  1. Oh I couldn't agree more & for the record I didn't change my vote. People can rate anyway they choose & I will do the same. My issue is exactly yours only the opposite way. People rating at 1 to bring the curve down. Not dying everyone who rated 1 did that (although like I said before I have a hard time understanding who would continue to watch a show they hated) but some of them are undoubtedly rating lower than they would have because they are irritated with the 9's & 10's.
  2. Gotcha. So where in the show does that happen? Other than traveling not taking as long as it should. How would you have improved on that? I do agree with a poster above that talked about being consistent with it. If it takes one person in the show an episode to travel somewhere it should take another person traveling the same distance roughly the same amount of time. All the nonsense about the horse transforming itself & blah blah is just that. Nonsense. It doesn't matter how many extraordinary things you make up or how you talk down to me; it won't change the fact that nothing like that has happened on the show. I didn't say anything about having elements of fantasy justifying bad writing or bad decisions. If you think D&D have some poor writing &/or some bad decisions I would probably agree with you. But we weren't speaking of things being bad decisions, we are talking about whether or not something is realistic.
  3. I didn't say there were no rules. Where in the show do things like you mentioned happen? One of the things I see people griping about is that it doesn't take long enough to get from place to place. That Jaime couldn't have gotten to Dorne that fast etc. Well, how are they going to show that with out being miserably boring for one & for two show watchers don't know how far away Dorne is. These are changes that were necessary to put aSoIaF on screen. As for your questions about would I like this show or that show if this or that happened. Idk. I'm not a big fan of James Bond to begin with so maybe I would like it better that way. I'm not getting your argument here anyway. That is no less realistic than Dragons, magic, wargs, & direwolves...
  4. Gotcha. I guess I'm just not disciplined enough because I could not sit through a show I hated. To each his own though.
  5. Why do you continue to watch? I'm seriously not trying to be a dick I'm genuinely curious as to why you continue to watch a show that you think is so bad? I think True blood is horrible. I watched an episode or two years ago & just really hated it. So... I quit watching it.
  6. I want to change my vote to a 10 to counteract some of the 1's. Seriously 1? I wouldn't sit through a whole episode of something I would rate at a 1 & if you didn't watch the whole thing you have no business rating it. I think the biggest problem is that we know what is 'supposed' to happen or what could have happened. The argument that this or that just isn't realistic cracks me up. None of this is realistic... Its fake, fantasy, fiction. My unsullied friends have thoroughly enjoyed the season so far. That's not to say they don't critique the episode & find things they don't like. My sister seriously laughed at the fight in Dorne. That was pretty bad. But the rest of it was pretty good. Some parts better than others. Good in different ways like Arya & little girl, that was sad, Tyrion & Jorah scenes a little comical, a little frightening. Theon/Sansa/Ramsay repulsive, maddening. My point is the show elicits emotion. All sort of emotions. That's what a good show is supposed to do. To rate it a 1 seems as if either you are a book purist & cannot stand the fact things have changed or nothing ever will make you happy. Of course that's just my opinion. Feel free to flay me for it though...
  7. Really? I haven't enjoyed the Braavos scenes up until this week but you seriously don't think Maisie is a good actress?
  8. 8 I would've given it a 9 but the Dorne stuff is so horrible! I enjoy the chemistry between Jaime & Bronn but that is it. The sandsnakes are cheesy. The fight scene was ridiculous. I'm on the fence about Trystane & Myrcella. Other than that great episode. Arya rocks as always. Maisie is hands down one of the best actresses on the show. Alfie is amazing. I feel Reek's emotions just like when I read the book. The Sansa/Ramsay scene was hard to swallow but it's actually less than I expected. Dinklage is great. Jorah/Tyrion scenes were great especially with the slavers. Kings Landing was good. I wish QoT would've bit back at Cersei a little more but I suspect Cersei's time is coming. Another amazing actress BTW. Lena is not who I pictured as Cersei orginally but she owns it. Best part of the episode? No Brienne & Pod! just kidding ... Kinda. Sad we didn't get any of the Wall this week but glad things were slowed down a little.
  9. Player or not she knows not to make it so apparent that she hates them. She parroted courtesies to Joff & Cersei back in KL daily to stay alive & then sat at dinner with the Boltons & made her feelings very apparent. She is smarter than that. Anyway I disagree about her being a player. She may die eventually but I don't think it will be in the tower.
  10. Ahh I don't even know how to rate the episodes anymore honestly. I haven't rated it yet so I'll try to do some tallying here. Good: - So much is different I really have no idea how some of the story lines are going to play out. - Greyworm is alive - Tyrion, Jorah, Valyria, & Drogon - Jorah merging with Jon-Con is a nice touch, I liked Jorah finishing Tyrion's speech, Tyrion seeing Drogon was great & Valyria looked amazing. The Stone Men fight was decent also. -Jon Snow! - Kit is phenomenal this season. I love every exchange between him & Stannis. Tormund & Jon standing eye to eye after Jon called him a coward was great. Jon & Aemon were decent but not my favorite scene. -Davos & Shireen - who doesn't love Davos & Shireen? -Roose & Ramsay - the story about Ramsay's mother was good. Ramsay is such a nut. I enjoyed the glimpse of Walda also. Not sure about: - Selyse, Shireen, & Mel going south with the guys? Strange choice. I can't see Stannis ever doing that. Maybe Mel with her whole speech about what happened last time but his wife & child? No way. We will see how it goes. -Dany feeding the noblemen to her Dragons. I just don't know. It didn't get her anywhere. No one spilled the beans on the SoH, hell no one even asked them questions so what was the point? Didn't like: -Barristan is dead. Pisses me off. No who will lead the battle? Jorah grey-scale Mormont? That's ok I guess. I'm just mad Barristan died. - Dany deciding herself to marry Hizdahr?! Wth? Just because? Because that will unite mereen? Whatever -Sansa - Sansa is smarter than to make her disdain for the Bolton's so apparent. Also she has come so far to just be back in the same basic predicament where she is humiliated for others enjoyment. I don't like it at all. -No Arya again. Even though I haven't been particularly intrigued by tHoBaW she is still my favorite. -Brienne & Pod - ehh. So I guess all in all I liked more than I didn't. Still not sure what to rate though.
  11. That gives us about an 8 average for the season so far yeah? Maybe a little under 8
  12. 9 out of 10 Best episode so far IMO Once I got over the fact that the show is not going to follow the book I've found it much easier to enjoy the show. What I liked: Bronn - he is a great character & a great actor. I enjoy his scenes even though I don't particularly enjoy his storyline ATM. High Sparrow - again just phenominal acting. Great for the part Stannis & Shireen - Aw! Dillane proves his worth every episode. Jon - telling Mel "I love another" Sand Snakes - I'm not sure they did anything particularly great I was just excited to see them Sansa - I am really excited to see what happens with her. I originally assumed she would replace (f)Arya & obviously to a point she has but maybe she will fuck Ramsay up. That would be great. Barristan & Dany - Emilia is doing great this season. I think she is a decent enough actor when she has something to act with. Barristan - Kicking some Sons of the Harpy ass! Things I didn't like: Mel with her boobs & trying to sleep with Jon. Didn't we already go through this with Stannis? HBO has to meet their boob quota some how I suppose. Tyrion & Jorah - I am usually the biggest Tyrion fan girl but just wasn't impressed with him this episode. He didn't do anything wrong exactly, just didn't get much of his spunk I guess. Bronn & Jaime storyline - the acting is brilliant & they have great chemistry but I just don't think sending Bronn & Jaime to Dorne was the best move to make. Ellaria - I don't like that she is the one 'rallying' the Sand Snakes. They are the Sand Snakes for gods sake they don't need rallying. The whole scene could have been done just as well if not better with out Ellaria. The faith - going all psycho cutting people up every where? I have a hard time understanding how the High Sparrow would back that? The whole situation with them is strange. ETA: Barry getting knifed. Bad move I think. If he lives it seems unreal. He was stabbed like 3 times. If he dies I'll be pissed. Laziness on D&D's part. He is crucial to the story & his part is not done yet. Idk maybe they can rectify it.
  13. Good episode. Gave it a 7. It didn't feel as rushed as the last 2 episodes so that's a plus. I was a little uncomfortable with the Margaery/Tommen sex scene but I think that's only because I know how old Tommen is supposed to be? :dunno: The wall continues to be great. (I didn't like it much last season) Kit is doing amazing, Dillane & Kit have a dynamic that helps both of their characters IMO. I would be lying if I said it didn't disappoint me to not have "Edd, fetch me a block." (Do we still have Edd?) At least we got Dillane's nod of approval. I think a poster above mentioned that Jon should have said something about the white walkers when refusing Stannis & I couldn't agree more. Other than no Ghost (where is he?) The wall was really great. Not sure I'm a fan of Sansa marrying Ramsay. I guess I will have to wait to see how it turns out. I am excited to not know what is happening next. Theon is a phenominal actor, no lines & still acts the hell out of his scenes. No Harry the Heir I presume but what are they going to do with SweetRobin? tHoB&W was better this episode but I'm still kind of bummed out about it. Maisie is great as always but I really, really don't like the Kindly Man being Jaqen. Tyrion & Varys were good. They always are. I didn't really understand Tyrion not being able to go with the whore though, isn't this the part in the book where he kinda forces his self on one? Brienne & Pod are always my least favorite but I don't have much to complain about them this episode. Actually now that I've read my own review I think I will bump it to an 8. ETA: forgot about the High Sparrow! He was great!
  14. Couldn't agree more. Show Mereen is turning out great. On a side note was I the only one pronouncing Doran in my head as Dor-un rather than Dor-an with a short a sound?
  15. 8 More exciting than last episode Things I liked: Sansa being all regal Dorne! The NW election (Especially Aemon casting the last vote) Jon & Stannis Kevan telling Cersei "You are the queen mother, nothing more." Shireen teaching Gilly to read Daario, he is really growing on me Dany & Drogon Bronn & Lollys  The Slayer calling Janos out & Maester Aemon laughing at it :lmao: Things I didn't like: Dany killing the former slave :( tHoB&W Arya is my favorite & I love seeing Maisie on camera but the whole thing in Braavos was weird Pod & Brienne I was a fan of them in the books but I don't like them on screen Ellaria demanding vengeance... Should have been the sand snakes Jaime going to Dorne... Wait... What? Maybe this will pan out decent but for now I'm not digging it
  16. Solid 8 IMO Loved Tyrion as always Jaime & Cersei were good Margaery: "Perhaps." ! Loved it! The flash back was amazing. I disagree with the poster above about the Jon/Mance scene. I think Jon was a good negotiator. What else could he have said? Mance kneeling would have been preposterous. No Arya this episode :( Brienne & Pod: I don't know I just don't like them together. The Vale scene was ehh.
  17. I have a feeling this thread has been abandoned or not checked in a while because nothing has been added to the OP in a while.
  18. I thought Hoster was talking about Tansy on his death bed because it was the Tansy Tea he made Lysa drink to have an aborition. Thus all the jabbering about 'all the blood' and whatnot.
  19. aren't there 6 or 7 parts to the great northern conspiracy ? where can I find the links to the rest?
  20. Of course there will be changes. I think we just expect for those changes to: A. Make sense B. Be remotely comparable to the book C. Be entertaining to watch For me a lot of the changes have not done this. When you know how amazing this episode could've been it's a great disappointment to watch it. There are changes made for no apparent reason. They add things, taking up valuable screen time that have no point in the story line while removing things that were very much needed. They add things that make absolutely no sense. The Hound & Arya have all this vast land to cover but some how manage to cross paths with Brienne & Pod? (The two of them alone had the potential to be quite the dynamic duo but just haven't been given the script they could have) Bloodraven could've been done so much better. The whole scene with the Pirates of the Caribbean skeletons & light grenade throwing CotF was cringe worthy at best. This is HBO for God's sake. I don't buy for one second they don't have the budget to do what is necessary to make this show amazing. Instead they spend budget money on bomb throwing pixies (leaf should have looked way cooler too) They kill off characters they don't need to just for shock value I guess. Apparently they don't understand that the book has enough shock value as is. It really was beautifully written by a genius of an author IMO & D&D fall miles short of the talent GRRM has.
  21. Gave it a 6. That's being nice. I was so underwhelmed & disappointed with this episode I do not even wish to speak of it.
