  1. Neither Sauron nor Saruman were working towards the greater good by the end of the third age. Sauron never, and Saruman not after about the middle of third age or so. As for evil not bringing about good, "Oft evil will shall evil mar" is literally in the text.
  2. I hope GRRM got paid for that little graphic. Totally an Iron Throne homage.
  3. Also working on the latest Murderbot myself.
  4. My keyboard ran out of H's and A's. Biden was a corrupt mediocrity when he had what passed for his fastball. (Senator from MBNA was from the left. He hasn't gotten cleaner since then by any report, but Biden still won the most ballots in US history. God bless our fair elections!) The winds seem to be blowing that Biden is about to get thrown overboard so I can't wait until you and I are on the same Biden was bad page. I understand @mormont that we don't agree politically. But if you think Biden is of sound mind, then I have to either question how you view reality or where your shame line is as far as deception for the cause goes. If you don't need to eat, drive, heat your home, or protect yourself then mayhaps Biden's appeal grows. Also @mormont what's the sharpest thing Biden has said in 2023? Just curious. Sounds to me that at least 10% of Dem reps think they have to face fair elections in their home district. Or at least don't want to go on record for supporting genocide of Jews in an election cycle.
  5. I might be interested, will know more in a month or so. Almost certainly going, just haven't figured out dates and flight and yet, but want to make decisions soon.
  6. I worked for a year or so as a teen at a bakery in my home town. Grew up on their Danish, rye bread, babkas, and Italian bread, and still really enjoy them 10 years or so later. Approximately. Just reading the title and first post is bringing back some smells. And also, congrats to Marty who owned the bakery when I was there, saw he made a hole in one this year in his retiree league. I should bake more, other than some corn bread, haven't really done much the last couple years. No longer dating gluten triggered poopie problems, so really I should get off my ass.
  7. I think the first part means you're getting along far more than just fine and are negotiating some terms. But who knows with kids these days? That aside, if you want to keep it sustainable, just fuck him a bit less than nearly senseless next time?
  8. You're still concerned. So not over. People may change. But almost always they don't. It comes down to a question of peaks and valleys, I think. It seems doctor hit a number of peaks. But wasn't very good on the regular day. Life will crap on all of us. Optimize your median plus days, and minimize your bad days. The right partner will help you do both. It's not a zero sum game, I think we all know that intellectually. But if you're going to be with someone, and they aren't trying to make you happier, then that's just toxic.
  9. For the record, who did @Jace, Extat actually sign to contracts?
  10. In the spirit of Halloween, it's cold gin time again. Just wish I could wake up fresh like I used to. Always hydrate.
  11. My brother and I sat in the front row for a WWF match back in the day at Muzzy Field (where Aaron Hernandez later on did most of his best high school work, as it happens.) And Hack Saw Jim Duggan's spittle landed on both us. We thought it was cool at the time.
  12. Probably looking at arriving around Sunday/Monday and thinking a few days before for distilleries and sight seeing. Probably fly Aer Lingus from Bradley/HFD and connect through Dublin. Working with @Cuellar to coordinate, the more the merrier.
  13. Well there seems to be at least one person in this thread that feels that's a good idea. Ultimately it's all up to you but your friends seem to all be saying next.
  14. So I have a pair of boots about ten years old from a supposedly solid maker. Whatever compound they used to attach the sole to the boot failed. What's the best adherent to reattach the sole? Want my boots back for our KISS costume at the Halloween party.
  15. Idk. He gets the ball out faster than anyone playing now. Lies damn lies etc but seen at least on analysis that said Tua gets it out about as fast as Brady and nearly as fast as Marino. Not a perfect analogy but reminds me a bit of Gretzky. Anticipation and decision making skills aren't as easily measured as size or speed. Except by results. If Tua has a bunch if top 5 seasons in his future then this would be much less a hot take. Miami's OL has leveled up to middle tier so that helps too. After years and years of trash. Maybe I'm just a fan boy.
  16. He's still a top 5 qb from that draft. Tua is the greatest a 2 yard dump offs ever!
  17. I'd say take a week or three. When I broke up with my girlfriend last year, not actually expecting to, I realized over the next week or two that my instinct pretty much aligned with where we actually were. I found it helpful to take some time for resetting myself to my own expectations. (coming up with half a GRRM quote about fashioned for love here) Summary suggestion is let it go, and give at least some time for something to happen more organically. There's probably always a tension between standards and wish list, but as long as you trust your own instincts, I'd tell the matchmaker to give you a bit, while you do your own thing. Unless you're ready for @Tywin et al.
  18. Maybe it's just the social media tendency to post towards click bait but I ve seen, perhaps the most egregious I wouldn't know for sure, takes that said this is just decolonialism.
  19. Fairly sure Ran was talking about the economic growth side of imperialism not strictly the might makes right. Go back and read the full post again?
  20. The media is totally establishment owned. Ingrained bias. Unfortunately, only about 10% or less of the House Republicans are actually for the median person. Most of them are Vichy squishies. I'm sure grandma Garland will only allow the fair application of justice.
  21. IDK, there are a couple of pretty good disc golf courses out that way, and one kind of awesome one on a ski mountain where the last hole you're dropping about 700 feet of elevation. Plus Mayslacks is solid.
  22. It's a big club but you ain't in it. Actually once "Carlin big club" returns nothing cromulent then we re definitely in a balls to the wall censorship regime.
  23. Not sure exactly, but we got an air bnb in Dublin for 6 of us or so and it was grand, so also look at options near the convention center.
