  1. I always read the nitpicking thread, I find it pretty over the top and childish, but largely fair and true. However, I really enjoyed this episode and would go as far to say it is the best episode since Rains of Castemere, maybe even Balour (My favourite). I have now read the nit picking thread and I had to stop after a few pages. This episode has finally cemented in my head that the show is not the books, and shouldn’t be judged upon them. I feel that as a stand alone 25 minutes of TV, the intro to this episode was one of the greatest things I have seen (I would rank it up with SPOILERS: The end of season 4 of the Wire, Andreas murder in Sopranos, Stringer Bells death in the Wire). Reading the nit pick thread, which I have enjoyed reading for years, I just felt it was petty and I noticed it was about 3 people commenting, instead of the usual droves. Anyway, this episode is not perfect. Varys teleported around to fast, the R+L=J reveal was a little underwhelming and Arya I cannot stand on the TV show (Story, actress, everything). I suppose if you want to nitpick, you could say Maderly was disappointing in comparison to his character in the novel, but this isn’t the novel, and they probably don’t have time to do that entire story (Which began its set up in the first book) justice, so why bother? Don’t get me wrong, I really began to dislike the show (Around season 4 and especially season 5) and I still don’t think that it is as good as season 1, but I do feel this episode was phenomenal. As I have said, its finally allowed me to separate the show and the books in my head, and its ended me seeking out the petty nit picking things that are ‘wrong’ with it. It feel liberating to be able to separate the 2 mediums if I am totally honest.
  2. Lol I love both episodes. BW has the dialogue, TWOTW has giants riding mammoths. Sal good man.
  3. I disagree. He clearly demonstrated his leadership skills by commanding the wall and leading men into battle at castle black. He's then the only man with a plan to end this.
  4. Lack of Stannis was fine because he doesn't show up until later anyway. All the fights were good. Sam was awesome. All deaths I felt were really sad. Episode captured the hopeless bravery of the men of the nights watch. Grenn was awesome.
  5. The biggest problem I am reading people having is this: Stannis didn't get his moment and now unsullied won't like him. Which is wierd because Stannis doesn't arrive during the battle of castle black in the book either. He arrives days later. People are saying "but Tyrion will take away from Stannis" etc which to me just stinks of a lack of faith in Stannis himself. Surely a real Stanstan would be thinking "Stannis is gonna detract from Tyrions big moment" Tbh, who cares what unsullied think of stannis? Apart fom everyone here, who seem to really care what they think.
  6. I wish Stannis had arrived this episode but next week is good enough. Christ the whinging in here is pathetic.
  7. The burping was stupid and I actually felt bad for everyone involved in the writing, filming and even watching of that scene. It as stupid. What? She's a whore and these are commoners, so burping is amusing? Really? Fuck off.
  8. I didn't really enjoy this episode overall as much as others this season. I am not feeling the Wildlings at all and I must admit the Wall is boring this season considering it's going to be all episode 9 contains. Missendei and Grey Worm... Erm... I'm not sure about that. I'm not bothered so much as I don't really care about either character overly much. Good be entertaining in the future I guess. The time could have spent better else where. Moat Calin was good. Roose was also good as always. I look forward to Rooses bigger part next season onwards. I thought they were gonna say don't make me rue the day... When Ramsey was all "I won't let you down dad" lol. Beetles was... Wierd. I didn't really like it. Not because it wasn't in the books, it was just boring. "What does it all mean?" The duel was awesome I thought. Great fight. Jorah get permanently FriendZoned was good. Although I thought it was a poor change to make him beg for forgiveness when erm... I thought the whole point of that scene was that he didn't repent? I can't remember any other scenes.
  9. I know. To each their own. I just though it was stupid and not particularly witty. I love Roose as well. I think a better example of his coldness is just the way he treats Theon. There is no compassion at all.
  10. I think that line is shit and is GRRM trying way to hard. I don't understand the fandom. It's not funny or witty.
  11. Yeah it's a brilliant scene in the book. I love it. I also loved it in the show. And if you go ok YouTube, there's a dub with only cat.
  12. I love all the changes they make the more I read people go mental about it. Changed two words. People cry. Hilarious. So entitled. Some people even think D and D are actively trying to piss them off and that is frankly hilarious. I actually wish they were.
  13. You really think the writers of the most watched HBO show of all time deliberately changed a line to give the middle finger to a bunch of obsessed nerds online? It's because no one in show refers to her as Cat.
  14. Haha in from South Shields mate but no one would know where that is lol
  15. Great episode. Theon/Ramsey bath scene was utterly horrific. Great acting by both, especially Alfie Allen. The sexual undertones were really uncomfortable... Especially the way Ramsey smiles at Theons ken doll patch. I never picked up on a sexual interest Ramsey had in Theon in the books but others did and it seems like D and D did as well. Tyrion was amazing. The whole trial was brilliant. Oberyn owns every scene he is in. I'm not so sure about Mace Tyrels portrayal. He seems extremely incompetent and I never got that impression from the books. He's an oaf. A bit of a buffoon. But he's not any bodies lap dog. I'm not bothered so much though. Different canon. I cannot wait to see The Mountain.
  16. I never realised that who killed was a mystery until this thread. In the books, LF tells Sansa he plotted with Olenna. Anyway. Great episode. I laughed at te guy in this thread saying that because Joffrey didn't claw his own throat, that HBO are lazy and didn't bother much with the episode. The same episode where Joffrey cut open a pie and doves came flying out. But they skimped on the details cos they're lazy lololol
  17. Davos plays the bad guy in Dog Soldiers. He's awesome. Jaimie is in Oblivion I think. Just a small roll though. Cersei is the queen in 300 and the main bad guy in Dredd. Jorah is the bad guy in one of the Resi Evil films. Sean Beans been in a few things. King Robert was a stripper in some 90's film that may or may not hae also starred Ned. Marg is also Ann Boleyn. Melisandre plays a witch in a Sean bean medieval film... Forgot it's name. Bean gets pulled in half by 2 horses lol. Spoiler! Erm... I can't think of too many more.
  18. Cheers... Aye mate. Well, from near by anyway I don't live in city centre.
