  1. I don't like Bran becoming king but if that was what George planned for the ending I don't see it drastically changing. He's hardly going to mix it up now and put Stannis on the throne instead.

Arya going west in the show was out of nowhere with zero build up which makes me think thats also how her story ends.

Sansa being QITN also makes sense in terms of her story but I wonder how she will get there with Winter closing in.

Tyrion being hand of the king is believable because someone has to have a typical ending.

Dany going mad was so abrupt in the show it makes sense that it will happen in the books.

I can see all these things happening but with actual build up and execution.

Well there will be the Hodor sacrifice that will be a big help.  I imagine coldhands or maybe Benjen or a combination of the two will help with the journey.  Also Book Bran will probably have more powers and maybe warg some northern animals to help along the way.  More so then ravens scouting which is pretty much the extent of what Bran did.

Ha I mean character wise, not logistically. The show made it look like awful fanfic with Tyrion just nominating Bran and nobody speaking up despite Dorne and the Iron Islands being present. How does Bran go from being thought dead by the North, living in a cave to sitting on the Iron Throne ruling Westeros. He was mostly useless in the show but they just sat him on the throne. It could take 3-4 more books to tie up this story into that ending.

Come on, that is just plain stupid. Now people are just forcing it...

It was stupid to even think that it was D&D's idea to put Bran on the throne. They hated that character.

But now some people just sound desperate, which looks pretty sad.

Yeah a lot of denial here but thats ok, we were given a hamfisted ending with very poor execution, its only right to question what will be in the books and what won't be. Issac has just confirmed it as George's idea. It's the same with Shireen being burned. We know it happens way later in the story and under much different circumstances.

If D & D were doing their own ending there is no way Bran would have survived the White Walker encounter at the cave. It makes a lot of sense why the books have taken so long. How does George getting Dany from Essos to Westeros with her going mad and dying at the end. That alone is a whole book. No add in Bran becoming King. The Long Night. The list grows and grows.

  3. How in the world does Bran get from the cave to the Iron Throne in the books. I can't see how you could realistically do that. Why would anyone follow him at that stage, let alone make him the King of Westeros. There's no logical reason Dorne, Iron Islands, Westerlands, Stormlands etc would declare for him.

That's killed a lot of my enthusiasm for the books now.

  4. It was great to see everyone reunited but some of the interactions were so flat this episode which is strange because Sam got a really emotional scene. It was mentioned here before that characters just spit one liners back and forth at each other and its so noticeable this episode. It was so unbelievable that Jon and Arya would meet up and not talk about Eddard, Catelyn, Robb and Bran. Like last seasons where Davos went to Dragonstone and note a single word about Stannis, Shireen or how the castle he spent years in was now abandoned and his King dead. I wish the show would humanise the characters more but thats a complaint I have about 95% of TV/films. They don't act like people would act in those situations.

  5. Why would Alliser Thorne stab Jon. He despises him but he would never do this. Epic fail.

Make him look like a bad guy and Jon the good guy instead of it being a very debatable area. Where Jon had very few options and the Night's Watch brothers had no choice but to caeser their commander who had just abandoned the Wall, broke his oath and openly invited his brothers to do the same.

  6. I don't really see a coordinated assissination attempt against Jon. My guess is that Olly just walks up to him and stabs him, and maybe that emboldens some of Jon's enemies to do the same.

I can actually hear that kid's whiney voice "They killed my mother and father. They burned my village. I'm going to shank you Jon".

  7. I am surprised there hasn't been much discussion about the hooded figure on the boat.

There is no way that was just random. The Wildlings were in white camo, and the NW was in their black garb.

Why would someone need to hide with a brown cloak over them.

Maybe it is Benjan? Maybe coldhands? maybe it is the Nights King himself?

There has to be something significant about the hooded man (he wasnt moving, wasnt rowing).

He was holding a camera or he was holding an on-board motor engine so they could move the boat back and forth. The hood was to hide one of these.

  8. 6/10 from me

Hardhome was amazing even if the Moria Goblin/Dungeons and Dragons skeletons were cheesy as hell. The White Walkers were insane. With an army like that Westeros doesn't stand a chance. I don't know how true to future plots they're sticking but I wish Jon had gone to Hardhome instead of "Cottor Pyke??". I was hoping for a glimpse of an Ice Spider.

    Tyrion was brilliant this episode.

Cersei on her knees drinking from a puddle. She has fallen far.

    Qyburn's work continuing.

    Negatives:

All the swearing and Irish/English accents had me constantly face palming.

Emilia Clarke's rubbish acting. I thought she had gotten better but beside Peter Dinklage she has the emotions of a potato.

No question why Jorah and Tyrion had been sold into slavery? The slaver still gets to operate without punishment?

    Sansa and Theon scene.

  9. The Tyrion/Jorah scene was so cheap. They were sold from a wooden board in the woods and were then brought to a crappy run down arena where there was a really bad fight scene with terrible choreography. Then Dany just happened to be there. Why did she leave the safety of Mereen? That would have been the perfect time to strike against her. The writing has gone so downhill this season.

  10. 7/10

Recycling the plots is getting tedious. We already had a scene with Sansa looking at an old women who was killed by her abusive husband in S1. D & D's fanfic plots are just straight up copies of plots that have already happened. The Winterfell arc is really bad and full of plot holes & inconsistencies.

Jonathan Pryce was amazing this episode. What an actor!

    Olenna was great too.

    I'm getting worried about Stannis.

  11. 1/10

    Awful dialogue

    Terrible acting

One of the worst fight scenes I've ever seen, the choreography was so bad. The 3 sand snake actors are clueless

Wintefell scenes had these really boring pauses and silences

The slavers appearing unnoticed right in front of Tyrion & Jorah was so badly executed

Shoving in Mormont and Renly's armour back story three seasons late was sloppy and needless

    Sansa backtracking on character development

Thats just rating it as a show watcher. As for the huge divergences from the book. It was a train wreck.

George RR Martin you have a LOT to answer for.
