  1. Mark Pope. I laughed at IU, Duke, UNC, and UofL for hiring unproven alumni. Guess this is my penance. 2-2 of those four. Guess we will be the tipping point on if that’s a successful strategy Some people are going to get their wish though… buncha white kids who stay multiple years.
  2. That leads into the question of "What is a roleplaying game?" You don't think you're "roleplaying" as V? Do you need swords and elves to roleplay? Is it just stat management and choosing skills? Is it a story that responds to choices?
  3. If I could insert a meme here it would be the squinty eye “ Not sure if serious…”
  4. Okay... this is getting ABSURD now. This comes from an account I think I've referenced before called Trilly Donovan that has always had really good inside info. (Like really good... but no one seems to know who it is.) Man, that is WILD. And Peevy was always well thought of in UK circles, that will definitely cost him a shot at the AD job in a couple years. And talk about not being able to read a room! Jeezus f'ing Pete Cal. How did you miss what the fans thought this badly?!!?
  5. What a shit show... Dick Gabriel is reporting that Cal went to UK admins and asked them to counter Arkansas' offer... they declined. Talk about not being able to read a room! The parties on State Street when news hit that you were leaving was not the first clue??? John Calipari asked Kentucky to counter Arkansas offer and Kentucky said no, per Dick Gabriel (on3.com)
  6. The Trilly Donovan account on X (formerly known as Twitter) has been really good about having information over the last couple of years. He said earlier today that Oates is not in play. That surprises me just a little bit, but knowing AD Mitch Barnhart it’s not entirely surprising.
  7. And it’s the definition of a football school. These top tier coaches don’t like to be second fiddle at their own school.
  8. Pope would be waaaaayyyyyy down the list, but he is likely on it. News today is that Oates' buyout is actually only $10m, not the $18m that was floated last night. And Arkansas just saved UK $33m. Paying for a buyout won't be a barrier. And don't kid yourself, if Oates stays at Bama... it'll be because UK let him stay. Guy was a high school coach 11 years ago. He is a high energy fast riser. The head chairs at one of the five blue bloods don't open up all that often. There is word out there that Billy D is interested, but there's a big timing issue with the NBA season. Kentucky will need a coach in place within the week to build a team. Which is another major issue with hiring from the NBA today. In the modern college game, as soon as a coach leaves the entire team is in the portal. Hire a college guy and he will bring a handful of his players and recruits with him. Coming from the pros (or out of coaching like Jay Wright) you don't have that built in automatic base to build with.
  9. Alabama fans online sound like Dolly Parton singing Jolene… Kentucky… Kentucky… KEN-TUCK-EEEEEE
  10. Man… way to ruin Wrestlemania Cal!!! Saw this Tweet but can’t embed it Personally, I think this is how it had to go down. Firing him was obviously untenable to the AD. And it would have split the fanbase badly. This allows the university to move forward. Saves $33m in buyout (Cal has not buyout to leave.). Keeps fans relatively united. And honestly is a good hire for Arkansas as well. Where does UK go? Sorry @Ramsay B. I think we have to make Hurley say no. Which I expect him to. Then I think the most logical spot is Nate Oats. I’m not sold on him completely and I still think her covered for a murderer last year; but it seems pretty clear he’d be a good fit. Strap in. It’s gonna be a ride.
  11. Wow… even I didn’t realize it was THAT bad.
  12. My son was about three or four. We watched in Episode order… I had seen my son cry because he was hungry or hurt or sleepy… but when Anakin killed those younglings, I saw him cry emotional tears of angst for the first time and he said with real pain in his voice “Daddy, Anakin can’t be bad!!!” It broke my heart and I will never forget that.
  13. The two movies that were the most multiverse centric were SpiderMan and Dr Strange… and they were the two best movies of the “phase.” The worst movies were… well, crap… I was going to say Thor and Eternals… but then I remembered that Antman and Marvels are things… and then you just have Shang Chi and Wakanda just sort of there. My point though is this: The problem ain’t the multiverse. People loved seeing Patrick Stewart and Jim from the Office Richards get slaughtered. The fact people now sorta want Amazing Spider-Man 3 speaks for itself. The problem is bad movies.
  14. I watched Indiana State and Seton Hall last night for the NIT title. It was a helluva game.
  15. Like the Not Another Teen Movie of the Superhero world!
  16. NCState has both men and women in. UConn is one half of basketball away from doing the same. I wonder if there’s ever been a year with more than two schools with that double?
  17. It is pretty amazing though that UConn is shooting just 28% from three for the tourney in a world where all the talking heads insist that you have to be shooting a high volume/high percent from deep.
  18. Chasing trends has always been a risky proposition in gaming. How many companies went under trying to make the next "WoW Killer?" Meanwhile... 20 years later, WoW is still over here killing it with subscriptions and has somehow added microtransactions. Destiny had a rocky launch but managed to find its way and its sequel is going strong years later. But then you tried to bring in Anthem and a couple other live service games and they flopped. Fortnite launched as a zombie survival game with a bit of a niche battle royale mode... and look at it now. Kal mentions selling a game for $60 and then counting on $30-50 more in DLC/microtransactions. I do wonder if games could survive on just bringing their base price up to closer to $100 but with a full product? My instinct says no based on the number of people I see wait for sales to hit. Its just a brutal space right now.
  19. That’s what I expect…. But NCState is on one of those inexplicable magic runs, so I would not be shocked to see them get past Purdue
  20. I dunno man... I watched UK throttle Alabama by almost 40 and it wasn't even that close not all that long ago. And I just watched UConn run off 30 straight on a really good Illinois team. Bama was better last year than they were this year and they got run by a so so San Diego State team that had rim protection and decent perimeter play. I've always been skeptical of the "modern" basketball in the college game and Bama is at the heart of that skepticism. Every shot from the perimeter or in the lane looks great as long as you're hitting... and in the NBA, the odds of being cold from outside 4 games out of 7 may be slim for the best teams; but in a one game tourney situation, it makes you very susceptible to a cold night. Stick that game being played in a cavernous football arena with weird sight lines and it just makes me think UConn wins this game going away.
