  1. I'll give it a try. These are capsules with powder inside - if I understand properly, as long as she gets most/all of that, it'll be good. She's in okay/good condition. I didn't let the infection/inflammation really get going and start causing broader issues. The antiseptic spray is probably helping keep the incision clean (previous vet told me to wash it with warm water, no other agents. Also got some cleaning wipes to at least do a rubdown bath. The cartoonish stink lines have disappeared, though I still want her to get a good sudsy bath.
  2. I have always tried burying pills in treats or meat or smth. She finds them and pushes them out, even while she's chowing down. It's actually quite impressive for a creature without fingers or thumbs Settling for gifting her favorite foods and treats after, so hopefully she associates "dad's gonna make me do this thing...but hey, free chicken!"
  3. Unfortunately, there isn't much recourse. One side-effect of my career taking me to some interesting locations is that some of those locations don't offer much assistance to non-locals in disputes. Virtually no chance I would be believed if officials even bothered to listen to me. (Sorry for the vagueness about location but no one can know my secret identity ) Best I can do is spread it about to people I know and make sure others avoid the place. I do get a weeklong wrestling match with the monster, as I need to force-feed her antibiotics twice a day. Should be fun and hopefully no damage done to either party or our friendship. More pics once I get her groomed. She needs a bath and a trim, neither of which can happen until she's healed up. Thanks again for advices, which is totally countable.
  4. Just returned. Yep - they were shocked when I said it had been 10 days. The previous vet let it get infected and their after-care instructions were definitely inaccurate. Sorta gross: My girl isn't going to like the antibiotics nor the cleansing spray, nor the wraps...but she'll get better. Thanks to everyone here who pushed me towards the vet. I was on the fence and the push over was needed and it was very very obviously the right call.
  5. Thanks for the replies. I've contacted my primary vet and am trying to get my dog there today. The only reason I changed vets is that my main one recommends this other one for difficult surgeries. While my main vet does do spaying, I thought "well if they think the other place is better for major surgeries (albeit more expensive), then I should probably go for them, too, for the best care." And now I have a coned-up dog 10 days after her surgery, with the incision still obviously far from "healed." They'll probably tell me I'm worrying over nothing. But better that than incessant mild panic on my part or a worse alternative of letting something slip by unchecked.
  6. Thanks for the replies. The cost was perhaps part of their rationale - I wasn't happy to pay it. They did send updates, so I know they did the surgery when they claimed. Sadly, the aforementioned language barrier is because I am a non-local and some see my kind as... take-advantage-able. The cone def seems necessary right now. She clearly wants to be scratching/licking/getting at the healing incision. My previous vet is still an option for a check-in. Doggo doesn't like going there, though, and she's had a rough 10 days and I don't want to subject her to that unless it's necessary.
  7. Anyone with experience caring for their furbaby post-spaying? I just got her back after an 8-day stay at the vet... it took 7 days for the wound to stop seeping. It's still red and ragged and hurts her. I was given an ointment to rub on it, but that obviously causes her a lot of pain and the language barrier made it impossible to know what it is supposed to do. The internet tells me "don't touch/rub stuff on the wound while it heals," but the vet says to? I shouldn't have gone away from my normal vet. This one was rec'd to me by an animal lover with lots of experience bringing animals in. But my experience is way different. I want to help my girl recover. If that means hurting her with ointment, I'll do it...but at this stage, I think I want other experienced opinions.
  8. I am so sorry, Larry. You gave Darcy the best life she could have had and gave her all the love she could handle - she sounds like she was the bestest girl. Hug and a scotch to her memory.
  9. Think I got it? This is her at her near-calmest. Sometimes she's completely asleep, which is moderately calmer.
  10. I became a dog dad back in February and it has been quite the experience. Keyleth is an eternally-hopeful monster that has boundless energy and fully believes every human is her new best friend. Uncertain how to link photos...I have nearly zero social media presence and on the little twitter acct I have, zero pics of her. Is there a random upload site I can use? Anyway. She will always believe I am going to share my food with her (I literally never do this) and she will always believe there is, somewhere, one more snack or bit of kibble...just as long as she sniffs long enough, she will find it. How did I live without her? Also...how is a fuzzy twelve-kilo beast who cannot talk managing to direct so much of my life?
  11. Love Taskmaster! I agree about Daisy May Cooper. She just didn't seem like she wanted to be part of the show. Like she couldn't be arsed to try the tasks or to react to/care about the points. Recency bias: Loved Season 8. Iain Stirling was soooo into it (maybe too much?). Loved that level of commitment, but also reflection. Sian Gibson and Lou Sanders were ducking hilarious. Paul Sinha was also great. And fun tasks. Loved it. Asling Bea was fantastic in her season, but she's just always awesome.
  12. Very much agree. I was just excited and wanted to get really into the role-play. The two other players were a bit more about getting through the quest, getting stuff done. I adjusted. I think I was less clueless than I feared. Having watched CR so much, I think mechanics and general gameplay basics weren't too awkward. I did avoid a heavy spellcaster class because of being new, though.
  13. Had my first DnD session recently. I really enjoyed it! It's certainly different from watching the "pros" do it on the Youtube. I struggled a bit to make sure I wasn't overdoing it. I wanted to get really into the roleplay. I worried I was involving myself too much, even though I think my character would have done the things I had him do. I had to remind myself that I must shut up from time to time give everyone a chance to react to situations, too. I like having a different kind of DM from what I am used to watching. DM did things I didn't expect, approached things in different ways, and it made the game a lot more fun (even when it frustrated me). Want more.
  14. Thanks, Relic. I'd love to stop in at some point, but yeah...that's 1 AM for me. I would be a zombie every Wednesday.
  15. What time are the sessions? I'm interested...but also a newbie and in a time zone that may not work out
  16. I understand, BW. I am a very independent person and I can only imagine how I would feel if I were circumstance-dictated tied to a living situation that inhibited such. I hope the COVID vaccines roll in and you can find something soon. Best of luck on the teachering cert! I got mine a bit back and it is really nice to have that box ticked.
  17. I agree with Pebs - there is nothing wrong with living with parents. Many people do it for decades at a time. It's not a big deal, especially in financially difficult times. It wouldn't work for me and mine, on account of the subsequent death. But other people like their parents and their parents like them?
  18. NHAW was pretty dope. I hope those pics are destroyed. I still have the hat. Golden Age had to have been 2009-2011 or so (for me). Prior to that, I didn't have internet in the home
  19. I know. It would be easier if our school were in-person. Since we're online, every scatters to locations I don't quite want to make public
  20. I am currently watching the recent episode on Youtube. I have their Twitch subscription, but the timing rarely works out for me. Then this came up and I felt I had to post. I like the group a lot and yeah, they focus a lot on role play. I love when they do stupid shit that they meta-know will work out badly, but in-game it seems to make sense. They also don't do that all the time, which is fine. It is still a game and should be fun. Some of my new coworkers are interested in DnD, too, and we've talked about starting a campaign IRL. However, everyone's time/place is really messed up right now and it's hard to get on the same page.
  21. I've never played but have wanted to for years. I did a bit of Earthdawn back when I was a teen and two sessions of DnD in high school before other friends decided it wasn't for them. Now, I spend a lot of time watching Critical Role. If anyone signs up for DMing, I'd be interested in joining if the time different works out (I live in SE Asia, GMT+7).
  22. Yes, it's happening to me, too. I am also getting redirected, though I didn't pay attention to what site it was. I am glad...err... not glad, but it's... whatever, it's not just me. I will try to get screen shots and URLs next time it happens. (Chrome, Windows 10)
  23. Welcome, Anth! The Board's good times. Lots of friendly people and lots of entertaining reading :) Viserys in the av? I don't see many of him around. He seems...unpopular. Bold move  Spoiler for the end of ADWD:
  24. Welcome, sir. Please enjoy the Board. Please remit 24 bottles Hunter's Dry and 5 kg braai as payment for your continued entertainment.
  25. Hallo Ser Andrew Simmington from Scotland! Have fun around here, we're all prone to nerding out over this universe. :)
