  1. FIFA 22 is frustrating the hell out of me. Defending is a massive headache. Crossing doesn't seem to be effective at all. All I do now is play as PSG, keep giving Messi and Mbappe the ball and just run past their defence and shoot. Works 9 times out of 10 (although the keeper saves it 9 times out of 10 too, obviously).
  2. Between this and ChatGPT it's getting worrying for writers. I never thought I was in danger of machines taking over my job.
  3. Finished all the 5 seasons of Cobra Kai and thoroughly enjoyed it. Yeah it had its fair helping of cheese (as you'd expect of something inspired by 80s movies) but it all worked for me.
  4. I'm interested to see how Conte's system, which is a clearly designed to be played in Italy, works against an Italian team.
  5. We're in for a rough ride with Fraser Forster in goal for two months. Guy looks near-sighted.
  6. Finally finished Batman: Arkham Knight, although it turns out you have to collect all the Riddler trophies to get the full ending, which irritates the hell out of me. I may just watch the ending on YouTube instead. The game had so many frustrating elements gameplay wise but the story is so great. I really wish they'd make movies from the Arkham games.
  7. Never played the games. Thoroughly enjoying the series. Only thing that's annoying me is Eli seems way too upbeat for the situation they're in. I get that they're trying to create a contrast between her and Joel, but she uses turns of phrase that I wouldn't expect a kid who grew up in a post-apocalyptic world to know.
  8. ROTK is definitely the one with the biggest gap in quality between the cinematic and extended versions IMO. Saruman's death, Gandalf vs the Witch King and the Mouth of Sauron all really should have been in the cinematic version. The reaction from Gandalf when Mouth of Sauron brandishes Frodo's mithril coat gets me every time. Also the Witch King saying "the world of men shall fall" followed by the horns of Rohan. Chills.
  9. Gandalf vs the Witch King was also added to the Extended Edition. Which promptly crashed afterwards? Fantastic series though.
  10. Watched Babylon and thought it was mostly boring except for the Tobey Maguire segment. This movie did NOT need to be 3 hours. Also the ending just went on forever and I was like "I get the point, end already".
  11. So City are gonna get off with a slap on the wrist, right?
  12. I'm having a blast playing Goldeneye. So much nostalgia.
  13. I thoroughly enjoyed it although it was rather cheesy at times.
  14. Doesn't Microsoft own Rare? In which case Microsoft allowed Nintendo to use it, not the other way round. I only have xbox so I won't get the multiplayer unfortunately, but I'm looking forward to feeling some nice warm nostalgia from playing the single-player. That Facility mission was an absolute classic.
  15. I always feel a lot of sympathy for Everton 'cause like Tottenham they're a club with a grand history that hasn't won anything in ages.
  16. Might be considered controversial since the kingdom that the Agojie fought for sold a lot of the Africans it conquered to Transatlantic slave traders.
  17. The real question is how low will the ratings be for the Academy Awards this year? People getting so sick of seeing these sanctimonious Hollywood types celebrate themselves. If they want to boost their ratings they need to get someone irreverent like Ricky Gervais or Dave Chapelle to host ie. someone who will roast them and bring them back down to Earth. But instead it will just be another circle jerk.
  18. So far I've seen: The Banshees Of Inisheran: Excellent, fantastic script The Fabelmans: Boring Elvis: average; great performance from Austin Butler Top Gun Maverick: Best experience I've had in a cinema for a long time Everything Everywhere All at Once: Brilliant and highly original; a real mindbender All Quiet on the Western Front: Excellent Triangle of Sadness: Entertaining, didn't really think of it as Best Picture material though Disappointed RRR wasn't nominated for Best Foreign Film
  19. The Last Jedi was shit. Many Star Wars fanboys hated it because it shat all over the Star Wars mythology, but that's exactly because Johnson was hired, because Disney had no plan for the sequel trilogy and was willing to let any old hack have a shot at it regardless of whether they had cared about the story. TFA was also shit.
  20. The Banshees of Inisherin (2022) It lived up to the hype for me. Aside from the fact that I have to keep googling it to check how to spell the name, it's a great dialogue-driven film that really had me invested in the characters. I enjoyed it much more than its rivals The Fabelmans and Elvis. Still disappointed it wasn't about actual banshees though. 8/10
  21. https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11675/12791409/juventus-serie-a-side-given-15-point-deduction-as-tottenhams-fabio-paratici-handed-30-month-ban-from-italian-football Tottenham sporting director Fabio Paratici found guilty of fraud perpetrated during his time at Juventus and banned from all football activities in Italy. Ban may be extended to all football activities in Europe. With Tottenham, it never rains, it pours. An Inter-supporting friend of mine told me a year ago that Paratici was shit so I've always had my doubts and I guess this provides a convenient opportunity to get rid of him. But still kind of funny that Levy appoints a Director of Football and six months later the guy is convicted of Fraud. Levy has like the opposite of the MIdas touch.
  22. This is exactly the problem really. The game gives you an open world but very little freedom in how to navigate the story.
  23. Well he got the opportunity to write a Star Wars movie, which many people would do for free, and made it completely about himself and his own political views instead of respecting the Star Wars universe, And his Knive's Out movies are basically screaming "look how smart I am!"
