  1. Also noteworthy: Number of viewers doesn't equal good ratings. And if one TV is on and 100 people view it, do they count that? Or do they count in the illegal streamers? I think s1 and s2 might have had the same numbers as now, but lot of people didn't have HBO subscriptions then. And then ratings. Thousands of people go into cinema and are then reviewing the film badly. So there is that. And, if only the last episode had a large number of viewers, well that isn't too rosy either. It means the season was bland and skippable and they only wanted to see the finale. Everything is relative and should be looked at thoroughly before reading something into it that isn't.
  2. Bring in Euron, some more Reach factions, Mountain clans, cut Bran, leave Rickon as possible player, make Dany less deus ex machina with her dragons, focus on KL and the Iron throne, who wins, who looses. Change every outcome from the book, leave the White Walkers completely in the dark for the next season and only be seen as an imagined threat to the world. Leave it possible for them to kill all (unseen) in the very last episode, by showing snow falling in KL and the Blackwater freezing. That I might watch. The idea of prophecies and Songs of Ice and Fire gone and replaced by a game of thrones without heroes, but schemers.
  3. The book story is better. The show writers can write. This season they couldn't. I don't know what it is that drove them, since they were extremely well at adapting the story in earlier seasons, and at least were able to adapt certain scenes very well in season 4, but this season was a wreck. Let's see where they go when they truly offed Jon and the North plot and focus on a magicless intrigue chamber play. Perhaps that is what will save the show as such. But like this it is doomed to fail. Stop casting book characters or try to squeeze in book moments. Go your own way now. It will be clumsy to still have certain book moments without the construct that led to them. Either go completely different, or go back to an adaptation starting after Joffrey's death.
  4. "AVATAR STATE -YIPYIP" Yeah, you are right. They mixed up some stuff, but were consistent. I shall go now, because my heart is so full of sadness, it is making me tearbend :crying:
  5. The show felt this season like the Ember Island Players' performance of the "Boy in the Iceberg". Same plot, but ridiculous and parody like, with a view into the future that would be completely different.
  6. HBO made good damage control by creating 200 new users in the last few weeks and another 100 just 5 minutes ago, so they can vote.
  7. And just when I got over my hatred for Stannis and start to appreciate him, the show does that. I felt sorry for that guy. My condolences to the actors. They deserve better producers and writers. -1 for no broken internet.
  8. With this I agree. Drawn into the ridiculous. Shame! Shame! Shame! "ring" Absolute disgrace to writing.
  9. A ton of people from last year who were very invested in this forum are no longer here. Or at least no longer in the show threads. So the point is absolutely invalid.
  10. That is exactly the reason people give bad reviews. Because they didn't like it. What else would justify it? If you dislike the food in the restaurant and the service is bad, you don't give them a good review because they had chairs and tables.
  11. But really. That episode was shit. I have to upvote Unbowed and the other episodes I gave low ratings so that this one is in relation to them. All to scale. The cgi was really good. There is no opinion or disagreement/agreement on that. It simply was well done for a tv production. And the dragon finally looked like a dragon, not some childish lizard. He wasn't funny, he was serious business. But the story was horrible. Some scenes start well directed, but as soon as dialogue comes or actions, it is unbearable. Melisandre didn't see the danger coming? Stannis doesn't know about the Dance? Selyse protects Shireen instead of Stannis shoving her and saving his ONLY HEIR!? Ser Pedobear in Braavos was too long and boring. And again, men=absolute evil. Can't there be some men that aren't evil? Sure Trant was one of the worst, but still, all of the men in their adaptation that aren't major characters are evil. The inside the episode infuriates more though. Pure lies. Be ashamed HBO. Be very ashamed of yourselves.
  12. 10/10 !!!!111!!1!1 Oh my god! Now that is what I want to see! Good thinking that they changed the Stannis arc. It was atrocious in the books, him always being the righteous man and saying he fights for the kingdoms and does what needs to be done, but then doesn't. So good they changed him to the character he was always intended to be. Do you guys think this Olly kid still likes Jon? I am not sure. And that ending! Did you see the rain of halos? St. Tyrion of Casterly Rock defended poor Miss Sandy. And Jorah saved Dany just in the right moment, because the sun blinded the Unsullied guards from seeing a fucking masked man with a knife entering her box. And then that poor Hizdahr died. Shit. Who will save them now? WHO!!! But that was really foookin' legendary.
  13. Total meh. Others do look better, but the wights are comical. Absolute mood killer. They are not scary, they are funny. Cersei was alright, so was the Tyrion fanfic. Thenns being the ones against an alliance with lords? Please. They would be the most likely. Should have kept the Lord of Bones for an epic fight. Where is Sixskins? I thought he was cast/would appear? Fails for me in terms of adaptation, which is what I want, and as fanfic/ Alternate Universe / different choice thing it is not really impressing me. + for Arya. Although I never had any interest in her character, I liked her story, how it was done. Reminded me instantly of Assassin's Creed gameplay, but really liked how it was done. But they kinda wanted that scene in "The Gift", didn't they? Same with the Hardhome scene of the dragonglass gift.
  14. crappy phone - 200$ glasses - 600$ socializing and getting laid - priceless I want to have your bank account, please and thank you.
  15. All the actors though, all of them, the reason I continue to watch, bland and bored. No more soul in their acting. Sansa is far too changed for my taste. Melisandre should wear her fucking scarlet. There is a reason she is the red woman and not the violet bitch. points for actually using "Egg". As a poster before me said, Olenna lost her IQ. As did the others. Tommen's actor is a joke. Really. Acted like in a Schiller or Lessing play. Absolute joke. Was waiting for a drum and trumpets before the curtain fell. Really, the Lannister recasts are just bad. The actors they had before were a one in a million. They looked and acted exactly like in the source material. Now they changed it for that.
  16. Feast and Dance are the best books. The plots are from new angles, new povs bringing new backstories, new locations, new threats. Slower but sometimes more interesting and complex plots, like the North and Meereen, or King's Landing. Tyrion was as pov very weak. Unbearable to read. But the people he encountered and the stories are great. In those two books the characters and the world is finally set up, everything is now in motion and the story is really much better. Now fires are burning in every corner of Westeros and Essos. The plot thickens and grows. Cersei's pov is grrms very best.

  18. But I am willing to admit that I never before noticed that White Harbor even existed in the DD universe. Just some weeks ago when I rewatched the previous seasons. They still could have made more of a suspense plot of intrigue and action waiting to happen inside Winterfell. Murder some Bolton men and let the viewers guess which party did it. Brienne, LF henchmen, Stark loyalists, Mance ( :( ). Whatever. Their overall plot is just uninspired and boring. I thought Feast and Dance had too few action and stuff happening so they change it. But now they have literally no plot at all.
  19. White Harbour actually was mentioned once or twice by Catelyn in s1 or s2.
  20. It's shallow to assume people give 1 out of 10 because of Sansa's rape scene. Sure it added to it, but it was basically part of the books in a way. (Only it wasn't Sansa). It is just the overall execution of the scenes and characters (pun intended) It felt overall short. Short and uneventful. Dragged some few scenes to add up to 50 minutes. Nothing really happened. Sons of the Harpy was pretty good. Or Oathkeeper last season. So much happened there, but here - nothing. When the scene went to black I jokingly thought they'd end it there. And they actually did. What the hell. There needed to be more and less in the episode. Less dragging of scenes and snippets of scenes that take away time, and add more scenes instead. Scenes with meaningful dialogue and plot.
  21. I think the Olenna in the carriage scene was very important. Seriously. They waste money on that? Don't they all complain how expensive shoots are, especially with horses? They need someone that keeps track of where they spend their budget.
  22. such story. many wow. But +1 for the Chanel/Ikea sponsoring of the wedding. Tough times for the Boltons, but a wedding is a wedding.
  23. Exactly. To be fair, Dance came out when the show started, but I think a big problem of their writing, which is at some points pretty good, is the lack thought of the future. They don't think their scenarios through. The invented penis scene in 310 was pretty well done. Very epic how Asha planned her rescue mission, nicely played. Really showed the feelings they had for Theon, but then, even after a wonderful build up, they kinda forgot about it and never acted it out. They just smashed the Domino rows they set up instead of letting each piece fall after another. Just a mess then. Also Stannis. 310 makes big build up, then in s4 he forgets about it initially and only in the middle they find the post it note on the fridge "Ah, right, 'Wall', that's what we wanted to do" Same with other stuff. Wonderful build up for horrible ends. When they can, they can write really really good scenes and catch the atmosphere, the vibe. But then they bring in ten times more bad scenes that don't make sense. And their neverending character development respawn. Jon Snow. Every season ends with him liking the wildlings and understanding them and in the next season he hates them again and has to learn to love them again.
