  1. Oh yeah, definitely, though book 3 does have a lot of "wtf is going on???" towards the very end, but maybe that's me. Many parts of Harrow are still inexplicable to me. I get what the hell was happening but many of the finer details are blurry. Need to reread it apparently.
  2. I've felt this way through both books 2 and 3 and I enjoyed them, though not as much as Gideon The Ninth. Honestly, "kinda bonkers" really undersells book 2.
  3. Aw fuck, I skipped the debate as I assumed it would be a largely dull "I expected that" sort of affair ie bringing no new information or perspective on these clowns to the table. Guess I may have to watch a stream of it somewhere if it was actually worth the time to do so. Great...
  4. I understand that BG3 is in the zeitgeist at the moment, but it feels far too early to be putting that on a list like this. Let it marinate for at very least a year, let alone a month. Especially on such a long ass game. As for Mass Effect, I am very conflicted on it. While I definitely agree with Wert on ME2's shortcomings, if I had to pick one game from the trilogy that was the most deserving of being on a list like this, it would be ME2. I do love ME1 quite a bit for the world-building and story and ME3 for the gameplay, neither one really feels like they come together fully in the end in a way that ME2 does despite it's pointless story digressions that really help to derail the trilogy in the end. On the Legendary Edition, I could certainly see it belonging on the list, if not as high as it is, but I really need to play the whole trilogy again first. It is very much a journey before destination type of game (and it really depends upon how much you judge the destination the game arrives at in ME3...), but man is it a journey. If I had to absolutely pick one, I would go with the Legendary Edition, but if ME2 replaced it, I wouldn't care much, but both should be knocked down a few paces to somewhere between 23 to 25 or so. I'd quibble on the placement of a couple of others (Disco Elysium at #1? It's really good, but greatest RPG of all time good?) but it's a really solid list, IMO.
  5. "I swear I was flushing all of this cocaine down the toilet because the sewer gators said they were having a party this weekend!"
  6. I was wondering wtf I missed when I watched this episode...
  7. Oh I am well aware. Like I said, it's a fucking world we live in here. How dare you fact-check my joke about a restaurant that causes uncontrollable shitting. Too far, sir, too far.
  8. It's a real fucking world we live in when MTG is the "classy" one out of the duo. But I guess we shouldn't expect any more from someone who once owned a bar named "Shooters" whose food made customers.... um uncontrollably "shoot" from their nethers.
  9. I mean, looking at that first season, even though this was said in jest... you're not wrong.
  10. It's getting to be that time of year again, so I made a big pot of chili tonight. Chorizo, three kinds of beans, five kinds of peppers, a bottle of beer, garlic, celery, and a bunch of tomatoes from the garden. Turned out pretty good and now I have dinner for the next week or so and maybe some extra to freeze.
  11. Eh, Brand has been running an anti-vaccine grift for a while now and has been getting boosted a bit by intellectual luminaries such as Ben Shapiro lately. And, as stated, his commentary isn't limited to just UK Politics. He's very definitely a dipshit who's dipshittery is not limited to national borders.
  12. I'm guessing Armstrong is still remaining in character when he says this so I would take this with a grain of salt. EDIT: My bad. Got Jesse Armstrong confused with Jeremy Strong (who plays Kendall Roy) so you can all ignore this. Leaving this up for posterity sake though and so you can all laugh at me and my failures.
  13. Hey, I don't understand how one can deep fry a stick of butter and put it on a stick. It's either science... or magic. So either Iowa has a surplus of scientists or wizards. As someone from Illinois, I'll take either. Our claim to food fame is taking pizza and making it more bowl-shaped so either one of those would be an upgrade.
  14. I thought Iowa's "thing" was scientifically experimenting with which foods can and cannot be successfully deep fried.
  15. Yeah, I don't mind the visual style of the rolls, but speeding them up would be very nice.
  16. What, you're just going to let them learn about it on the street?
  17. That was okay, but the fact that I don't really like musicals means that anything other than cringey or terrible is a straight up compliment. The Klingon scene was kinda funny though.
  18. Disagree on TFA. While I did like it at the time of its release, JJ's sloppy writing, worldbuilding, and tendency to rely on mystery box bullshit in that movie was a problem the other movies had to and, in many cases, failed to overcome. It's one thing to write by the seat of your pants and figure things out as you go, but if you're setting up mysteries, maybe figure out where they're going to. The movie is also absolutely filled with random conveniences and no sense of scale for how big space actually is. Maybe this is an issue with the other writers, but considering these are issues that plague other JJ Abram's works, I think that it's fair to blame JJ for that. As for George Lucas, yeah I never hated him either but it sure seemed like a lot of the SW fans on the internet did. Yeah I don't hate Solo. It sure is a bit of a needless film, but it was fun. Not great but certainly not as bad as its box office performance and much of the internet might think.
  19. No, no, no you see, space wizards are serious business. How can you not see that a movie series containing Ewoks is about serious and deep themes? I have the action figures to prove it!
  20. Regardless of her faults and failures running SW, I love how the hate for KK has utterly and completely supplanted the hate for George Lucas. Pre-2015/2014, seemingly no one was hated more by SW fans than George Lucas, mostly for the overall poor quality of the prequels and the needless and constant revisionism of the special editions. I was very, very much one of these people... still am honestly. Well, correction, I don't hate the man, but I don't really like much of his work anymore. Now? George Lucas is some sort of auteur and the prequels are good now and Kathleen Kennedy is too busy counting her money while force lightninging SW to death for funsies. Seriously, SW fans have the memories of gnats and MUST have an evil Dark Lord to rail against for the injustices done to their favored franchise. Also, sorry, but the prequels are suddenly not good. They are still just as much poorly acted, poorly written, ugly CGI fests now as they were when they were released. Also also, hot take, JJ deserves just as much blame for the poor handling of the sequels as KK. Dude should never be allowed to write or plan out a story ever again.
  21. I mean, 90% of TNG that is good is a direct result of people throwing Roddenberry's directives out the window or, at best, ignoring them as much as possible. TBF, Star Trek 3, Star Trek 6, "Heart of Glory" and "A Matter of Honor" also did a lot of work laying the ground for what Klingons would become in "Sins of the Father" and onwards. Each one being an incremental step away from how they were portrayed in TOS. But yes, "Sins of the Father" is a pretty big step there.
  22. Well, clearly, before Musk bought Twitter, Dorsey didn't really seem to care about the societal harm being caused by Twitter and other social media so it's entirely possible he may actually, truly believe that, as insane or idiotic as it is, because it perpetuates his overall beliefs about society, speech, and/or wealth. So less "idiot" and more "self-interested piece of shit."
  23. It's not. It's X-tortion actually. Honestly, Twitter getting renamed to X has proven to be fertile ground for some of the laziest most low grade humor imaginable, and by god, I will take advantage of it.
  24. Some fucking Voivod right now. Listened to this album years and years ago but it never made an impression. Now? Goddamn what have I been sleeping on all these years?
