  1. Life is meaningless and full of pain.
  2. https://x.com/DMRussini/status/1767257681956393128?s=20 Don’t worry Ty… you’ve got a Ginger Hammer as your savior.
  3. Prince of Thorns can make some people uncomfortable in its depictions of the villains as your protagonists. (But if you like Bakker... I'm guessing thats not a problem for you! ) It is definitely the weakest of his books I think. Lawrence is one of my most consistently enjoyed authors. He consistently produces great books.
  4. Yeah, I wouldn't call it YA at all. Unless your book needs to have graphic on page sex; then its still very much Abercrombie. Still violent. Still a wry sense of humor. Still well paced and written. I really enjoyed it. There were some similarities with the Broken Empire series from Mark Lawrence in that they are both post-apocalyptic Europe. If you like Joe, its definitely worth a read.
  5. Mac Jones for a sixth round pick to the Jags... well, okay. That's certainly a choice. I know its a false equivalency and different coaches/situations blah, blah, blah... but Jones was in contention for Rookie of the Year and was a Pro Bowl Alternate. And yet, we expect Justin Fields to fetch a second rounder or some such?
  6. The end of the movie quite obviously appears as if Chani is set to be an antagonist to Paul in whatever sequel might come about. But Paul also tells Jessica that Chani will come around “I have seen it.” So what shape do we really think that will take?
  7. C-A-T-S! Cats! Cats!! CATS!!!!
  8. I can't agree with you here. They are different sports. Sanderson and GRRM play the same "sport." Maybe you could say; LeBron plays 82 games a year, but this other guy plays the 82 plus he plays in some summer pick up games and leagues. Edit: And lets be honest... to stick to the NBA example, GRRM hasn't retired been taking an awful lot of load management. Like Pop used to say about Tim Duncan "DNP-Old"
  9. It’s March… my attention is elsewhere. (And I haven’t visited an NFL site since… you know… )
  10. Reports are that Wilson will meet with the Steelers. I don’t know why that didn’t occur to me earlier in the week when I posted. But I have to admit, that makes a lot of sense for both parties there.
  11. Will he though? Who is going to go after him? Rumors are saying that if Cousins doesn't sign with the VIkes, then Atlanta will jump at him. Bears may be going QB and if so, someone will go for young Justin Fields. Commanders are likely to take a QB in the draft, but maybe they think they could use him to mentor a younger guy? Giants maybe?
  12. Ah. You meant internationally. Everything I was seeing was $80m; but that was domestic I see now. That is good.
  13. I bought it a few weeks back and couldn't even really play more than the first couple of levels of the campaign because I couldn't zoom out much more than what felt like a view of the command center and a couple of habs around it. I understand the need to have a dedicated zoom focus in competitive matches for fairness, but I like to be able to see what's going on when I'm just casually playing the campaign. Edit: And to be fair... its been over 20 years since I last played. Maybe it was always that close cropped.
  14. Saw a Reddit post that showed a preorder date of this September. Dunno how reliable that would be.
  15. They have now renamed Superman: Legacy to just SUPERMAN. Makes sense. I never understood why an origin story about a young Superman would have a “Legacy.” There’s nothing there to live up to.
  16. My special edition of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth arrived at my office today. Got out my Sephiroth statute... that glorious Son of a Bitch is too tall to stand on the bookshelves in my office. So I cleared off the shelf under my TV and moved my Cloud figure (from the Remake special edition) off the shelf to sit across from him. He's very much "Fallen Angel" looking, so I have it sort of hidden by the bookshelf as you come in, but he's easily visible from my desk.
  17. Yeah... for all his heroics, Reed threw the ball away leading to a three on the other end. Then Kentucky went up three with 16 seconds left; queue the great debate on if you just play it out on defense or foul... Miss State hits a terribly off balance three to tie it with 8 seconds. Setting the stage for Reed's epic finish. Should have been well in the bag, but Miss St just wouldn't go away.
  18. Got my ticket for Saturday evening.

  20. Yeah, there were a handful of guys in our guild that were from the Columbus area. One weekend, we were meeting a friend of mine from Youngstown and the night before he got in town we met up with the Night Elf warrior twins and a gnome rogue. Also met up with another group in Nashville a couple months later. There are several old guildmates that I still have on Facebook that I keep at least casually in touch with.
  21. Oh he was their main paladin. Did a lot of PvP. He charged in for the video... it was totally a set up. Now whether everyone in the group that night was in on it or not, I don't know. He wound up having to play on an alt for a long time though because he would get bombarded with messages from people creating characters on the server just to see if he was on.
  22. I played on Laughing Skull. We had a good raiding guild, but not on the level of Deus Vox or Pals 4 Life. Our hunter group leader took an invite to P4L and I used to tag along sometimes on the PvP groups with Leeroy and the others. But yes... the biggest high I ever had in gaming was the night we took down Nefarion for the first time. I was the back up tank. The main tank died and I picked up the aggro. We had a dwarf priest giving me fear ward for most of the fight (the dragon would stomp, the screen would shake, and everyone would get feared. If the main tank got feared, the dragon turned and breathed firey death on all the squishy cloth wearers off to the side.) Our priest died somehow with about 12% to go and I had to stance dance (switch stances to berserker where you take more damage, pop an ability that breaks fear, and then switch back to defensive stance before you get whacked) that entire ending sequence. Knowing that if I messed up once, all 40 of us were going to die... It was intense. Count me in as someone who absolutely sacrificed a marriage on the altar of WoW. (Ironically... she played and raided too!) There's something about not letting down 39 other people knowing that if you don't log in, the raid might not go.
