  1. It's not just that Democrats are being held up to impossible standards in regards to breaking norms, it's not a possible goal to stop norms from being broken. In the Garland case it's not just that the norm was broken, but that it's forever broken. There's no chance a political party will again hold back Senate rules for maximum political benefit in regards to the SC ever again. Yes, leading to polarization. And it's all McConnell's fault. I think what some people want to see is Democrats only break norms after the Republicans have already done so and taken the political benefits. Also, packing the Supreme Court is not violating a norm. It's been done multiple times. Unlike say, the storming of Congress. I believe that is a genuine first.
  2. I think that's deliberate. It's a "privilege" to be chosen for this labor, so only humans.
  3. I upgraded specifically to play Starfield. Then they went and delayed it. However, I was surprised at how fast I can load up and get into the Store or a game. It's actually been a big benefit as I have limited time to play on work nights. Been playing Stellaris a ton.
  4. Trump to hold rally in Florida with Rubio — but not DeSantis The apparent snub angered some people within DeSantis’ orbit, who complained that the Florida governor’s team was not informed of the rally prior. https://www.politico.com/news/2022/10/26/trump-rally-florida-rubio-desantis-00063698

  8. I think the point of Syril is to comment on housing inequality in the West and the plight of millennials. Forced to return home and not only be berated by the Baby Boomer parent, but then having to rely on help to find new work. I don't see spoilers in the title, so I'll tag the rest of this.
  9. Well to quote Bill Cutting, "Thank God. I die a true American."

  13. Didn't like the big twist, but there were things in the finale I liked such as Daredevil with Jen's family. Definitely a lot to like about the overall season though and I'd watch if there was another. Jen's awful dating luck, Jen's chemistry with multiple characters such as Daredevil and Bruce. The skillful skewering of toxic men. There was a lot to like. Really glad to have DD in the MCU.
  14. It was obviously not a shining moment for law enforcement, so yes. I'm skeptical of more law enforcement as a solution to a rise from record lows in crime. It seems more of a political strategy than something that will make lives better. I'll add that it depends on where the money goes, too. Something like mental health outreach might be a good thing. So, around 2014 I was renting a room in a trailer park here in the suburbs of Seattle. I'm out walking one day, I forget why as I didn't do that very often. But suddenly there are these guys in full fucking body armor going by. It was frankly terrifying. Have not had an experience like that before or since. (I'll add, this happened in full daylight) Like 95% plus of the population of the trailer park was non-white. I have no idea why the raid happened. I certainly did not feel protected. It was bullshit tough on crime politics that led to people dressed up as soldiers in my neighborhood. It was racist bullshit. And like a lot of racist policies they often boomerang and cause harm to some whites, too.
  15. I would submit Uvalde. You shove as many mens as possible into uniforms, point them at a problem, and crime magically goes away in record time.
