Poll: Has Brienne Become a Wight?

Haha! I like that. And you're very gracious to say so..... I did take it as pedantic and I almost responded that I had really meant this, just to be a smart ass: A lot of people in here are pedantic for no other reason ( there ARE certainly some good reasons/arguments to be) but to try and "shame" the other poster. You seem really cool though. Thanks again.

Poll: Has Brienne Become a Wight?

Obviously, you understood my meaning. You're welcome, and thanks for the interesting poll.

Poll: Has Brienne Become a Wight?

I wasn't aware of this theory, and nearly choked on my lunch when I read the title. I was thinking a white wight. Although it is an intriguing theory, I'm saying No.....can't buy in.

What is the dumbest house Sigil/ coat of arms.

Maybe.... but you may not know that it is a shout-out to guitarist Zakk Wylde, a fellow Bayonne, NJ native like GRRM. The sigil is a shout-out to the design used famously on many of Wylde's guitars, though most well known in black and white. If I had to guess--I'm sure that they have met before, and perhaps GRRM was gifted a Wylde guitar in the colors "ugly blue and way to bright yellow". Pure speculation though.....

What is the Illyrio Barristan connection?

Yes......I had forgotten about the "cloth dragon" in HotU. Very well reasoned, and thank you for bringing that up. I have to agree.

What is the Illyrio Barristan connection?

@Lord Varys and @bent branch On the subject of why Barristan was sent to Dany as opposed to Aegon, I think it is worth bringing up that it is well documented that the story has grown in the telling. IF..... you subscribe to the fAegon/Blackfyre theory: The first mention of Blackfyre doesn't occur until aSoS, and by that time Arstan/Barristan is already with Dany. Thus the whole idea of an Aegon/fAegon wrinkle in the story could not have changed the fact that he was already with Dany. If you don't subscribe or think that theory holds any weight, then I suppose this post is worth less than that last shit you take as you lie dying. I just thought it was worth mentioning.

MIA - but not Killed on Page

Love this!.....Tyreek, it rhymes with sly-freak. Also worth mentioning that "wet nurse" has learned how to glamor himself a Summer Islander. Pretty impressive!

What is the Illyrio Barristan connection?

And I totally agree with this. You have some very good points there. I don't think it would be easy for him to disguise himself, and at the harbor, even more so. I'm just saying it is possible considering an example like plucking Aerys from the Dun Fort. It's worth pointing out. I certainly don't want to get into a "it's possible because, 'prove that it is not'" type discussion. That goes nowhere. To me it is likely, as I said, that he was aided by Varys, but unknowingly.

What is the Illyrio Barristan connection?

Yeah it is a weird debate....and not much merit except to say that "you are wrong" as Sigella has clearly pointed out. I'm sorry I brought up the damn point, for all the foolery involved. That particular comparison was made to suggest that it was possible that Barristan could have made it through all his time in KL undetected and made his way onto a ship to Pentos all by himself. Not to discount any arguments that he was steered (likely) or aided knowingly (unlikely IMO) by Varys. Back to the point...... If anyone cares to weigh in.

    Poll: Secret Stark Knights

    Answering the poll: No

What is the Illyrio Barristan connection?

I think it pertinent on the Barristan arc subjec to bring up that he is "Barristan The Bold". His younger exploits such as being a mystery knight gave him his name from early on: So he was "a bold boy", and a bold knight-as referenced with his infiltration of the Dun Fort. But his character changed. The "bold boy" became what he was as the man who we referenced, a man of unfailing honor. But even in his honor, in fact took Robert's pardon. We do see here some slight of the iron-clad honor that he is portrayed. He witnessed Ned Stark's head taken off at the sept of Baelor. A seemingly equal man of honor, lost his head on the whims of a sadistic cruel boy, the same one that dismissed him from a life-long oath of service. He also witnessed slights to his name and honor repeatedly to his face: I would put forth that there are a number of factors besides what @Lord Varys discussed as his character arc, that would make it seem that he has come full circle in his arc.

What is the Illyrio Barristan connection?

Ok, so Aria with some help from Yoren are more cunning than Barristan? If that is your argument, we are at an impass. That seems ridiculous to me. "Quick and easy in and out"--Infiltrating a castle under imminent seige? Listen to that. I don't want to be mean, but that is silly.
  13. Wolf of the Steppes

What is the Illyrio Barristan connection?

Yes. @Hugorfonics, as we discussed earlier, there is an arc in Barristan's character to this point, as @Lord Varys pointed out. You may not agree, but his actions seem to be proof.

What is the Illyrio Barristan connection?

So, someone who can infiltrate a castle under imminent siege single-handedly can't "fly under the radar"? I didn't say he was a faceless man. Does he need to be to find his way onto a ship to Pentos? Even with the security in KL at the time? No. Arya, a 10 year old girl stayed undetected approximately the same amount of time in the city without being found and walked out of a guarded city gate. Yes, in disguise with the help of Yoren, but are you going to claim that Yoren was more cunning than Barristan?

The Night’s Watch and the Gift(s) don’t make sense

Ok. I'm sorry. I just don't understand your point. No hard feelings
