  1. It's not a bad idea. If I were McDaniels I'd be trying to save my job and might pull the trigger on that. Or maybe a pair of 3s
  2. Cousins sharp on that drive. Still think he'll be traded, Ty?
  3. Those uni's were terrible. Get new eyes old man!
  4. Been playing this with my cousin- fantastic multiplayer to campaign through. Having a lot of fun despite having to turn the difficulty down because we keep wandering into areas where my drow bard keeps getting One Shotted. The struggle is real. We've wandered our way into the underdark and had to fight every motherfucker down there. Next time, who knows. Good game. Great multiplayer.
  5. Gaza is not a subject or colony of Israel, neither has it been occupied for almost twenty years. My position has been that Israel is an ally, and a place where people like me could live in safety. And that it not only has a right to defend itself, and its citizens, but an obligation to do so. If the Palestinians put down their guns tomorrow there would be a Palestinian state tomorrow. This is a thread about the war between Israel and Hamas, and it's 100% the fault of the latter that it will be fought among civillians. Don't forget that. One side takes hostages and threatens to shoot them on live TV, the other -tries- to warn civillians out of target buildings. As to the rest, well... I do have a dog in the fight. 2, depending how you count it. So I'll wade into this swamp and get messy; why not? I've never said that Palestine should be subject to Israel, just that Israel has to defend itself with military force against military threats. And that I don't understand what drives fellow liberals to pretzel-brain their way into opposing natural allies in favor of people who -not only have different values- but have opposite values. I mean, I get lamenting the loss of innocent lives. I look at the carnage in Gaza with as much sadness as anybody. It's the pages and pages and pages of material eviscerating Israeli rights to defend themselves, their mandate to do so, that baffles me. Israel is a right wing liberal democracy. Whatever else you can say about them, the state exists to serve its people and protects their basic human rights. Hamas, not so much. I was against both the Iraq and Afghanistan occupations because, despite teaching girls to read, we simply had no business enforcing our collective will (setting aside that that will was lacking) on places on the other side of the world. Israel doesn't have the option of benevolent non-intervention, the places where girls get married as children and gays get thrown off buildings are their neighbors.
  6. Just for the record: "Bomb the violence out of them" was a joke, the target being abysmal U.S. policy. Germany and Japan were very special cases, that's why the practice has worked like exactly twice in a hundred years.
  7. Sometimes you just gotta bomb the violence out of some folks... It's been the cornerstone of American foreign policy since 1945. Meanwhile, regarding Israel trumpeting its superior values towards gays and women... This truly befuddles me, as a classical liberal intent on the equality and advancement of persons everywhere. I simply, categorically, am unable to side with women stoners and gay killers against a progressive society - can't do it. I served alongside women, identify as one myself, and take seriously the forward march of liberal equality. Aligning oneself to people who would never do the same: would probably kill you for the trouble: is probably the most emotionally luxurious passtime I can imagine. What's happening in Gaza is a horror. What's happening in this thread, spite for a natural ally, is a farce.
  8. It's news. It's new, you put an S on it...
  9. Dawg I made 2 posts across 2 threads (this being my 4th). Nice to know I leave an impression though. But, while I'm here. And while the word genocide is getting thrown around I'll defend myself. I don't think I've ever used the G word regarding Russia in Ukraine, because I don't believe Russians are orcs and I don't think their actions in the region genuinely rise to such a horror. My support for Ukraine is and always has been an opposition to Russian expansion and power-projection. I don't think I've ever been anything but clear on that. So I have no problem accepting the reality that thousands and thousands will die in error as part of Israel's response to having its people carried away. That's what happens in war. And thank God that Hamas doesn't have Israel's arsenal or there would be no Israel. An actual genocide, one with intent. War. Shit happens. It's not a nice answer but it's the only one that's true. There's such a gulf between carrying away hostages and errant bombs that you and I will never have a productive conversation on this subject. Live long and prosper, baby.
  10. This gets me. I feel compelled to defend the honor of the IDF, as someone who was in an army myself. Western militaries don't get off on killing civillians. That's -why- this conversation is taking place. Acting like Israel's troops are going to go door to door massacreing, or that they're intentionally killing civillians in a genocidal campaign is an idiot-lensed way to view the situation. Israel was attacked by ACTUAL GENOCIDE-minded actors who use civillians as human shields. Their response is, unfortunately, going to see a lot more people dead. But the fact is that Israel could flatten Gaza. They could bomb indescriminately. They don't. War is a terrible, terrible, thing. But so is having to battle terrorists within rocket and paraglider range.
  11. When you have military problems (violence) you get military solutions. "It's immoral." Is a sadly naive criticism to hold about Israel's response. Israel does care about civilian casualties. It does care about dead children. The proof is Hamas, which only exists because of Israeli restraint among civilians and children to date. A lot of people are going to die of Israeli fire and operations because the enemy uses human shields. The answer is not then to simply give up and accept unilateral bombardment, as some seem to suggest. Hamas is getting what it wanted, bought with blood and returned in kind. Life sucks, war is hell, and blood always follows blood.
  12. Israel is a success and an ally of global liberalism. A success and ally of America. They're allowed to defend themselves, yes, including from vulnerable people. Just because the Palestinians never got their own state in order doesn't mean Israeli Jews should have to live forever with terroristic neighbors. Kinda outing myself here but as a sorta-woman who advanced her life circumstance with military service I find it hard not to side hard with Israel here. They get called fascist and inhumane by people who have no idea what living with hostile neighbors is like. Not fair.
  13. Yeah. Throwing shoulder. I shouldda said he has a -glass- cannon
  14. I'm here to certify that the Richardson kid has a fucking cannon. That is all
  15. Swift-ies(ees)!!! Like, Taylor Swift! Ha! I got the joke... only had to see it twenty times first...
  16. Raken are important in the books. They extend the Seanchan reach and allow them to assault places that should be beyond the front lines.
  17. I bought the Balder's Gate 3 game yesterday but discovered my hard drive is too small for the game. Is it worth upgrading to a bigger hard drive or should I just get a refund?
  18. Yes. All they'll see is their God Emperor slumming it with mortals.
  19. I'd love to learn greek so that I could read Anna Komnenos in her own language. I follow a youtube channel for learning it but I don't use it nearly often enough I retain scattered bits of german from High School but that's it.
