  1. What announcement? I think I missed something
  2. Feeling feisty. Will weigh in. Want it or not, hear I cum: I've been raped. I'm not, strictly speaking, a real girl... but I find the "Believe All Women" slogan to be lazy and infantilizing. Never thought it was a worthwhile tagline. Not even because I think there's a bunch of gals out there making false rape claims, but because you're -by definition- assuming out of hand that a woman might not be capable of lying. Or if she is, that it doesn't matter; the man's (or other woman's perhaps, yikes, how do we resolve that?) innocence is irrelevant in the face of an accusation. I don't even BELIEVE in justice and still that's a fucking appalling moral presupposition in the pursuit of equality and protection of all persons. ALL persons. I think Bill Maher said "governing by hashtag" when talking about terminally online liberals and their concepts of social constructiveness: Correct. Drag Queen Story Hour- I've referenced this once before. I think I said something along the lines of "I just hope parents are taking their kids to the library independent of the freak show." I do not understand what it is about Drag Queening that is supposed to link to teaching kids to read. This legitimately confuses me, except that it is -obviously- a vehicle by which to advance public pro-somethingness or other. What is it, exactly, about a garishly accoutered, frankly whorishly, outfitted gentleman reading a picture book that is so precious to liberals that conservative discontent over this (in my opinion fucking weird) activity is so allegedly revealing as to their horridness as a people? Serious question. Please educate me, because I'm a trans person. I rode my bike to the library every fucking day (often to talk to a lot of y'all, no internet) when I was young. I think it's fucking weird. I'm not disputing your right to expose your kids to whatever weirdness you wanna; but I'll stick my neck out in this space saying I don't think there's a damn thing wrong with a conservative, liberal, or anything-at-all parent who doesn't understand what the fuck that's all about. The drag queen hour, more than anything else maybe, is a thing that makes me nervous about blowback. I just don't understand it, and actually have a hard time not-understanding why someone might think it's inappropriate: Not exactly age-appropriate, no matter your ideology
  3. What did Elon do? That's two tethers you've made between the men in as many threads. I've said mean things about E-dizzle but what's up? That's some hateful comparison there.
  4. I didnt say he was good at debating. I said he's amazing at debates. Country of 350 million, probably 50,000-ish actually give a fuck about substance, let alone have the tools to parse it. The rest are there for the freak show. He's gonna attack on Covid, school shutdowns, inflation, defense spending in Ukraine, say "Nukes, Nukes, scary Nukes" a few times and start ranting about Hunter's laptop. None of it has to be coherent. None of it has to be true. He just has to say it over and over again like some kind, idk, some kind of Big Lie.
  5. If I'm McCarthy, I burn everything for the chance to do this again next year. "He's campaigning in Wisconsin instead of doing the debt ceiling!" Talk about fitting on a TikTok. Goddammit, but Republicans are just better at politics. I hate them, but waddaya gonna do?
  6. And it fits on a TikTok timeline, or whatever they use. Z, I can speak for myself and maybe one or two others here I think when I say that there is no attempt to say ANTIFA or Wokies is/are as great a threat as Trumpist psychos. Or much of a practical threat at all. That ain't what I'm saying at least. The problem is that PEOPLE HATE ANTIFA AND WOKENESS People. Voters, not Twitterers. Illustration: I am a liberal. I have bargaining power at governance. I am happy to work with the kookiest of libtards. I ain't gotta like ya for you to be part of the team. I will cut off my own hands before offering them to the VAST majority of "Republicans", for democracy concerns. And I would also tell those kooky motherfuckers on my own side that they're making my job harder with their fucking insanity to their face and still be inclined to work with them. That is NOT both-sidesing the respective extremes of the spectrum. It's wanting to win. ??? Trump is amazing in debates. Don't you remember 15/16?????? Biden had Challenger Status and a genuinely statesman air about him in 2020, as well as links to a happier time. That will not be the case next year.
  7. Where do you hide yourself from me? Your radiance is a salve too long denied Meanwhile, I don't normally read articles then comment about them here (or anywhere) but I just read something about debate judges being ideologically biased these days over on The Free Press and... Yo, apparently one of these judges describes herself (in, like a pre-brief for the debaters) as a Marxist-Leninist-Maoist and wants the debaters to KNOW that before they compete under her critique. Marxist-Leninist-Maoist... I mean, Jesus-Fuckinist-Christist This is a judge! An "educated" authority! A fucking MAOIST!?!?!?!?! What the fuck did Mao stand for besides consolidation of power and murdering fifty million of his own people? ETA: and, assuming it's not a typo on the article writer's part, this person spelled "rightist" as "rightest" when saying she wouldn't vote for any rightist arguments. Out of hand. Pre-presentation. She wants you to KNOW this about her. That's fuckin wild. So glad I thought selling my life to the state was worth a ticket to such pathways of enlightenment.
  8. I think it's important to be able to critique one's own side/positions without being ostracized: Hello, Republican Party Meanwhile, I think there's three types of non-Republican/non-"independents" 1) Rearing motivated - They vote for "liberals" or Democrats, end of insight. Anti-Republican gestation or pro-Democrat gestation in formation of worldview/lever pulling is irrelevant. They vote Democrat. 2) Interest motivated - They're getting something out of Democratic Party advancement. Could be anything: Pro-Union, Anti-Cop Killings, Pro-Socialism, Anti-Fascist. Some sense of return on voting effort. 3) Response motivated - Generally young, stupid, "well" """""""" educated """"""", uninformed about actual life outside of classroom or twitter. They don't want anything except for you to know that they don't want what you want. Obviously the Republicans have literal fascists running their shit. Have literal militant groupings and have displayed intention to overthrow democracy. If I was your dictator there wouldn't be any Republicans in this country, not after Jan. 6 I ain't your dictator, don't really wanna be. Coexistence is the only path forward. I cannot alter the worldviewings and political monstrosities of the right-wing. Will not abdicate cognizance of the left-wing's deficiencies simply because it is inconvenient to some over-nurtured and poorly, though extensively, educated imbeciles who think that every thought that passes through their self-important heads is a sociological dictate from a higher power. Just my thoughts.
  9. Never seen Wild Things, but I'll concede the point. "I'm a nuhk-you-lar phys-ed-iscist" Her talents were much better utilized by my man Verhoeven. Speaking of Verhoeven, I once described Hollow Man (another fave) to an acquaintance as follows: "You like seeing Kevin Bacon in movies right? Well, imagine you couldn't see him at all!"
  10. Currently vacillating between rewatching The World is Not Enough, maybe my favorite Bond movie, and watching (for the first time) No Time to Die. Anybody got a snap-recommendation between the two? Craig is a great Bond, no doubt about it. And I am one of the few people on earth who seemed to enjoy Quantum of Solace, but Spectre was pretty disappointing. Not a bad movie, but y'know... Casino Royale - 10/10 Quantum of Solace - 7/10 (that's a perfectly good score on my scale, because...) Spectre - 5/10 (Average. Just a movie. Not really memorable in any way except for the Dr. King Schultz torture scene. It wasn't a bad movie, just a movie.) So, anyway, any Bond aficionados lurking to give me a quick recommendation?
  11. Just saw the D&D movie. Dope. Good fun. Chris Pine was fucking hilarious. I have no problem enjoying him in the Star Trek movies, all the actors in them are great, but he really shined here as Michele Rodriguez kicked ass. Fun movie. The whole cast was good. Would recommend.
  12. Caught up on Barry. What a show.
  13. I don't think you're incorrect. But I do think that you undersell his luck. "You make your own luck." - A Woman Who Chose Poorly
  14. Sorry, some unseen force compelled me to purchase supermarket seafood. I'm gonna get so sick. This might be goodbye. Don't let them call it suicide. Shrimpicide After the Supermarket is a headline I can live with : or die with, as it were
  15. "Flawed" in what way? Flawed in the way the night sky is flawed, because it won't blow me no matter how much I ask? Or flawed in the way that your taste in genius is flawed? (Joking guys, you're allowed to have bad taste)
  16. I made it to 11 seconds. Which is about half-a-second after the first VoiCE INflecTION to sell A QUEstion?
  17. Like, it's foundational. Baked in to the party, and I don't think your superstitious devotion to bar graphs bears it out. Elections are not won by being within margins of polling error or winning popular votes or having popular positions. Or positions at all. Some places just don't fucking like Democrats, for the simple reason that you people talk like assholes. That's fucking real. It is now and will continue to determine the increasingly insolvent future of this ramshackle of a country.
  18. The dollar isn't what it used to be Neither is The American, for that matter
  19. Not a political scientist but I think Rs get something out of not looking at prospective voters who would struggle to replace a broken window without financing and saying shit like "in the aggregate your economy is wholesale, with good ballast and blibberdorp. Blibberdorp, blibberdorp, blibberdorp. Smigglesmackle! Smag smag sigatag. Yes, I will take fries with that as I pretend to pretend enjoying slumming it with you repulsive creatures. Don't forget your list of RightThink jargons to bring to the voting booth, now! We wouldn't want you to need re-educating." But that's just, like, my opinion man.
