  1. Happy December fellow Santas! So I would just echo the sentiments of others. I love local items. It is always so lovely to taste a bit of another region. I also love cetaceans and would love a recent book on whale biology. I'm a big fan of of binaural beats for relaxation and nature inspired items.
  2. How do you get your profile picture to show in the new format? Mine uploads, but won't show up next to posts. I feel like an FM.

I agree with Kyoshi. When I open a previously read thread, it starts back at the beginning rather than at the point I stopped at.

Go to account settings, select signature and make the changes you would like. The font and size options weren't available a couple of days ago and are back now. If the signature violates the signature rules (more than 5 lines) then it will not save.

I'm using an Android 1+1 and checked the Tapatalk. It goes to the main page to load the forums, but then freezes while loading.

  7. This episode at least had some teeth. S5 dragged until HardHome. This episode was a worthy follow up.
  8. Well, we all know my stance! :D Welcome Valyria!

Exactly. I seem to be having luck with Firefox this morning. This is the most consistently I've been able to access the forum over the past month. Thanks Consigliere...I'll look for that!

I'm also continuing to have issues when loading the forum. Sometimes the page comes up OK initially, but on subsequent pages only the skin loads or the left side. If I can click on what I want in the split second before the ads normally come up, I can get to the next page. If not, the skin loads, but the ads never do and the page becomes non-responsive. I've tried clearing the cache, running spyware, etc. The problem is occurring in all browsers (IE, Firefox, Chrome). Any ideas? I'm also using the standard skin, nothing special. It happens at all times of the day or night. Its getting to the point that reloading the page isn't even working anymore and I have to close out and open in another browser.

I've had the same problem with Chrome. Loading Westeros has been a hit/miss thing over the past couple of weeks. I've tried clearing out the cache a couple of times and the effect is temporary. Its like the ads normally on the left are not loading over skin like they normally do.
  12. Sometimes change is a good thing. Or a bad thing. Or a REALLY good thing :leer:

  13. Rating the show as a stand alone entity gave it a higher rating than viewing it as an adaptation. I was most disappointed in Tywin and Tyrion's conversation and in the lack of LS. The gems were FrankenGregor and Cersei's attempt to belittle Tywin. Best things were Bran warging Hodor and Arya's off to Braavos scene.
  14. Did you also note the cycling of characters? It was like they did a panoramic view with characters stepping in and transferring to scenes as they went on fighting or dying within the music. It was probably one of the more spectacular scenes choreographed on-screen for home television. Exactly...this empty feeling leaves us ready for something...or someone...who can truly take charge because Jon Snow hasn't become that person. The person that can step up and save the Wall now is Stannis. And I am OK with waiting until next week or next season to see that! If he had appeared in this episode, it would have been predictable. I am glad that they filmed this the way that they did. Technological CGI errors and all.
  15. Exactly. There are some things that the show does very well and others where I am less than happy. My angry point this season was the sept scene; some people have hit the angry point with this episode. Ultimately, you have to accept that this is an ADAPTATION of the books and will never match perfectly. And yes...its OK to be angry and dislike the episode. I quite enjoyed it since this is a story line that I typically gloss over and only know it well via multiple rereads. I felt that they did a great job of pulling everything happening at the Wall together. JMO.
  16. Posting isn't nitpicking and I think I have maybe gotten 25 posts in this season...and the majority of those were admittedly because I was disenchanted with the sept scene. I have been on and off this board for over a decade. I'm sorry that you did not enjoy the episode. I was simply pointing out that not everyone wants to analyze everything down to CGI as you do. I watch the show for pleasure. That does not make me 'illogical' as you claim. And if you are paying as much attention as you claim, you would understand that the point of the attack was that it occurred on multiple fronts. You are the one that put your brain in a teaspoon, not I.
  17. Yes I can. I don't obsess over every episode. I watch for pleasure. If you are technology driven, then great. If I want to nitpick something, it will be something at work that will lead to better patient outcomes. I pay attention to minor details when it concerns a life, not a TV show.
  18. It was the kid smiling at Jon that made it clear. I am not disagreeing that the emotional parts were sappy. I feel like the episode resolved a very complicated plot at the Wall and left an appropriate entrance for Stannis. eta: Yes, I tend to be a book purist. Yes, the show sometimes pisses me off. The sept scene proves that. But I do like how they have things set up now for Stannis, Davos and Mel to take over the Wall with their determination and vision. If it doesn't happen in the S4 finale, then it should happen the S5 premiere. JMHO
  19. I liked that Stannis did not arrive in this episode. It gave clarity to what may come with the Others and how the Wildlings and the Westerosi must join together. If Stannis had arrived during this episode, it would have diminished the impact of BOTH...the joining of a common enemy AND OF STANNIS' attempt to join all together. I think leaving Stannis' arrival at the Wall with reinforcements AFTER this episode makes sense and shows a savvy man who knows how to be a king.
