  1. So, apologies if someone said something like this already but I'm not reading 23 pages: I think it's very likely that LF wants Harry to win a spot on the Winged Knights, and even if Harry's a super talented jouster, LF is not a man to risk it. He probably ordered Brune and Corbray to get rid of all the gnats, as Sandor would say, and to do everything in their power to make sure Harry and other guys from other important Vale houses end up winning, including throwing a duel. Hell, LF probably arranged the order of the lists himself so that the final round ends up being Harry vs Brune. Brune loses on purpose, Harry wins, the Vale nibility cheers and loves him, he crowns Sansa Queen of Love and Beauty and everything's perfect. Except that I think Brune is going to do the unthinkable by going against LF's orders, beating Harry into the dirt and declaring Mya Stone QoLaB. And that will be the first nail in LF's coffin, as he loses one of his two most trusted pillars, the other being Kettleblack Senior who's probably salty about all three of his sons ending up in the Black Cells while being LF's double agents. Other than them, in terms of personal security, LF's got...who? The Mad Mouse has obviously his own agenda, Ser Byron looks like a random fool who could be seduced by Alayne in under five minutes. So that leaves that other knight, whatshisface. That's it. Which means LF would be vulnerable to, say, a Royce coup, engineered by Myranda, for example. She'd totally throw LF and Alayne under the bus if it meant "getting rid of the enemies of the Vale" and having a shot at Harry. Then LF would get fucked, but Alayne maybe escapes/gets kidnapped by Shadrich and taken to his real prince: Aegon.
  2. At this point it'd be easier to redeem Ramsay. Dorne was the biggest turd I've seen on tv in the last years. It makes Qarth look great.
  3. The "Darkstar's blade was poisoned" theory suddenly got some clout. But holy fuck, was Dorne the literal worst thing ever or what?
  4. Well, fuck. I still don't have to like it, even if it comes from GRRM, though
  5. Free blow job to whoever gives me the YouTube link where D&D say Shireen dies! That's right, free blow job! Thank you!
  6. Damn right! And just like that, just with that teensy tiny bit of dialogue between Dany and Tyrion, Tyrion's aDwD storyline is officially better on the show. You had ONE job, GRRM, and now D&D did it for you. All is well.
  7. Barring all the Winterfell shit, this episode was pretty decent. Kind of reminded me of season one in that a lot of stuff went down in one go. Also: Tyrion and Dany. That is all. D&D went and stole that moment from GRRM. It's gotta sting.
  8. But we don't even know if she takes Jorah back, we don't know if he survives, we don't know if and how they'll meet again. For all we know Dany flies directly to Westeros, no pit stop at the Dothraki Sea At the risk of eating crow later, I say they killed Selmy so they could give part of his Meereen chapters to Tyrion
  9. The Unsullied are the Banana Guards of Meereen. Seriously, what a useless bunch of red shirts. And the real-life Unsullied at NeoGaf are already hatin' on the Sand Snakes, as they should.
  10. Love how the Unsullied are calling bullshit on that cliffhanger, as they should. It's obvious Jorah means Dany (and it doesn't make sense, but of course, he's in wuuuv, so whatever) The Long Bridge was nice, but I miss the Red Temple. I think they needed to show the huge scope of R'hllor's religion and how Dany has the support of the masses. One red priestess won't cut it, even if she's the actress from "The Wolverine"
  11. 1) I've always pictured him like Alfred Molina. I imagine he always looks tired, breathing heavily, speaking softly, and he moves like a much older man, fragile, grimmacing, like always enduring pain, and sometimes dozing off, when the milk of the poppy kicks in 2) I think Siddig looks younger, stronger, healthier, more attractive than my mental image of Doran. Like, with more presence too and fiercer. He's closer to how I imagine Oberyn, actually 3) It's awful to say because I watch a lot of tv/movies, but when I think about it I only really remember him from "Da Vinci's Demons", and I thought the role was a bit too "Orientalist cliche" for me, but he was good in the role. And I think the Martells also suffer from some Orientalization/Othering anyway 4) I only watched the original cast annoucement where Siddig is like on a plane or something, and he just said he was playing Doran, and that's it
  12. I honestly can't get over the fact that our intro to Dorne this season is via Loras' dangerously cancerous-looking mole Honestly, if that shit is shaped like an independent kingdom you should have it checked by a Maester ASAP
  13. Apparently she's going to be someone called "Commander Lyme", which rings zero bells for me despite having read the novel Oh, in the film "Shadow Dancer" there's Aidan Gillen and Michael McElhatton and they share a couple of scenes, if I remember correctly. Made me go: "Littlefinger and Roose! Littlefinger and Roose! Shit just got real!"
  14. Gethin Anthony (Renly) is going to play Charles Manson in NBC's upcoming Aquarious, opposite David Duchovny From the AV Club: "After all, Renly Baratheon was able to assemble an army of loyal followers based solely on his charisma—just like Charles Manson—and he was later killed by a magic shadow baby—also like Manson. "
  15. I'd rather take a digest version of ASOIAF than a sprawling and meandering one of which the author has clearly lost control Gotta feel sorry for book editors. I didn't know their work was so reviled nowadays
  16. This is true, but the two battles are depicted differently. Blackwater is basically just a huge single attack. Sure, there's a bit of preparation earlier, but most of the action takes place in one day/night and then is done. That's why dedicating an entire episode to it worked so good. But the battle of the Wall is the Battle of Castle Black first and then a siege that lasts several days. That's why I think it could have been better to spend several episodes in this battle rather than blowing their wad in one go Plus, Blackwater features several main characters, while this one not so much
  17. Yeah, but it won't have quite the same effect, I feel. And there's gonna be a shitload of showstopping moments in the next episode that will steal his thunder. I mean, would the ending of "Blackwater" would have been as great without Tywin and the Tyrells showing up? Personally, I don't think so On the whole I thought the episode was great, but I think they really should have spread the battle throughout the season instead of doing it all (or most) at once
  18. Fuck this shit! They killed Pyp and Grenn! Also, I never thought I would be rooting for Alliser Thorne to kill Tormund Giantsbane Styr or whatever his name was fought like a beast! He was awesome Overall the episode was pretty good. Shame about Stannis, though. Showing up next episode won't have the same effect Also, I NEED Melisandre to burn that fucking owl next episode! That's like, her most badass moment ever
