He's washed. Having those back to back injuries for sure cut down his longevity. Still a first ballot HoFer though.

I think we saw a dynasty die tonight. Green is pretty cooked as well and Steph can't carry the team anymore. He can for a night, but he needs a lot more help to make one more push and I'm not sure who they can add.

Boy, and a few years ago they had the number one overall pick and you just sort of thought "Here they go, gonna be good for another 5-10 years."  And then James Wiseman happens...

Cap space might be tricky, but I think if he asked for a trade GS would take pennies on the dollar to help him get to a contender. A couple of picks and swaps, a young player with upside and some bad contracts might do it. I just don't know which team can make that deal.

I still think he might just want to be a Warrior for life, but getting one more ring cements him as a top 10 all-time player (I think he already is) and that may tempt him to leave.

I don't know about rankings.  Top 10, Top 15, a lot of that is splitting hairs.  But I know one thing, you can't tell the story of the NBA without Steph Curry.  He changed the game and the way it is played at every level.

Could Fallout 1/2 be played on the Steamdeck? (I have no idea, don't own one my self, but this sub-discussion is interesting, and gives me ideas for friends who own Steamdecks.)

The original FallOut is listed as Playable on Deck.

The caution notes just mention that there are times that require utilizing the onscreen touch keyboard and some features do not work with the built in controller function and will require the use of the onscreen keyboard.  The positives say that it does utilize Steam Deck controller icons and the default graphics settings work well.

To answer your broader question about whether a game is playable on the Steam Deck, that answer is broadly "Yes."  Its a PC.  Now, it is Linux based PC (that you can dual load Windows onto).  So there is hardly anything that you can't play in one shape or another.

Watching Fallout has made me want to play fallout. I guess without a computer unless I want to try an older one on my steam deck or break out an older console my choice has to be fallout four. Iirc I didn’t get that far into it as compared to 1, 2 and Vegas. Is it worth it to play it or should I bust my ps3 out to play 3 or Vegas?

I just checked Steam… you can have 3 and NV for a combined total of less than $7.50.

  4. Now that the theatrical run is winding down and the home streaming release is two days away, I was checking box office on Dune today and went back to our debate about delaying the release last summer and predictions for the gross.

Pretty obvious at this point that delaying it was absolutely the right move. The promotional tour and the positive press it built clearly made a difference in getting the excitement rolling for the movie.

My prediction at the time was a bit off:

    Quote

I sincerely hope that Dune 2 does better than the original.  And I believe that there is a very good chance that it will now that theaters are more open.  By comparison, Dune's $102 domestic box office would put it in 20th place for 2023 so far this year.  (Right between The Flash and M3GAN.)  I think a good performance for it would be a top ten film for the year, which this year would mean $175m ish.  (Right between Sound of Freedom and Indiana Jones and the Slipped Disc.)  That feels about right to me.  $175 to $200m domestic.

Box office mojo says that the movie has don’t $272m domestic.  So I wasn’t far off, but the positive press definitely pushed it above where I thought it would be.

At $683m worldwide, it did fall short of the “Billion Monies” that @Deadlines? What Deadlines? and @Calibandar were predicting however.

Glad to see we will get a concluding chapter.

  5. They held a press conference at Rupp Arena for Mark Pope’s introduction and had to turn away 5000 fans. :stunned:

    We truly are insane.

Not bad for a hire everyone was disappointed in 3 days ago.

What are the specs of your PC?

I’ll post them when I’m back at the office tomorrow.  It’s well past the requirements.

I did start it up on my Steam Deck without trouble last night. :dunno:

  7. I've had CyberPunk in my Steam library ever since I bought my Steam Deck, but have never actually played it.  All this talk made me decide to install it on my new PC here at the office and give it a go.

Installed and the Steam Launcher opened a CDP launcher (I hate launchers that launch other launchers btw).  As soon as the game tries to start... it crashes.

This is why I've always been a console gamer... they. just. work.  :tantrum:

So anyways, to the Google machine... I don't have anything running that I feel like should be a problem.  I don't have a jsun file.  There does not seem to be any Nehemic files running in the task manager (whatever those are).  I went searching through my files and found the actual app and tried launching directly.

Any suggestions from the group I trust the most for gaming advice on the net?  I haven't tried it on the Deck yet.  I may do that when I get home.

ETA:  it has a pop up screen when it crashes that says it has Flatlined and asks permission to send a crash report.  But I don't get any error messages.

Pope was the most likely candidate from that list imo, but yeah, the zero NCAA tourney wins is very worrisome.  Getting kids to stick around is extremely important in college ball right now, so I don't think it's a bad thing if he can.  I think he'll do well, as long as the fanbase gives him a little bit of time to grow into his new shoes, but being a former player will help him have a jump start on the culture.  Shocking that he's the oldest hire for UK ever, at least it wasn't Pitino again at 71

I agree with all of that.

And I guess it’s just the fact that I’m older now, but I thought all those guys were old back then!  Cal had done a ton of stuff to only be 50.  And yeah… I was 19… but I just sort assumed Tubby was in his mid 50s!!!  The fact that he was younger than I am now really hurts!

I hope Kentucky pours all their NIL money into men's basketball and leaves nothing for the women's team.

Brooks has been killing it here.

He had a great Tweet today where he said “As the longest tenured coach in the department, I feel it’s on me to show you around…”

  10. Naturally I've now moved into the "Talk myself into it" mode.

AD Barnhart was just on Kentucky Sports Radio.  He said all the right things.  There will be $4m in NIL money available to build the team this year.  Pope has had two players that he recruited at BYU that wouldn't come to BYU that already called him and said they'd come to Kentucky.  (Ya think?)

He does play an exciting style of ball and Kelvin Sampson had a quote that BYU was one of the toughest teams to prepare for this year because of the things they run.

So in the end, he obviously wants to be here.  Big plus.
Plays a modern basketball.  Big plus.

Has no wins in the NCAA tournament.  Biggest minus imaginable.
Questions on ability to recruit at the highest level.  Big minus.

Turned down by Scott Drew, Rhom??  Ouch.  The list of candidates in an ESPN+ article isn't that exciting...  I'm glad it's your team and not mine :leaving:

When Drew was gonna be your splashy hire, you know you’ve screwed up.
