I think that spent a fair bit of time with Lady Glover while occupying Deepwood Motte. She seems to have been more than civil to her considering she was a captive. So, she may have heard of the ways of the North from Lady Glover. Or she was more worldly because of her sailing. It's not as if the Greyjoys kept to themselves. I believe they did a fair bit of reaving and trading and must have known something of the cultures of the rest of Westeros. They looked down on the ways of mainland so they must have known how they were different from the mainlanders.

Looks like the avatars are crashing now. Is there some new requirement for them? I tried to change mine and it wouldn't take it or give me an error message and I have seen that others who previously had them don't any more. ETA: ok..looks like at least my old one is back. and now the new one is up. That was a quick fix! :)

I agree. Plus, he is a sellsword... So people may take what he says as a truth or lie as it best fits their purposes. And he would lose the opportunity to take her back to KL as I am sure some one more noble would do it himself or put a stop to allowing a gently born maiden/noblewoman from being taken by someone such as him.

That's along the lines of what I was thinking. Didn't Roose pretend that his men got captured by Lannisters so that they could be taken into Harrenhall and eventually be set free to take over? (I know Arya and Jaqen sped that plan up, but I always thought that was the plan.) That would be an excellent way to take Winterfell. If the Manderly men help Stannis, it could work.
