  1. It’s possible that the reason why Ned got so upset at the deaths of Rhaenys and baby Aegon was that he already knew or suspected that Lyanna might be pregnant with Rhaegar’s child, and that the same thing could happen to her own baby.
  2. Doran himself says that Dorne is incapable of winning a war on their own, which is why he has been so cautious all this time.
  3. Plus, wasn't Tywin a teenager when he "dealt with" the Reynes and Tarbecks? That's a completely different level of messed up.
  4. To be fair, I don't think he threw his lot with them. He was simply trying not to offend the most powerful family in the realm, especially given that Tywin was alive at that point.
  5. I'm sure people have watch parties for pretty much anything these days.
  6. I guess it would mean that Ned killed one of Catelyn's uncles at the tower of joy.
  7. As someone else pointed out, honeyed locusts isn't the type of food that Dany would enjoy.
  8. There was no guarantee that Dany was going to accept Quentyn's marriage proposal, though. That was quite a risky move.
  9. Although didn't Jace and Cregan become friends almost right away in F&B?
  10. I think Ned not keeping a closer eye on Roose Bolton over the years also qualifies.
  11. Could it be that they simply needed a villain for the show’s Northern storyline, then?
  12. And given that nothing on HOTD happens without GRRM's approval, this is curious indeed. There is a theory that the Others/White Walkers awakened long ago in the Land of Always Winter, but didn't make the long way to the Wall until the GoT prologue. But now it seems like they've been around the Wall for more than a century.
  13. It's hard to make conclusions without knowing more about the characters. One might as well assume that Darkstar is the way he is because his mom didn't buy him that Green Day album when he was 13.
  14. Back in 2002, GRRM said that Littlefinger would run into trouble soon because for all of his scheming, he doesn’t actually have an army. Obviously, a lot of time has passed since then, so we don't know if any of that is still in play.
  15. @Ran Do we know how lord Walter Whent and Catelyn's mother Minisa Whent are related? If they were siblings, then it would mean that Catelyn had some pretty close relatives on the opposite side of Robert's Rebellion.
  16. When Ned arrived at the Tower of Joy, he couldn't have known that Lyanna was going to die. So whatever plans he had must have been based on the assumption that she would live. What could those plans have been? Would he put both her and the baby into hiding somewhere?
  17. Although The Lies of Locke Lamora was Scott Lynch's debut novel, while GRRM had been an established author for many years by the time AGOT was published. Maybe Sanderson's The Way of Kings would be a better comparison?
  18. Sansa has never lacked intelligence, but has been incredibly naive. Over the course of the story, she has slowly gotten rid of her naivety and is now becoming a player in the game of thrones.
  19. This image of Norvos reminds me a bit of the War Phra Kaew temple in Bangkok. https://awoiaf.westeros.org/images/c/c5/FM_Norvos.png
  20. I'm not sure I agree on this one. Ramsay might be just as cruel, but he is way more pragmatic in his cruelty than Aerys was.
