  1. we're 4 episodes in and really digging this... it's done really well... a couple of random observations:

--There are no big name actors, and a few mid-level names ... Ben Barnes, Zoe Wannamaker, Tom Weston-Jones...  and yet the performances down cast are all solid... I wish more shows would do this...

--The actor who plays young  Alina totally looks like she could be the younger version of Jessie Mei Li... fantastic casting....

I think whoever you cast, the movies need a clean break from the previous generation, so no cross casting.. no Judi Dench in Bond scenarios. Start again from scratch.

Agreed.... and I'm sure that besides Ryan Reynolds, we'll see an entirely new MCU cast... which is going to be a fun watch...
That said, almost every time I disagree with casting (especially in the MCU), I wind up being wrong.... however the thought of Charlie Hunnam as Wolverine is cringe inducing...

  3. This president we have in America has given racist and homophobes --small minded bigots of any kind-- the confidence to come out on force, and be open about their hate... even in Blue New Jersey....

I look ethnic (Italian)... It's pretty obvious that I have a vowel at the end of my name.... and I never fail to be surprised at how racist gay-hating shitbags just assume that because I look like a sopranos extra, that I must be one of them.... they say the most fucked up things to me, and then act defensive when i cut them off... every friggin' time. ... it used to happen occasionally, since Trump, it happens all the damn time.

  4. Hi.... I can't post anything from my laptop (which is where I normally post from) .... the box is gray and it doesn't let me type anything.... is there anything I can do other than yell at my screen?

  5. You do realize there are 2 more seasons that have already been renewed right? You also realize that chronology of the season doesn't completely sit within the framework of the books right? If she's in the show, she'll show up. She didn't need to be introduced in this season to have any impact on the story at all.

    Exactly ...

...and as an aside, I can't help but notice that most of the haters in these thread have a minimal amount of posts.... not that the amount of posts someone has is germane to how much someone does, or does not enjoy an episode, but it looks like some minor league trolling to me...

  6. I was going to give it an 8.... but changed it to a 10 because of people's whose "opinions" incite them to vote 1...

I get that this is an opinion thread.... but some people's "opinions" are that ra government conspiracy brought down the world trade center....

"Stannis ring on his left index finger was supposed to be a silver with gold trim, and it was gold with silver trim!!!!!... I hated this episode!!!!!!!!!"

  7. I gave it a 7. I originally would have rated it a 5, but I've done two rewatches since Sunday night and I have to say the episode was better the second and third time around than I thought it was in my original estimation. However, I'm still baffled by their choice to have Jon voluntarily go out beyond the Wall to try and assassinate Mance Rayder. In a sane world, Jon should know that the wildlings would kill him before he got within 100 yards of Mance. At least in the books it made sense...he was being forced out beyond the Wall and given that he was going out to parley with the wildlings...at least they might want to hear what he had to say. But with this there isn't even that much.

And I'm going to jump on the bandwagon of those wondering why the episodes are so short.

I think --and I could be wrong-- that they added the "Jon ranges to Craster's scene" to cover the Slynt/Thorne trying to get Jon killed thing.... If I recall, in the books Slynt & Thorne were at Eastwatch bts for the battle.... The change might be to help sell Jon's viability to be voted LC to a TV audience, who don't get all of the nuance we all got from the books,,,,

and I agree.... episodes are too short.... my wife yells at the TV every week at 9:52 :)

  8. I don't expect everyone to give this a "10" ... I didn't ... but this was the most expensive episode they've ever done... my expectations aren't low... yours are unrealistic....

... "ooooh, I'm a purist, Jon was suppossed to kill that wildling with his left hand, they've ruined everything!!!!.... waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa"

Messageboard haters hate just so they can hate.... if you want to give the ep a 4, then OK... if you want to give it a zeo, then stop watching, because it ain't gonna get better.

  9. People who hated this episode should just stop watching.... The show is different from the books.... get over it.

I love the books as much as anyone, but Stannis wasn't supposed to show up yet anyway....

The production was incredible... Jon's coming out party.... great episode for anyone who doesn't have sex with their Stannis doll
