  1. It appeared as if the writer re-racked the Clegane Bowl. I think the demonstration of how to kill a wight was foreshadowing to Sandor killing his undead brother. My own personal prediction is that Sandor kills Gregor with Valyrian steel, Heartbane to be exact. Sam has to give it to someone and the Hound is the likely suspect.
  2. 8/10. The Wall falling was spectacular, LF's end was satisfying, but Cersei's machinations were predictable and tiresome. It feels like the writers are really stretching Lannisters' role out to keep Lena Headey and NCW involved. That's not all bad, I suppose.
  3. When it happened,I thought it was Rhaegal but Twitter is saying Viserion. So much for the dragon having three heads...Jon gets his daddy's dragon
  4. 7/10. The plot teleporting was too egregious in this one. The NK's Game of Thrones skills were pretty impressive, though
  5. Aerys, Rhaegar, and Aegon were alive when Rhaegar left the 3 KG to guard Lyanna. So they weren't protecting "the King". And if Rhaegar left them to protect a bastard, they would have done so.
  6. Another thought about Drogon and Jon: It could make you re-think the scene from last season where Tyrion removes the collars from Rhaegel and Viscerion. I assumed they didn't roast him because they wanted the collars off. But perhaps they, like Drogon with Jon, recognized Targaryen blood in Tyrion.
  7. That note has to be the one Sansa sent to Robb telling him to come south and bend the knee. LF is trying to get Arya to go after Sansa which he thinks he can foil and solidify his position. So is it looking like Gendry will get the Stormlands while Sam will get the Reach? And who knew that it would be Drogon and Gilly who would give the reveal that Jon is a true Targaryen?
  8. 8/10 A good setup for the final two episodes. It also casually dropped the HUGE reveal that in the show's canon Lyanna and Rhaegar were married making Jon legitimate
  9. Arya fought in a style Brienne was completely unfamiliar with. Brienne was also holding back to begin with. Arya also learned her lesson fighting Sandor and do didn't try stabbing an armored opponent. She evaded until she saw an opening. I didn't find it anymore ridiculous than when she changes her face. The girl had a training from Hell and is now a badass with a Valyrian steel dagger. I also suspect Brienne will be more wary when they duel again.
  10. First great episode of the season, easily a 10. The battle was incredible and there was some real dread as you weren't sure if beloved characters were going to make it out alive. I don't think I was this nervous watching a tv show since the first season finale of True Detective.
  11. 7/10 I liked the Dany and Jon parts because it was more realistic that they would not fall in love at first sight but instead be wary of each other given their families history. Tyrion and Davos both played their roles well. I also liked the surprise that it was Bran showing up at Winterfell instead of Arya and it makes sense: Bran was a lot closer to Winterfell than Arya. But what I didn't like was the again near omniscient ability of Euron Greyjoy to find Dany's fleet and destroy it. Okay, fine, it happened as well as the Lannister army marching all the way to Highgarden undetected. It takes time for a fleet to sail around Dorne so the Lannisters had time to reach the, er, Reach. But if time is burning this quickly then how the fuck are the White Walkers STILL marching on the Wall. It truly has become like the South Park episode where the Black Friday shoppers/zombies are slowly, so slowly, marching on the Mall/Wall. Even in the books it beggars belief but this episode just really struck a nerve with me. ETA: I did actually like Cersei's monolgue and actually did think her punishment to Ellaria was fitting. Ditto The QoT's fate and that even in death she got the last word. Very fitting if bumming. Cersei is winning but The Iron Bank Will Have It's Due
  12. It has to be common knowledge that Varys freed Tyrion, who then killed Tywin. What was it that The Red Viper said, it was rare to find a Lannister who shared his desire to see other dead Lannisters? Besides, Ellaria already took a Lannister life to avenge Oberyn: Myrcella. In fact, it might be Tyrion who wants vengeance now, not Ellaria.
  13. I don't know if that's true but as of now, she's sitting the Iron Throne by right of conquest. She's burned her enemies and there is no one to oppose her...in the capitol. Outside of King's Landing she has nothing but enemies and perhaps only the support of House Lannister and the crownlands. She might've had the Freys but chances are they are about to start fighting amongst themselves for who has the better claim to the Twins and Riverrun.
  14. Actually, there's precedent. Tywin threatened the Queen of Thorns with naming Loras to the Kingsguard unless Loras married Cersei. It seems it's something that may not be able to be refused.
  15. Well then, that will depend on Jaime being in Cersei's good graces. If Jaime disagrees with her with next acts ( she often sees disagreement as defiance) she could order him to re-take his office as Lord Commander. Hand of the King is out of the question because Qyburn was wearing the badge of office when he crowned Cersei.
  16. Yup, Starks and Arryns in the North, Targaryen, Martell, Tyrell, and Greyjoys in the South. And now that we mention it, a Lannister is sailing with Queen Dany and he has a stronger claim to Casterly Rock. These days, regicide and kinslaying ain't what they used to be!
  17. I had tears well up in my eyes twice this season. The first time was during the Hodor reveal. That was was a heart-wrenching gut-punch. But tonight it happened when Dany named Tyrion Hand of the Queen. I just found that so amazingly heartwarming and Peter Dinklage absolutely nailed that scene. So much to digest but my biggest takeaway is how utterly screwed Cersei is. She has 2 great houses aligned against her in the North* and FOUR great Houses about to land in the South along with 3 dragons. I have to believe her only move is align with Euron Greyjoy with marriage alliance. Helloooooo, Valonqar! *Sansa and LF's jealous looks near the end have me worried. I recall why GRRM created Sansa...family members often don't get along.
  18. When Jaime returned to KL, i was about to say "Why is the Sept of Baelor still burning?" but then I remembered "Oh yeah...wildfire" Time is still fuzzy but those are quibbles vs. great loads of greatness. This was a 10/10 and I honestly was shocked how good it was.
  19. To me it was just a taunt like "I'm in your head". In other words, she'll always think of him and what he did to her.
  20. 10/10. Poor tactics and an enemy army arriving undetected aside, an absolutely rivteting hour of TV. Haven't felt that nervous watching a show since the season finale of season 1 of True Detective. Heart was racing.
  21. The North does care about the Starks, but as was pointed out, not Snows or Lannister/Boltons. Nor do they like an army of Wildlings south of the Wall.
  22. 7/10. Jon and Sansa teleporting bothered me a lot, as did Arya being gut-stabbed and walking it off. I did like Al Swearengen's Hippy Commune and The Return of the Hound. I also LOVED the scene with Lady Olenna calling out Cersei. That was fantastic. Still, probably my least favorite episode of the season, along with The Red Woman. By the way, where was she?
  23. Well, YMMV. I thought season 4 was by far the best season and season 2 by far the worst. I understood the reason for the focus on the docks with the overall theme of the drug/$ flow throughout the season but found the Sabotka storylines pretty meh. But I digress, The Door's faults were not enough to spoil what I found to be one of the best hours of TV I've seen in awhile. Right up there with "Hardhome" and "Who Goes There", "Form and Void" from True Detective.
  24. So you loved season 2 of The Wire?
  25. 10/10 I thought it was an outstanding episode. I was pleasantly stunned to learn the secret of the Children/Others. I thought Emilia Clarke nailed her scene with Ser Jorah. Bran's mistake and the consequences matches well with other events of the books , especially the deaths of Bloodraven, Summer, and poor Hodor. People are complaining that the showrunners killed Summer and Hodor for a cheap shock...well what the Hell do you think constantly happens in the books? Characters make mistakes and they quite often face ghastly, shocking consequences. Sansa twice betrayed her family and lost her wolf and then her father. Robb bedded a girl while betrothed to another and that led to his death, his mothers, his wolfs, and the fall of his House. Cersei was hoisted by her own petard and had to take a walk of shame through the city. GRRM has long talked about what he hated about comic books...there was never any real lasting damage. The Human Torch shot fire at people but never really burned anyone. Wonder Man died but then he comes back to life a few issues later. The whole reason he created and then killed Ned Stark was to completely avert those comic book tropes. His books have bad stuff happen to the main characters, lasting stuff. Main characters, greatly loved characters, have died. While a few characters have pulled a Wonder Man, it seems they have not come back wholly who they were. Honestly, if you are one of those that is mad at the show for doing this, you probably shouldn't read the last few books. GRRM has called the ending "bittersweet". If he's saying that, I suspect that there is going to be a VERY high death count among the main characters.
