  1. I totally agree. Very succinct way of describing how a lot of people are thinking I feel. I have always had SOME problems with SOME episodes of the show, and not every episode can be good, but Episode 506 just left me with nothing but feeling like I was watching a poorly written version of a different story. Even if you have no problem with D&D's version of the Sansa "BeddingGate", the rest of the episode was still garbage.
  2. I have never said that an adaptation needed to follow the books every word. But I'm not going to sit here and argue for the 50th time why the past episode sucked. I don't think episodes 1-5 were terrible. In fact, I even thought that Jamie going to Dorne could end up in some kind of interesting arc/conclusion. Instead it was rushed, the Sand Snakes looked like teenage mutant ninja turtles and the battle scene (if you can call it that) was the worst in the show's history. So that all went down the drain. At this point why not follow the book and have Cersei acting like a paranoid lunatic? Why not have Margery taken prisoner with no suspicion? Why not have Cersei try to get a Kingsguard to seduce Margery and some of her cousins? Why not have Cersei dabble with her lesbian fantasies with a hot Mediterranean looking chick? That would have been a lot more satisfying than watching Sansa raped and tortured even more than she already has been for no good reason and in a way that makes no sense in the story. Again why would the Boltons even need Sansa to rule the north if they just kept up their alliance with the Lannisters? Its just unnecessary. This episode was really bad. And the other commentators are right, people really don't know WTF is going on. When I watch with my girl, she asks me to pause it every 10 minutes to explain things to her and she isn't even on season 5 yet.
  3. True. But at least it was close to the actual story, and the Hall of Faces was kinda cool. I prefer if they didn't use Jaquen as the mentor at first but I guess for TV it works to use the same actor. We'll see how they do with Cat of the Canals. But yeah, I guess you are right. The whole episode sucked.
  4. I went back and watched the last 2 episodes of season 4 with my girlfriend last night, and the battle scenes in those episodes were EPIC. Contrast that to the random garbage in Dorne last night, with the horrific acting, stupid story line in general, and the absolutely ridiculous and empty character of the Sand Snakes (power rangers as someone else said earlier) in general. Forget about Sansa, as bad as that is. The episode was boring, the battle scenes were comical and the show has definitely taken a turn for the worse. Arya and Jorah and Tyrion were at least 10 minutes of watchable TV. I enjoyed the first few episodes to an extent, even though some of it was trash. I didn't mind the Sons of the Harpy scene, even with Selmy being killed, it was a good battle. This episode was just bad. I don't see how anyone who has either watched the show and read the books or just watched the show could give it above a 5.
  5. They are only openly rebelling against the Lannisters because they are effectively harboring Sansa, no? Unless I missed something there. I just disagree. I think this episode in particular was really bad, and there were plenty of ways to depict the bastard Bolton having his way with Sansa without showing her crying as she is pretty much raped in front of someone she grew up with, and who she assumes killed her brothers. She doesn't have enough reasons for revenge against the Boltons/Lannisters already?? How much fuel needs to be added to the fire? Jeyne Poole was a minor character in the book so her being brutalized wouldn't anger people as much. Believe me, that scene is not being taken well by people who only watch and write about the show. That is my opinion of course, but it is not the only reason I think this past episode was the worst of the series.
  6. OK even if we forget about the controversy about the rape, fake Arya is not a fugitive because of the murder of Joffrey. Which is why the Jeyne Poole/Fake Arya thing would have been cool. I haven't read ADWD in 2 years so I don't remember all the details. Besides that, the episode was slow, boring. Margery is taken when she is not suspecting it in the books which would make a lot more sense than in front of the Kingsguard that is sworn to protect her. Is Tommen that much of a p****Y that he wouldn't tell his boys to cut down a bunch of anorexic robe men when they grabbed his wife? It was just poorly done in so many ways. And Dorne was the worst as many have already said.
  7. Not really. You can condense things and have made the Sansa story minimal (which it becomes anyway at this point in the story). Instead, as one AngryGOTfan put it: "The writers, 2 grown men, waited for the actress to come of age, and then had her raped." The entire thing was for shock value. It adds nothing to the story, and makes zero sense. Why would the Boltons who already have iron-clad control of the North, through their alliance with the Lannisters, care about Sansa? They already have Winterfell!!! And if anything, all it would do is piss of Cersei and the Lannister/Baratheon king, no? Sansa is still wanted for murder! The marriage doesn't strengthen anything it weakens their position if Cersei or the Lannisters find out. And that is just one thing wrong with it.
  8. I think this posting pretty much sums it up
  9. I think without question this episode was the worst ever. a) It was slow and boring, even the scenes from the House of Black and White are slow and more entertaining in the novels. b) Even though it makes me seem like a book snob, the butterfly effect has just gotten out of control. You can omit things but still stay very close to the main story. The Jeyne Poole story could have been easily thrown in while Sansa stayed at the Vale, (just pick one of LF's hookers and ship her north, would take 5 minutes of one episode and 5 in another). c) The rape scene, and I don't think its debatable, was just awful. And I usually love the abnormal amount of violence in the show. I hated Sansa's POV in the books, but it just seemed like it was for shock value as many other have said, and unnecessary. Should have been Jeyne. The whole thing was written poorly. d) DORNE. I don't think I even need to say anything. Just the dumbest story line so far in the show, completely useless. Even if book 6 has Jamie or someone trying to "rescue" Myrcella from the Water Gardens (I doubt it will), the fight scene would be better in my imagination. e) The writers should have and could have incorporated Younf Griff into the show somehow. I feel like its important, it could have been totally different from the books in the way that Tyrion comes into contact with them, but it would have been a better way to incorporate Dorne in the strory IMO. This season has been pretty bad, especially compared to last season which had 3 or 4 epic episodes at the end. By far the worst season so far.

I hope it will be in there, I think some of it has to be, but like the rest of this season I think they will cut it dramatically short. Remember, first Jon has to have his love affair with Ygritte, who we hopefully see naked (love redheads, even though she is grimy), then he has to assualt their camp, Bran warging or whatever as Summer assisting, and then Jon escapes to defend Castle Black. If they do it right, this should extend over a few episodes. Anyone know if there are only 10 episodes this season? I wish they could make it 13, but I guess the budget for this show is probably pretty outraegous to begin with. People who think that Joffrey will be killed this season are sorely mistaken and who knows what else they will change. How they end up doing the Bran scenes from ADWD is anyone's guess, I would think a lot of computer graphics and what not would be necessary. The whole Sansa plot is unfolding strangely too, I don't see who is going to play the part of Dontos, and I really don't think her marriage to Tyrion will take place this season. I also have no idea who will give her the veil of death, possibly the Queen of Thorns just to take all the speculation from the books out which they seem to like to do these days. As far as Stannis defending Castle Black, we don't even know where Melissandre is going, that was never in the book, so who knows. It would be pretty hard for them to just leave that out I would think.

The character they created to replace the Bloody Mummers I believe? It's been a while but Vargo was the guy who cut off Jaime's hand and they were a group of outlaws. Not really a huge change, but not sure why they would do this. And Locke was under the Bolton banners I think, so he would be under obligation to return him to Robb. I doubt Robb would have wanted Jaime's hand cut off without his consent, and the Northmen would know that so it doesn't make sense in that regard but whatever.

You are right the actors probably don't want to wait 3 years before coming back to the show. Also I agree that no Sam the Slayer is weak (I think this has probably been eliminated by now, and he actually DID get off the Ravens, which they said he didn't in the first episode).

I agree with you for the most part, we don't get to see her thoughts shich is a big part of it. They have ways of doing this on TV (voices in the background etc) but they haven't done it in the show yet so I doubt they will start now. Agreed that budget constraints probably shortened the Astapor scene, but scenes like that are what make the show. Not long, boring Catelyn monolouges. I can't even imagine how much it costs HBO to make the show but I'm sure they are making it back or they wouldn't have renewed them for another season. Maybe because I read the books after seeing season 1 and 2 is why I am minorly disappointed by this season, which is understandable, but I watched Seasons 1 and 2 again after I read the books and liked them just as much. I dunno I just feel like something is missing so far this season. And I don't like them adding storylines and changing time frames like having Theon just show up now when he didn't come back to the story before ADWD.

Without a doubt. And then episode 10 will be the last of the season, leading into season 4 where we have to wait another year to see Joffery's creepy face choke to death. This is the spoilers thread people sorry if you click the wrong one and I ruin it for you.

They have already said that this season is only the 1st half of Book 3! Therefore, there will be no Purple Wedding. Most likely the season will end before Tyrion and Sansa marry as well. The Red Wedding will be close to if not the end of the season. I think GRRM said he would have to hide from the internet after an episode this season and we all know what that means.
