  1. Arya's laughter works several ways. On the one hand, she's laughing because she's finally within reach of some measure of safety and again, it gets snatched away. She's just a couple of days too late. On the other hand: her aunt just died and that really doesn't seem to phase her. And, yes, like she said, she doesn't actually know her aunt. But hey, it's still her aunt. Not a scene to my liking. There was some rumor that the Hound could be getting himself killed by the Knights of the Vale. In hindsight, that doesn't seem logical with Arya by his side. But then they could've just skipped the Bloody Gate alltogether. We've had enough close encounters and I don't think they're fooling anyone in to believing a Stark reunion is within the realm of possibilities.
  2. Now, you can argue whether or not to nitpick on the "Only Cat" scene. And sure, it's just a single oneliner. But it seems as though D&D just have to be altering slight things to keep the show theirs. As if they have a desperate need to prove themselves. What's next? Will "Elia!" be cut? "Stannis!"?
  3. Cersei is all about appearances. She was so looking forward to a reunion with her perfect brother. The first thing she saw, was a stump. What about that last scene with Stannis, Mel and Davos. First Mel urges Stannis to lock him up and have him executed. Davos hands the letter and suddenly he has a role to play? Was that anything like it was in the books?
  4. Asha will head for the Dreadfort. She´ll receive news that her father died and that a Kingsmoot is decreed. She´ll turn around and head back to the Iron Islands. First things first.
  5. The Hound asked if this was the first MAN she killed. It was (in the show).
  6. Until the end I was still expecting a SH scene. Like a post credits scene. Saving it up, it guess. I think in the end it´ll just have a bigger impact. The RW will be long forgotten and then BAM!
  7. Pink cloak might have been too much (maybe faded red), but I was looking at the cloak Edmure gave to his bride and for the life of me, I couldn´t make out any Tully characteristics. Disappointment is a big word, but I would have liked some more of these elements from the books. Didn´t mind the alteration in Cat´s end, although I didn´t like the scream. Also wasn´t really fond of the impact reactions (stabbing, crossbow bolts). However, the entire build up to the massacre was pretty great. I read the books, I knew what was coming, but there were times that I was actually smiling. Offcourse not during the betrayal itself. I don't think any non-reader knew exactly what was coming until Lothar(?) shut the doors. At that point, you knew it was going to take a turn for the worst. I do hope they are going to a better job of portraying the North's love for the Starks in the upcoming episodes/seasons. I mean, why single out the guy who played Wendel Manderly if they don't give him any lines during the RW-episode itself? Didn't get a good look as to what happened to him, but it does seem like the Blackfish escaped. Not going to give a rating. Don't feel like it with this episode.
  8. 8. Could have been a 9, but the expected Coldhands did not show up. + Tyrion/Sana wedding. + Mel naked (better than Dany imo). + Boobiehilt. - No Coldhands. - No lead up to the RW. - Daario = Jaqen?
  9. It was one of the best episodes this season. That's not the point. I'm starting to doubt we'll see Coldhands at all.
  10. I was totally expecting Coldhands until the scene itself. Now I'm kinda pissed.
  11. 7 After next week's disappointing episode, this one sort of picks up where episode 4 and 5 ended. Though not quite. First of all, kudos to both Clarke and Harrington on their acting. Clarks has been good this entire season, especially in comparison to last year. Besides, she looked great in that dress. Harrington, I'm also not a fan of. But the better climate must have done "wonders" to his acting presence. Kind of enjoyed his interaction with Ygritte. Pleased she didn't refer to his tung again. And we also got a genuine bit of Tormund. Har! Already a little backstory concerning Mel aka Melony. Scene between Gleeson and Dance had to be good. Two of the best actors on the show, how could it not? Scene with the Bear and the Maiden not so fair but with a nice tush was, well, okay. Speaking of tushy. The Queen in the North! I think I'll never get the anger that some hardcore bookfans show towards this beautiful creature. WHAT. A. BODY. Other than that, not great. But then again, I never got bored. Really looking forward to next week though.
  12. 7. After 2 very good episodes, we apparently take a step back. Highlights were Littlefinger vs. Varys and the Ladder-speech, Roose!, the first bit of flaying and the encounter between Mel and the Brotherhood without Banners. Liked Mel's interaction with both Thoros and Arya. And apparently, this scene served for more reasons than just the need of Gendry's king's blood. Did think a lot of scenes lacked impact and were just kind of filler (f.e. Sam,Jojen). Didn't think the ending was very GoT-like. Maybe they should've ended with the Joffrey/Ros scene. Have a feeling next week will restart the epicness.
  13. 8. Great acting from Richard Dormer, Charles Dance, NCW and, still my undefeated champion, Maisie Williams. Not to sound creepy, but I kind of feel like I´m falling in love with her portrayal of Arya. Is she becoming Lyanna? Am I Rhaegar Targaryen? :uhoh: That scene between her and Thoros & Beric, the tears in her eyes. That's some high class acting. What else did I like? Well, Tywin annihilating his kids for one. The bath scene with Jaime & Brienne. The back and forth between Robb and Karstark. Shireen singing Patchface. And offcourse the trial by combat. Still don't care for what goes on beyond the wall. Not too fond of the fetus/leech swapping (did like the name drop). Didn't really like the order of sequences. But all in all a really good episode.
  14. A big fat 9. Really nothing that I didn't like. Even the less important scenes like the one with Joffrey and Margaery were very pleasant, thanks to the beautiful architecture and interesting Targaryen backstory. The acting overall was superb: NCW, Christie, McCann, Rigg(!). Even Clarke delivered. Delivered in Valyrian, which she should always do from now on. Adds to the badassery. I've waited 3 episodes. But now, like the great philosopher Shang Tsung once said: IT HAS BEGUN!
  15. A well deserved 8. What I liked: - Arya/Hot Pie scene. Is there any scene (yet!) where Arya is not cute? - Locke. How's Roose going be scarier than this bloke? - Tyrion. Back in the game after his dada knocked him down. - Robb/Blackfish. Robb's still mad as hell. Blackfish' got his back. - Catelyn(!). Usually I really don't care for her. She outdid herself this time. - The Harpy of Astapor. - Missandei  - References: Rhaegar, Iron Bank What I didn't like: - Pod scene. Didn't hate it, but I have my priorities. They should have replaced this one with more screentime for Robb/Arya. - Mance. I love Hinds, but up until now he hasn't delivered. - Stannis. Too clingy. And in general: too many storylines, not enough time to add adequate depth to certain characters. I'm wondering how they'll handle this in future seasons. Don't get me wrong, I want Dorne and to a lesser extent the Iron Islands in upcoming seasons. But it's going to require pro level juggling.
  16. A modest 7. The things that I liked: - Jojen Reed: I think Brodie-Sangster will be a great Jojen Reed. For me , he really did a good job playing the young sage-like lad. Enjoyed his scene with Summer and loved the reference to his father. - Olenna Tyrell: precisely what I envisioned the Queen of Thorns would be. - The Orell-warging scene. - Thoros of Myr, another newcomer. Wasn't up there with Jojen and Olenna. Yet. The things I didn't like: - The Jaime/Brienne swordfight. - The Catelyn monologue. - The Theon torture scene. Overall, I definitely wasn't blown away. Then again, I didn't think I would be, considering the review I've read this far. It's like I posted some place else: for me it's an episode of small pleasures.
  17. 7/10. A slow-moving episode with some good dialogue and a thumbs up for some side-characters (Saan, Bronn). Best scene was obviously the conversation between Tyrion and Tywin, where the showrunners definitely wanted to establish the fact that Tywin is not a nice guy. In season 2 they portrayed him as pretty likeable, mostly because of his interaction with Arya. The credit he gained there, he loses in this first episode. I loved Gleeson's facial expressions and overall acting, especially in the dinner scene. At that point, he wasn't the little brat he portrayed in earlier seasons. He almost looked like a sane adult  I liked seeing Robb again, even though it was just for a moment. Liked the re-introduction of Bolton and Karstark. Didn't really care for Jon. But then again, I never really have. The scenery shots were beautiful: King's Landing, Dragonstone and Astapor. Perhaps this season Clarke/Daenerys can win me over a bit, since she too hasn't been one of my favorites on the show or in the books.
