  1. No. Ser Vaemond had been the son of the elder of the Sea Snake’s brothers. Five other nephews, sired by another brother, had claims as well. When they took their case before the sick and failing Viserys, they made the grievous mistake of questioning the legitimacy of his daughter’s children. Viserys had their tongues removed for this insolence, though he let them keep their heads. Three of the “silent five” had died during the Dance, fighting for Aegon II against Rhaenyra . . . but two survived, together with Ser Vaemond’s sons, and all came forward now, insisting that they had more right to Driftmark than “this bastard of Hull, whose mother was a mouse.”
  2. @Rhaenys_Targaryen Some points from the errata page: Alyssa Velaryon is said to have been forced to watch her daughter Rhaena Targaryen's wedding to King Maegor I Targaryen in 47 AC, which did not happen as Alyssa had fled beyond Maegor's reach by that point. I think you can also see the statement as a way to say that Alyssa had to suffer the marriage and could not intervene. The spring at Maidenpool is described as being inside a spa-like structure in Fire & Blood, while it is described as a bare pool in A Feast for Crows. Although apparently a contradiction, the author decided to keep the descriptions as they are. Cities change, so I would not place it in the errata. Corwyn Corbray is referred to as "Lord Corbray" (US hardcover, page 634) despite only inheriting his brother's seat after his brother's death at a later moment. I think Corwyn never inherited his brother's seat, it was his nephew Quenton. The US version of Fire & Blood states that Prince Daemon Targaryen was twenty years old in 101 AC, which is incorrect as he is known to have been born in 76 AC. Daemon was born in 81 AC. I remember there was an issue with Daemon's age, but it was not that one. And Martyn's father Mandfryd was the son of Addam.
  3. Corlys was the son of Daemon's eldest son, and Corwin is listed as Daemon's eldest son, so I think you can consider it confirmed. If you still do not think so, you can create two Velaryon trees, one from Daemon (I) to Corwin and one from Corlys to Daenaera.
  4. Now there is one page for House Broom and another one for House Broome. @Ran I think you mentioned the issue was raised in your notes, so can you clarify what to do with the Brooms and Broomes?
  5. I think we need some consistent agenda for the coat of arms on the wiki. There are a lot of cases where the weapons on the house page look different from the ones on character pages. I guess user @Abjiklam put a lot of work into the design of the svg weapons, but in my opinion he followed real life heraldry too much when he used depictions from actual weapons, although GRRM created his own rules. The Citadel presents a lot of weapons which are approved by GRRM, and I think we should follow those ones more accurately. So if these svg weapons have some advantage ( I seem to remember something about the images being displayed in a better way), I think the weapons should be revised a bit to adjust them.
  6. Once I raised the issue here as well. The app states they are knights sworn to Highgarden though. Maybe they sided with Daemon Blackfyre.
  7. @Rhaenys_Targaryen Since the calculation thread was closed for some reason, I am putting it here. Seven years ago Ran stated the year of birth and year of death for Lyanna Stark. I do not know if this is enough for you to replace the calculations, aber I guess you could use it at least as support of them.
  8. Something else: I think the file pages of FFG images need to be revised. Here is an example. " Posted in the "Card Guide Wiki" under the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike License" is true, but that does not mean it is right as well. These images are copyrighted and must not be used under CCA for sure, so that needs to be removed. Furthermore, "The original picture can be found on" often leads to a website (of the artist or of FFG) where the original picture can not be found. In this cases the sentence needs to be removed as well. I know that would be a lot of work, but at least the copyright situation needs to be set right.
  9. I agree, it should be removed. I think adding such a section should have been discussed before doing it anyway.
  10. The Ice and Fire Campaign Guide lists them under the King's Landing section, as well. So I guess the wiki needs to be changed.
  11. What is the source for the statement that House Rambton is sworn to House Sunglass?
  12. I guess this is the simplest solution, but then there is that quote: His followers were largely westermen and river lords; the Lords Tarbeck, Piper, Roote, Vance, Charlton, Frey, Paege, Parren, and Westerling were amongst them, joined by Lord Corbray of the Vale, the Bastard of Barrowton, and the fourth son of the Lord of Griffin’s Roost. The Parrens are listed among the lords from the westerlands and riverlands. If they actually were a house from the Reach, they should be mentioned in the "joined by" section.
  13. So what to do with House Parren? The corrected version of The World of Ice and Fire states that the house was founded in the Reach, while the Citadel makes them a house of the westerlands. Now there are two possibilities: Either the Parrens were founded in the Reach and are still there, or they were founded in the Reach, but at one point they switched to the westerlands.
  14. The World of Ice and Fire states that Ceryse was Martyn's daughter, so there is an inconsistency there. Ran is trying to fix this for Fire and Blood.
  15. Oh, I actually thought that someone really changed it all over the wiki, but apparently that is not the case. So yes, I do not think that the wiki needs such a category. Is it not the same with Category:Ironborn?
  16. Some time ago someone decided to go with culture instead of origin. I am not really sure on the reason, but I guess it is somewhere in this thread.
  17. "Gawen is a good man, but his wife is Sybell Spicer. He should never have wed her. The Westerlings always did have more honor than sense. Lady Sybell's grandfather was a trader in saffron and pepper, almost as lowborn as that smuggler Stannis keeps. And the grandmother was some woman he'd brought back from the east. A frightening old crone, supposed to be a priestess. Maegi, they called her. No one could pronounce her real name. Half of Lannisport used to go to her for cures and love potions and the like." (A Storm of Swords, Tyrion III)
  18. The Princess and the Queen states both and So was Byrch captain at the Old Gate or the Iron Gate?
  19. @Jaehaerys-III Since you are here right now anyway: You added a lot of houses in the infobox of the Battle of the Blackwater page, despite some of them (like Osgrey and Inchfield) are not mentioned in the main books at all or at least not in the context of the battle. I don't think that we should state your assumptions (as solid as they might be) as facts.
  20. Just start a new thread, similar to the calculation thread of Rhaenys. You'll get a pm from me regarding the German wiki soon.
  21. I didn't find any source that Valyrian steel was created with dragonfire, but maybe you have more luck.
  22. These statements are based on the TV series. If there is no canon source for that, it should be removed.
  23. Is Vulture's Roost a ruined castle or still intact? On the map in the wiki it's marked a ruin, but not on the map uploaded on the website of Random House. Do we have further information?
