  1. Carvajal is Spain's best RB. Lucas Vazquez converted to RB a couple of seasons ago and he makes a better fullback than he did a winger – I'd put him down as Spain's second best RB. Then there's Sergi Roberto and Odriozola too. None of them have been selected in tonight's squad though.
  2. RB Salzburg confirm that Christoph Freund will not be joining Chelsea. https://www.redbullsalzburg.at/de/aktuelles/news/christoph-freund-bleibt-sportdirektor-in-salzburg
  3. It's only Dortmund and Leipzig that realistically have the squads to mount any challenge over the course of a season. Dortmund aren't exactly flying. They're struggling in front of goal a lot more than Bayern and are only 3 points ahead of Bayern. Leipzig have been rubbish and Union Berlin doesn't have the depth to go the distance and will most likely start to fall away soon enough. I expect Bayern will be top by the time the leagues break for the WC. Also expect that Serie A and La Liga are going to provide the best title races in the top 5 leagues this season. The rest of the top 5 leagues are just going to be Bayern, Man City and PSG processions to the title.
  4. I'm actually surprised that the show has writers from The Sopranos, Mad Men and Breaking Bad. The dialogue and plotting is quite poor. I'd have expected a lot better from writers with those backgrounds.
  5. Ligue 1 has been more competitive than the Bundesliga over these past 10 years.
  6. Juve have been so shit this season. Just meekly lost to Monza – one of the worst promoted sides in recent years. Allegri's turgid brand of football has been unwatchable since last season but Juve at least had started to grind out results eventually. Without the results, Allegri will very quickly lose support.
  7. Sebastian Kehl confirms that Reus has not suffered a fracture. Scans have shown that it's a lateral ligament injury in his ankle and he's expected to be out for around 3 weeks.
  8. Rodgers has to go. Things have fallen apart at Leicester. With the international break coming up, now would be a good time to part ways and it gives the club a bit of time to get the next manager and his coaching staff in.
  9. I've found the show to be watchable so far. No more than a 5/10 though. Amazon should've spent less on CGI and more on putting together a good writers room and on showrunners who aren't noobs.
  10. Leicester are the worst side in the league at defending set-pieces and have been since last season.
  11. The Juve job might become available first. Allegri-ball makes me want to watch Aston Villa.
  12. Nagelsmann's tenure thus far has been no better than Kovac's tenure so I don't think he's all that safe.
  13. Forest have fallen apart in the 2nd half. Fulham have easily been the best of the newly promoted sides. eta. Forest's defending has been nowhere near good enough this season. They've got absolutely no chance unless there's a significant improvement in that area.
  14. Eligible U21 players are automatically registered on the B list. This means nothing. Greenwood will never play for United again.
  15. Postponed fixtures: Brighton v Crystal Palace Chelsea v Liverpool Man Utd v Leeds
  16. Arsenal vs PSV postponed due to lack of available police personnel in London.
  17. And it's only the PL and EFL. Rugby and cricket matches are set to go ahead over the weekend.
  18. That was crap. This game highlighted our biggest problem i.e. more often than not we are toothless when the onus is on us to play on the front foot and control possession. We're only consistently effective going forward when we can play on the counter and this has been true for a number of years. Still early in Ten Hag's tenure but that aspect of our game has not improved at all. He's still got a massive job on his hands.
  19. Don't think we can read too much into that. Chelsea's managers have been designated the title of head coach rather than manager for some time now – it was the same with Tuchel, Lampard, Sarri and Conte.
