    Skagos - Rickon and Davos

I believe they will set Rickon up as a slightly more rounded character by the time we meet him again. He will be still a very young child, obviously, but I believe the evil reputation Skagos will be turned on its head, and that they may be more help than hindrance to the Starks moving forward. They also have a lot of dragonglass, so...
  2. A Song of Ice and Fire rose to popularity and fame in good part due to George R.R. Martin's disregard for the traditional good-and-evil and black-and-white dichotomy found throughout the fantasy genre. Instead he focuses on shades of grey and moral ambiguity, showing that there is sympathy and kindness as well as cruelty and hate on both sides of any given conflict. In the largest internet forum dedicated to his works, however, you will find most of the fanbase seems not to have noticed. Instead they are far more interested in orcs and elves. They are heroes all in gold and white fighting monstrous goblins who care for naught but destruction and suffering. Perhaps this shouldn't be an ASOIAF forum at all? Perhaps a Chronicles of Narnia theme, or any other such children's story, would better reflect the attitudes and sensibilities of the users here?
  3. Awful lot of brainwashed folks crammed into 2 pages of a thread...

The Ultimate Winds of Winter Resource

Wouldn't say no to that either.

The Ultimate Winds of Winter Resource

Even if TWOW takes another 2 years until it's completed, having Fire & Blood come out late 2018/early 2019 would be a nice way to pass the time. I wouldn't be very bothered by the wait for Winds if that is the case.
  6. I don't think I have ever hated a novel character as much as I hated Janos Slynt. Something about him and Ser Alester really got on my nerves (in a good way, in that GRRM wrote them well). I was beyond happy to see Janos beheaded. For some reason, I don't even hate Joffrey as much as I hate Janos.

Video Games: It's On Like Donkey Kong

I have really been getting into Crusader Kings 2 lately. Game has been practically eating up my life so I've had to take a short break. Really is an incredibly fun game. Current campaign as the Grand Chief of Saxony in the Charlemagne DLC. Managed to subjugate all of Denmark and some sparse counties around the Baltic, as well as taking over all of Pomerania and taking bits of Poland. I feel like such a god.

    Andrzej Sapkowski II

Witcher is the perfect word. It's unique in that it gives Geralt, the world, and novels their own identity. Plus Witcher is just a cool word. Wish I had thought of it first

    Andrzej Sapkowski II

Is that the story of Geralt's mother and (alleged father) fighting against Vrans? Would love to read that. The story of Geralt's mother healing him is one of my favourites, so it would be great to read more of her.

Thanks for the heads up! Will keep an eye on that.

I'm very interested to try out Kingdom Come: Deliverance, once I read some more reviews. Will be very interesting to see a game that is serious about being historically accurate. It will be a nice change of pace from just another fantasy game (not that there is anything wrong with that - I love fantasy games.)

Boarders Writing a Novel Part 15

Anybody else try out the Snowflake Method? I've always had a hard time with plot, but after spending a month using the SFM, I've got to say I'm very, very happy with what I've come up with. Now I'm writing the first draft and just having a blast. Now that the only thing I have to worry about is the scene I'm writing, the work goes by much faster. I have a spreadsheet with every single scene in the novel listed out, and at a glance I can work out pacing, when to foreshadow, when I need to add more conflict, etc. Everything is so much easier.

    The Witcher on Netflix.

I'm just hoping we get to see Borch Three Jackdaws On that note: what part of the books is everyone most excited to see on-screen?

I think Nikolai could pull off the Geralt look and portray him pretty well. And Michael Fassbender could work too, IMO.

    The Witcher on Netflix.

It seems most likely to me that they will base the show off of the short stories. That is unless they signed up for a 5-season deal for them to successfully cover the main series, though I am not sure exactly how common a 5-season deal for something of this sort is. Also, count me in as one of the people that doesn't want Madds Mikkelson as Geralt... I don't know, he just doesn't seem very Geralty.
