  1. oh and we have the first four, bet someone throws something lower than a 4 up there just so they can be the person to give it the lowest score. A 4? The setting, sets, props, film location and special effects alone are enough to give it a better score than that any day of the week. Let me guess Dany wasn't wearing the right dress, or Theon should not be in the episode, or the Nights watch outfits are not black enough. A 4? Come on, that's a BS a score, if you don't like the show that much you might want to watch something else. I want to see the full 4 review, show me all the bad.
  2. You know Dany is getting a lot hype this episode EmilIa deserves it. But I thought one of the more intrestinng moments of the Episode was Theon's reveal about his feelings about Ned Stark. It's a moment where Theons reality check sinks in hard for him and shortly after that reality real does set in. It's change from the books, but I can understand it, he met his real father, dude is a first class turd, and the man who raised him the last 10 years of his life was everything to him his own father wasn't.
  3. Could of done with a bit more of the sacking of Astapor, thought Jamie's scenes were well done, Mormont and the watch got cut a little short as well. but really only minor details, thought most of the new stuff worked. Looks like Ros is going to find out where whores go, kind of made me smile. 9.6. Best of the year.
  4. It's a song from the books, and Hoat and his men are sining it while they march along the road. It's also a sublime bit of foreshadowing for non readers. I see a lot of people don't get it, don't worry you will, as it is one of Jamie's greatest moments and is connected to Jamie and Bree. By the time this seasons ends you will look back at episode 3 credits and get it. Just remember those credits. How does the Bear and the maiden fair tie to Jamie and Bree? Ha, for shame non reader, for shame. In terms of TV that's about as good as it gets for foreshadowing.
  5. Was it me or did the Jamie cut to credits cue the Bear have a distinct True blood feel about it? Casually brutal, funny, hysterical song. You know the directors know the nailed an episode when they pull something like that. Was reading the Huffington post and so many fans don't get the end credits, they are like what is that music? Who wrote this? Outside of beingfrom the books, it's Bree and Jamie, hello the Bear and the maiden, gosh what does that have to do with Bree and Jamie, and what a perfect little bit of foreshadowing for Harrenhall.
  6. Cersie and Tyrion play a game of chairs, priceless. That brief moment was all about facial expressions, and it played so well. It actually ties into the books a bit in how Tywins kids are often reduced to kids in front of him. There were a lot of highs and Stannis is the only real low, massive change in his character from the books. Still waiting for Tyrion/Sansa, thought it was coming at the Council. Liked that the put some of the characters internal monolouge into script form. Glad the showed the Lannister boys, and you know what that is building up to. You can see the age and see one of the reasons Robb gets pissed. To many people on this board stand up for Karstark. You can see where the journey of Reek is going, someone is training his pet. Jamie and Bree banter was different, but I can actually understand some false bravado by both parties in their present situation. The Hot Pie scene was really well done, short but sweet. The bread was great, excuse me, really good. Mance? Seriously, I am not feeling it at all, and they are just chopping the hell out of it. Might asa well just cut it from the show at this rate. I don't even think the producers want to film it, they would rather put Tyrion and Shea in a scene then even bother with the north. Sam, something missing there? Maybe an important moment in his life? Let me guess he saves the baby and that's when he kills the Other.
  7. Well I am one of the more critical viewers, I gave episode 1 a 4 or 5 and episode 2 a 5-6, did not really enjoy either. Episode 3 I give an 8.8. The Brotherhood was great, Riverrun and Blackfish, they nailed it. Tyrion, and Cersie playing musical chairs had me rolling, did not see that coming. Pod, I get the Pod change and he got some props, makes sense but the whole it was free thing, was outstanding. Dany is building up to a great moment, and it keeps in line with her attitude in the books during that period. Had me wondering n the books and even though I know, I was still like whats with the attitude? Jamies scenes were more subtle that I thought and I actually thought they would change things and make him lose an eye. Really well done. I had one problem, Stannis, that was it and I just thought they butchered him. But to much good to bring the grade down much. Also I loved the extended scenes, giving the characters more time, it felt far less choppy. The transition from Dragonstone to Astapore was near perfect, simple but perfect. Special shout out to Hot Pie, they three kids have not gotten much time but in that moment they translated so much emotion. Thats tough to do considering a lack of development for that story. The hound was only in it for a second, but it was perfect second for him, "watch your head." No Shea = huge bonus. There was emotion, there was plot, there was great acting and they managed to squeez in some funny moments without dumbing down the show. I am waiting for it to come on again so I can watch it again Just to see the look on Cersie's face when she moves the chair. Priceless, that my might be the best funny moment the show has ever had. Although I was expecting Sansa/Tyrion and thought that was the perfect lead in and just was left waiting for it. The looks that Varys was throwing back and forth, OMG, where did they come up with that, so Childish and yet so right. You can tell Tyrion thought it was Childish but had to do it anyone because Cersie did it and he had to one up her. I telling you, it was genius. The looks of the people at the table, can't stop laughing about it. Just look at there faces while all this is going on. Renewed faith in the series after watching this.
  8. Not really a fan of the episode, I didn't love or hate it, so I gave it a five. Not sure why the hate for the Cat scene, I didn't like it but I can understand the logic in her train of thought. What really preplexed me was why they even shot it, didn't really feel like it was needed. They complain about having to much material to shoot but keep making up scenes and cutting out meterial.I get why they do it sometimes but sometimes they just don't need to do it. Same for Tyrion this week, I like the Dink and he is a hell of an actor, but that was by far the worst scene I have seen in the series, the acting was flat and the writing boardered on a sitcom. Thought Sophie Turner was excellent this week, and her scene with the Queen of thornes was pretty much pitch perfect. Love the fact that she got across that she would never have said anything, but they brought up her father and you can catch that flash of anger. Once that was out there was no point in her holding back. I love the cat and mouse game Marg is playing with Joff, and the fact Joff has no clue he is the mouse, Jack was once again outstanding. I think the woman playing Marg is doing a good job, considering she does not really fit the part. I always found her annoying in the books and here she still annoys me, not really in a bad way though. Thought the fight with Jamie and Bree needed more build up, and would have liked to have seen the two actors more this week, but god forbid the Dink is not in an episode. Also would have prefered a closer adaptation from the books. The fight in the books had more tension, frustration and anger, it also felt a little like some strange form of... for lack of a better word, flirting. Also she beat Jamie way to easily, it boardered on humiliation. That fight ends up setting up some common respect between the two and not one person destroying the other. They became much more like peers because of that fight. In this case it felt like HBO was changing Brees name to little miss Mary Sue. The Reeds, what a waste, they skipped the intro so we could see Dink get a an old fashioned. As a reader of the books I know who those characters are like the back of my hand. But for the people who have not read the books, they saw two total strangers, from god knows where, walk up and all of a sudden they are just going with Bran. Who are they? Why are they there? How did they find Bran? What is there purpose? Nothing it was just like hey we're going with you. Jon Snow. When are they going to actually put Jon on the show? He is about as pivitol a character as you will find in the series and his story is by and large abscent from the show. You know take out the very unnecessary and pointless Cat and Dink scenes and you could of had more Bree and Jamie, more Jon, more Arya and the Merry Men, and and actually introduce the Reeds, that was a pure hack job. Also Reek is better as a surprise but this should be an intresting journey to watch. Get rid of the added scenes and the show is going to flow betten and you will get a little more time with the none Tyrion characters to develop their stories and characters. I thought Sansa and the Queen saved the show this week from being a total mess. It was all over the place, had horrible pacing and just about every actor not playing Tyrion is getting cut short by a lack of time and development. It's a 5, all five belonging to Sophie and Jack.
  9. Gave it a 4 and thought I was being generous. Dany's scense were ok, but not much going on. Arrival of Selmy was expected and fell flat for me, didn't feel any emotional context there. Selmy's feeling about the Targs was never explored on the show, but now it's very important to him. Got a quick look at Drogon, that was great, all five seconds of it. In the North, the Wildlings felt flat, boring, and grey. Jon once again not getting much time on screen, makes perfect sense, after all he is not really in the books at all. Sam suddenly sees his story change, totally failed his job. I am pretty sure the producers, directors, and writers are using cliff notes written by a person with ADD. Mance and the Giant member felt generic in terms of their personalities. Shea and Ros got a scene, that's super. Who wants Sansa and Littlefinger together, when we can have Shea and Ros? Bronn, could care less about the multiple scences he found himself in. Tyrion, has about the only note worthy scene in the entire episode, Tyrion and Tywin. It's nota great scene but it is very good. Harrenhall with Robb and Cat??? The show is just going fully off script at this point. Davos, for the first time I did not really enjoy his scenes, it felt a bit forced and rushed, and of course rather different from the books wasn't it. Thought Stannis could of done more than stand or sit there. Davos and his exploding temper? Whatever. Felt all in all like a bunch of flat scense strung together and only one of them had any real impact. Oh wait almost forgot Marg and the orphans, no wait I forgot on purpose. You know I made Jiffy pop for this and this was not Jiffy Pop worthy.
