  1. Solid 8 from me, mostly for the post-RW scenes, Arya and the Hound killing those stinking Freys, and I did love the Yara scene, nicely done. I really was hoping to see Lady Stark pulled from the river - would've been awesome to fade from Dany crowd-surfing (What was cheesy about it? Very in keeping with her character thus far) to Cat's lifeless body pulled from the river and ended it there, with Beric and Thoros. That would've been a great cliffhanger. Overall, not an exciting episode, but setup for (the agonizingly long wait for) season 4.
  2. even being spoiled as a non-reader i AM STILL SHAKING. damn, Michelle Fairley made me cry...oh my god, what a world, what a world...
  3. speaking as a non-reader, I am surprised by how much I'm rooting for the Lannisters at this point, or at least for Tyrion and especially Jaime now, compared to how I felt after Season 1 (and even the very first episode).
  4. not wanting to offend anyone, but I kinda felt the same about this episode (especially after last week) and so it was a bit of a buzzkill to come here and find all the negative reviews. but I understand difference of opinion and have lurked here long enough to know it's par for the course. glad others enjoyed it though!
  5. thanks for the welcome - I'm so obsessed with this show, nothing better on television that I've seen in years. I love that there's now a place to go to geek out after each episode. I do intend to read the entire series, but am in no hurry. As for spoilers, welllll, between this place and YouTube i'm unfortunately pretty spoiled.
  6. My kneejerk reaction too was that it was one of the best this season, but eh, what do I know, I haven't read the books (well, midway through Book 1 but am not really sure I want to let fidelity to source material sway me from enjoyment of the show, so I'm not sure I want to finish it anytime soon...). It's kind of blowing my mind that people can say that nothing happened. lots of setup I agree, but I didn't feel like anything was terribly extraneous..maybe annoying (i.e Theon/torture, Robb/Talisa, but I see why they're doing it, and the nudity/sex doesn't bother me at all either). I was actually dreading the bear pit scene thinking it might be too brutal, but it was nicely done and while I would've loved to see Jaime toss Locke into the pit I loved that they choose to end it that way, with him sheathing his sword with disgust as the the Rains of Castamere began to play. I loved this episode! not the best but worth rewatching (as opposed to The Climb - the first GoT episode I had no desire to rewatch). and the DRAGONS.
  7. Man, tough crowd. I enjoyed the character moments and someone mentioned it was beautifully shot. I agree. Also am a non book reader really just enjoying the show on its own merits. Loved Tywin and Joffrey, and loved the bit of Blackwater aftermath during the Gendry/Mel scene. And Hound sighting!! I'm happy - solid 8.
