  1. There had to have been a reason for the Oberyn and Vary's conversation. I think this is laying the ground work for Dorne supporting Aegon. They don't like to keep anything off screen for too long or to blind side the audience. It's probably why they had Yara attack the dreadfort too. I thought the Ironbank scene was very good and the shot of the Titan of bravos looked perfect and the overview of Bravos looked cool. I wish I could use Google streetview on it.
  2. I gave it a solid 10 .If you won't give a 10 for the trial scene alone then you are dead inside. The dreadfort scene was a bit odd but only from a book readers point of view. They are Ironborn and he was their prince and he was shitting himself and out of his mind he wanted to be caged up with the dogs.I think that was perfectly executed the Ironborn despise what Reek is no wonder Yara said Theon was dead. I have to go with the Emilia Clarke critics tonight, that scene with Hizdar was cringe worthy to the extreme, hopefully they can recover what she lost tonight with more vulnerabilty and emotion in her performances having said that I think the writing hit the right note The trial was fantastic Peter Dinklage was phenomenal. I liked the small council discussing Daenery's especially Tywin complaining about how stupid Joffrey was for dismissing ser Barristan.I wonder will people be complaining about the white washing of Tywin. The only things that I didn't like at all were the Vary's and Oberyn discussion and Oberyns "and did you fuck him like it was his last night on earth" Just thought it had no class. overall I thought it was a great episode by far the best of the season so far. It had a dragon burning things up and a lion tearing people apart :)
  3. I gave it an 8 could of done without the cersei Margaery scene , found it a bit hard to believe locke could sneak in take a look around and report back and then that Bran and the scooby gang could escape it all without any of the nightswatch seeing them. What was the point in that change anyone have a clue??
  4. Impressive Math skills but the slave children weren't crucified in the first 10 mins of the same episode as the infamous rape scene. at crasters
  5. In the show it was 163, as far as fitting with the story/character its all subjective, who is to say the horrific scenes Grrm writes are more acceptable than something written by Bryan cogman. My point was that no one complained about a gratuitous amount of crucifixions.
  6. There were 163 people crucified in the first 10 mins and there wasn't any sign of outrage from the viewers about it.
  7. That's a really interesting point. I felt that because they showed so much of Robb's campaign and how adept he was as a war commander that the writers might have decided that showing Jon in a similar fashion might be too much for the viewers to accept that there were these two boys raised together as brothers that both discover themselves as military commanders that's not to say that they will never do so but they could be delaying this development. Jon has proven himself with the infiltration of the wildlings and his scout report. He was the only one that thought strategically about how the mutineers might reveal to Mance that the wall is only manned by a small force. I have heard people rubbishing this idea that Mance would believe Jon's claim that there were a 1000 men at castle black alone, but from Mance Rayder's point of view he doesn't know how indifferent most of westeros are to the Wytes and to the threat of the wildling invasion for all he knows the troops could be pouring in to guard the wall at the very least it would be cause for concern and extra preparation.
  8. If I were a brother of the nights watch Id be suspicious of every person that joined . They are mostly rapists and murdering thieves . i don't know why people would expect Jon to be suspicious of Lockes story in particular . He would never suspect that Locke had any ulterior motives .I would imagine its not uncommon for recruits to make up bullshit stories of why they ended up at the wall. If Jon suspected lockes story was bs he would just take it that Locke was a deserter from the war.
  9. I've watched this episode more than ten times now and what was the most pointless and boring scene to me at first viewing is now the most intriguing . i am talking about the Missandei and greyworm scene at the beginning .It clearly shows us the level of animosity greyworm has for the masters and the blossoming romance between the two. I wonder if in the book and on the show greyworm will become increasingly unhappy with how Danny progresses with her emancipation of the slaves of slavers bay to the point were he comes to see Daenerys as a master and plots to kill her using missandei .it could also tie in with the prophecy that Dany will be betrayed for love.
  10. This is the first time I've given an episode a 10 , just fantastic episode 4 has been the best at least these last seasons. This episode spun my head around like something from the exorcist it just blew my mind, at first I had a huge problem with the ghost being captured scene like other people I was sure it couldn't happen and was confused about why they would keep ghost alive, but after I thought about the changes they had already made with ghost not being with Jon when he went with the wildlings and instead fighting with Lord Commander Mormont at the fist even saving Sam from a white walker. My explanation for what we saw last night is. The self proclaimed fucking legend of gin alley saw what Ghost can do to a White and thought rather have it around than dead at the very least it might give us a signal if there are whites around. I think Sam put ghost in the cage before the mutiny happened. It might also be possible that some of the mutineers like Jon ,he had his run in with Craster too .They could also be scared of him he has after all been smacking the shit out of them in training. anyway I think there are more reasons to keep ghost alive than to just stab him especially if he was in the cage before the mutiny. My only problems with this episode were Dany's scenes being rushed .I have always liked Emilia Clarkes portrayal of Dany however last nights "I will answer injustice with justice " was cringe worthy to say the least and the scene with greyworm learning the common tongue was irritating and pointless. Whoever posted about the Queen of thorns saying "it was all the rage" thanks because now it really bugs me too. It's been a while since I was able to sit on the edge of my seat with the other viewers like I did the first season before I read the books so thanks for that D&D. I did laugh to myself during the Jaime and Tyrion scene because they are supposed to be brothers but their accents are nothing alike. I think Peter dinklage is great as Tyrion but his accent does veer off into the Austin powers impersonation territory .I had noticed that Tywin and Jaime have very similar accents perhaps they should of sent Peter dinklage to the same dialect coach or just sat him down with a boxset of everything Charles Dance has ever been in although They should really do that with every actor on the show to be fair.I am going to say it the Margery visiting Tommen in his bedroom scene was hot. I can just imagine what it would of been like for me at his age to have a hot woman like Margery coming to my bed at night and telling me that I will own her soon.It was made even more sexually charged by the Margery scene that preceded it with the Queen of Thorns stories of her sexploits and then encouraging Margery to do the same with Tommen. The reveal of the nights king at the end Transforming one of craster's babies into a white walker will have us all theorizing for months at least until the next book comes out *cough (after the end of this season)
  11. I gave it a 9 I really liked this episode seemed so short obviously because I was enjoying it.My only pet pee-ve was wishing Daario had of pissed on the Champion to make up for strong Belwas not taking a shit. I think it was a bit of a cop out to be honest.
  12. Thats a huge conclusion to jump to. I know from the books that people suspected it might of been Sansa but that was mainly because she disappeared after it. The fact there was a plot to rescue Sansa might of been purely Coincidental .It was an obvious distraction and the perfect point in time for Sansa even without Joffrey's death
  13. Tyrion clearly wasn't willing to rape sansa as Tywin wanted or produce an heir any time soon.It is perfectly plausible that Tywin found out about the promise Tyrion made to Sansa. He may of intended Jaime to marry Sansa after Tyrion was killed. I don't think milk of the poppy would of solved the Joffrey problem he was the king you can't circumvent his Authority all of the time.
  14. From reading the books I always suspected that It was Tywin that poisoned Joffrey , and from their interactions in the show especially season 3 I am even more convinced. If you look at it logically who has the most to gain from the results of his death. Joffrey was out of control and Cersei challenged Tywin to try and control him.Jaime is commander and personal body guard to Joffrey so he would naturally assume that Cersei would blame him and a rift would form between them. The fact Tyrion was accused could of been something he planned for as well, he was well aware that cersei hates him almost as much as he does. The result he splits Jaime and cersei up returning his Son and heir to Casterley rock to marry and continue the lannister line .He gets rid of a Tyrant king replaces him with his nicer grandson Tommen and has his dwarf son executed. Its a win win win situation for him.
  15. Why would that be significant enough to be in a prophetic dream? I think its far more likely to be what most unsullied would assume it to be Dany flying over kings landing on a dragon.
  16. I gave it a 5 .There were a few things I was shaking my head about. Oberyn sauntering into kings landing and basically revealing his motivations like a bad scooby doo villain .He would be aware of what happened to Ned stark even with hundreds of his personal guard he wouldn't be secure enough to be so openly belligerent..There are too many tell it like it is Characters not enough Characters that play their cards close to their chest.I thought the actor who played Oberyn was spot on just didn't like what he had to work with, I don't believe he would of confided in Tyrion.I don't know why no one in Westeros knows a song other than Rains of Castamere , They didn't need to have him stab some random Lannister soldier in the wrist to understand that he is dangerous man and a great warrior.Talking of another great warrior, Loras Tyrell its a shame D&D have continued to shit all over this Character he was never such a laughing stock in the books as they portrayed him as in the show, now they have his own grandmother calling him a silly little boy and laughing at the idea of him being defeated by Brienne. That entire scene with Olenna,Margery and Brienne was so pointless and contrived. Is it just me or has Shae been moaning at Tyrion for 3 seasons now? Why would he be in love with her she's hardly fun to be around. They dropped the ball with their portrayal of that relationship. Arya in the Tavern I thought her delivery was a little off it was as if she were reading it from a piece of paper rather than actually mimicking what he had said to Lommy but that's the Directors fault entirely. The fenns, I loved the description one poster gave of them being like the bad guy from the Highlander movie .It was as if his instructions were to have as deep a voice as possible stand like a bad scifi movie villain and just look dangerous. The new Daario had all the screen presence of a wet blanket. Positives, kit Harrington delivered one of his best performances .The hound was fantastic "what the fucks a Lommy" Is a line I will be laughing about for a while. The dragons looked incredible and the girl nailed to the post looked as gruesome as I had imagined it from the books..I don't buy Jaime not staying true to his oath , They ruined his character,The whole episode was a little too slow overall.
  17. If Margaerey married Fageon that would really throw the cat amongst the pigeons, especially if she were to become pregnant by him. I think the dye would be cast as far as the Tyrells are concerned . Ever since I heard the story of how the Tyrells came to rule over Highgarden ive had a gut feeling that they will be wiped out at some point in the story. It was a Targaryen invasion that brought them to power and it will be an invading Targaryen that will remove them from it (Daenerys)
  18. The Robb/wind scene made my heart sink even more so than the Redwedding. The fact that they broke the guest rite was one thing but to desecrate his body and mock him like that was sickening, I had actually expected that they wouldn't do it , but when I seen it play out , I had the exact same feelings as I did when I read it perhaps even more so with Arya witnessing it , so kudos to them for holding their nerve on that. Unfortunately there was a lot I didn't like about this episode. Sansa and tyrion bffs was just wrong and pointless as was the Varys and shae scene I understand that the latter has been theorized to be plot build up but I really feel that the wheels of the Shae and Tyrion romance chariot fell off long ago at least from a TV audiences point of view ( I could be wrong on that but I doubt it) I don't want to cause controversy here by suggesting that the rumors that a female member of the cast refused to do any more topless or nude scenes might of been about the actress that plays Shae. Its perfectly within her rights as an actress to refuse to do nude scenes but in the context of her character and the story i think it does stand out and lessen the realism of her relationship with Tyrion on screen and it removes a dimension to the character that she has in the books that she uses intimacy to convince Tyrion she loves him, now she just comes across as a moody sulking figure in the background with no real reason to be held in great esteem by Tyrion I feel like the writers of the show are making a huge blunder with the progression of Tyrions story . The scene with Jon and Ygritte was so bad in acting , dialogue and setting i found myself choking on my coffee with laughter .They should of respected their tv audience enough to spare them this long and drawn out melodrama by jon and his Ygritte . That scene was better served being in darkness ( to hide the marx brother sketch of Ygritte hitting him with so many arrows and not killing him with just one in broad daylight, wasn't she a good shot like 3 episodes ago?) in the books Jon doesn't know who shot him with the arrows until later when he sees the feathers on the arrows are Ygrittes, subtlety is lost on the writers of the show at times. Davos and gendry scene stank i don't mean to be offensive to the actor that plays Gendry but the more i see of him on screen he just comes across as very Dim. Daenerys storyline has been very choppy over the last few episodes its a great shame. Cersei and tyrions conversation pointless and cringe worthy at times. Stannis has been made a secondary character in whats become the Red priestesses story i can somewhat understand that with the difficult task of adapting his character from book to screen and making him relatable to a tv audience without them being able to get to know him like he is in written form. The small council scene was fantastic I particularly enjoyed the look of revulsion on Varys face when Joffreys angry hand passed by his face. The scene with Arya killing the frey bannermen was very well done. All in all i give this episode an 8 saved from a 5 rating by Tywin , Tyrion and Arya with a little help from Robb/wind
  19. I thought this episode was superb second only to episode four. I do have to say that if i hadnt of known what was going to happen at the wedding im sure it would of been my favourite episode this season. I watched with a sinking feeling in my stomach the entire time which tells me D&D were doing the story justice. if i can just give my response to a few nitpickers. Talisa would almost definitely be the focus of the freys anger and it was very realistic that they would stab her so many times in the stomach assuming theyve heard rumors of her pregnancy. Other posters have complained of Robbs lack of emotion suggesting that he should of cried but i dont think that would fit with the Stark family upbringing . I know Robb has cried in the past when Eddard was killed , but in the books and on screen there was a definite rite of passage for Robb from boy to Lord to commander and eventually becoming King. Everyone reacts differently while in shock.Catelyns utter despair and vacant expression was more than enough to express the tragedy that had unfolded. I feel that if they had of included the clawing at her face it would of over loaded the Tv viewers with too much of the supernatural in one episode with the earlier warging scene. The acting in this episode was excellent. I am in the minority by saying i really enjoyed the queenscrown scene and had no issues with its dialogue. I was disappointed at seeing greywind uncerermoniously being put down in his pen. I had suspected the story of greywind killing dozens of freys before finally being subdued was a myth or boast told by Robbs enemies to make the whole dastardly deed seem more daring on their part. needless to say i gave it a 10/10 :) cant wait for next weeks episode
  20. For the most part i really liked this episode with a few exceptions, the two girls with Theon scene was dyer there was no reason for it and it was unbelievable . I thought the guy who played the yunkai master was a shit actor really lowerd the standard in this episode. The osha scene was pointless should of been cutout. The bear pit scene was very weak compared to the book. i gave it an 8 bc the rest i enjoyed
  21. I gave this episode a 6 and its not so much for the deviations from the books just the script , I thought the bonding moment between Tyrion and Cersei was excruciatingly bad. The scene with QOT and Tywin was equally as idiotic and repetitive.Arya and Mellisandres interaction was bizarre to say the least. Boltons bastard has been completely miss written comes across like a cheesy scifi villain were as in the books hes just sadistic and totally indifferent to Theon for the most part i dont see the book Ramsay choosing to exclusively spend his time torturing Theon. The impression i had of Ramsay from the book was him sat drinking wine and having a nice time while enjoying the idea of his men ripping Theons toes off and knocking his teeth out. The Osha Meera scene felt like a weak scene from Merlin or some dumb show like that. Loras The Warrior who just happens to be gay being portrayed as a modern era stereotypical gay is a huge dishonor to Grrm powerful charecter crafted novels, it seems this is the path the show writers have decided to walk down .
  22. I gave it another 10. Im embarassed by my cheerleading but from start to finnish it was perfection. The Daenerys scene was everything i had hoped for so epic. Battle at crasters keep was great the guy that killed craster was brilliant. The brother hood without banners confronting Sandor Clegane scene was very good, the new Dondarrion gets top marks bc he looks and sounds as hard as nails, Sandor was spot on as usual and if maisie Williams doesnt get any award nominations this season for playing Arya it will be a crime. I really like the fact they are doing so many Theon scenes because imo Alfie Allen is one of the best actors in the show. Tywin telling cersei what he thinks of her moment i liked that. Tyrion and Varys scene was only second to Danys .When i seen he had that guy in the box i couldnt help but laugh. The locke tormenting Jaime part , the poor guy well then again im not a Jaime hater anyway.D&D sirs i take my hat of to you.
  23. i Gave it 10/10 . Im not one to overly praise episodes of the show but this was as close to perfect as the show makers can get. The screenplay was both well thought out and considered. The battle of chairs scene was hilarious . POD losing his virginity was funny and a nice way of showing the bond growing between Tyrion and his squire. The Riverun scene was stunning in terms of location. Im Irish so i tend to take for granted my countrys natural beauty but that scenery would make anyone proud to live in such a habitat the scene itself was very good . I enjoyed The black fish especially. The shows writers are really taking George RR Martin to school showing him just how much he missed out on by not elaborating on Rob starks Charecter in respect to his strategies and interactions with his commanders and troops. I can just keep listing off scene after scene and say excellent after each. The watch your head scene with the dog , Funny!!! . Theon being chased on horse was amongst the best action sequences so far. I disagree with everyone that thought the horny stannis with mellisandre scene was bad. In the books they are very intimate very sensual dialouge between those two , added to that they cast a very attractive woman as the red priestess so i guess they didnt want to have stannis appear too much of a jesuit as he might if they had of gone with what was in the books between them. I did see fall out from earlier deviations with Jaime lannisters Charecter from the novels to how they portray him on the show. Jaime is not a bad person!!!. He pushed Bran out the window because he had to. It was either Bran who would die or cersei and his own children even Eddard stark understood that. In the show he killed Alton Lannister he didnt in the books the reason i bring it up is that people are viewing his hand being chopped off as being a villian getting what he deserved. I feel that is a real shame and taints the complexity of Jaime Lannister. He saved Brienne from being gang raped because he is good at heart. Gwendoline Christies acting is in this episode in particular was outstanding. Daenerys scenes were my favourite. The chemistry between Barristan the bold ( Ian McElhinney) Emilia Clarke (Daenerys) Iain Glen (Jorah) is fantastic and makes me very optimistic about the future of the show. The whole idea of Danys Charecter is a journey from being sold as essentially a slave by her brother who made all of her decisions for her to learning to Think for herself and believe she has what it takes to rule the world so people who say Emilia clarke isnt a very good actress you must be watching a different show because shes portrayed this role with perfection. The Ironic thing about the punk version of The bear and the maiden fair on the end credits is that it was most likely an attempt to share the significance of the song for ASOIAF readers to the people who have only watched the show.In my opinion it wasnt a good idea , but a great episode.
  24. this episode was a 8/10 for me just thought it was fantastic. I took into account how hard it must of been to adapt the story to screen and keep it at an exciting pace, I felt peter dinklage had one of his best scenes with Charles dance this episode it was an absolute power house performance by both actors. Im surprised people dislike the tv little finger , Varys and Littlefinger operate in a similar fashion in the books but to play out both charecters in this way on screen would be very repetitive .It was a good idea by the shows writers to make littlefinger slightly less guarded when it comes to his schemes .its pretty apparent in the books that little fingers weakness is Catelyn and Sansa Stark it would be reasonable to assume he might feel the need to talk with her in a more open manner. I really enjoyed the scene were Ser Barristan saves Daenerys and im glad they decided to reveal his identity straight away unlike in the books were Grrm dragged that on too much. I liked everything in the scenes from north of the wall except the Sam and ghost in the wrong places bloopers that was sloppy.
