  8. That's funny. My thought is that if I was English, London would be the obvious KL and all the others would fall into place. (Cambridge = the Citadel/Oldtown). If you're French is Paris your KL or Marseilles? Your list makes sense. :) eta If anybody has done a map of North America as Westeros, I have not heard of it. I think you might have more luck comparing the UK to Westeros, though. For one thing Martin drew inspiration for the main story in ASOIAF from the English War of the Roses from what I have read. Not sure NA fits into the story at all.
  9. You things are dire when Kings Landing (aka NYC) looks like north of the wall. :P
  10. Welcome to Westeros! I'm in VT and it looks like we'll be on the edge of the storm. You in NYC & vicinity? If so be careful: "winter is coming".
  11. Welcome to Westeros!! Nice to see another Finn on the boards. The ones I've met so far haven't stayed around.
  12. Welcome to Westeros, Reuben!! (I don't think I welcomed you before).
  13. I've been given a recipe for honeyed chicken but have not tried it yet. Anyway, it comes from a scene in Jon 1 of AGOT.
  14. Welcome to Westeros Edward! Fellow rock n' roller here (huge Who fan). If you follow King Tyrion I's link to The Thread That Never Ends (TTTNE) you'll find a group that includes at least one member from the Caribbean (he calls it "the Summer Isles", the map says "Dominican Republic") and a couple from the Netherlands. We're a friendly group and we love to greet new posters. Welcome to Westeros Nina! Germany is an awesome country and I think you'll be at home and welcome here on Westeros. I hope you like Edward will come to TTTNE and join in the fun. And there's lots of other things to do on forum games where TTTNE is located, so if you like games, you should check that out. Well put, my friend. Always good to bring new Westerosi over to TTTNE. That's where I went early in my time here and never have regretted it.
  15. Welcome to Westeros Lady Ginger. It seems to me that after 14 years of the Navy you can pretty much do what you want (within your budget, o.c. :P ). Meatbags?! So that's not just a picture, you really are a robot? :P Welcome to Westeros!
  16. Ever seen the Smithereens in concert? Springsteen or Southside Johnny? Those are guys I grew up seeing as a mere 20 something. :D As a heads up to all who are spamily, or have ever spammed or will ever spam, the 2015 Spamsmoot thread has officially kicked off and nominations for 2015 Spamperial court are pouring in. http://asoiaf.wester...-spammoot-2015/
  17. Hello Mike, Welcome!! A New Jerseyite, eh? Are you from GRRM's part of the state?
  18. Welcome!! I'm glad you've read the books - we're seeing a number of new friends who have not read any of it yet. We always have to warn them there will be spoilers. For you that's not necessary and we can talk about the books straight away - that's what westeros is all about, imho. I won't say more here since that might spoil things for a new member looking to say hi. I look forward to seeing you around - and if you like word games and other kinds of games, be sure to check out forum games - that's where you'll find me. :) http://asoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/forum/18-forum-games/
  19. Welcome! Nice to have another New Englander around. I'm from VT.
  20. A Nordmann!! Du maa bli Norsk da? I'm not going to try typing in Norwegian any more - my keyboard doesn't know how to do those 3 extra letters and my Norsk is nesten ikke lenger. Forsvinit (sp?). Anyway Velkommen til Westeros du!! I'm American, but my mother var fodt i Trondheim. She came here to be housekeeper for Trygve Lie. So we kept ties with Norway and I grew up ion gjetost & Kong Haakon chocolates. :) Not to mention romme grot and codfish caviar in a tube. Yes, you definitely should avoid any of the book forums till you've read them. I can't even recommend my beloved games forum till you've done that. We have many, many games that we play but almost all of them involve the books and you'd be getting spoilers often. The books are quite different than the show and much better, in my opinion. So I hope you are able to read them soon and enjoy them. Feel free to pm me anytime!
  21. Greetings Jay! Hope you have lots of fun here.
  22. Nice intro. I've seen you around a bit on the games forum. I hope you're having fun! Welcome Zoe. :) There's a forum for those who are in the process of reading and there it is safe to read and discuss without getting spoiled - at least if you've reached a certain point in the books. Even here, you might want to wait till you have finished AGOT before reading the threads: http://asoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/forum/50-a-game-of-thrones/ Hey, welcome!! Rrachel is from Chile and she just joined recently. Post #3187, http://asoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/topic/37123-introductions/page-160 Welcome Drekinn! Merry Christmas!
  23. I don't know what LCG stands for, but the subtitle was "A Roll of the Dice" SO I assume, yes.
  24. Dice? - duh! :blushing: Should have thought of you right away! <bows to his grace, King Tyrion II>
