Roddy Darwin #41 Posted July 9, 2014 Hey guys, I never hang around on this side of the board because I never had the chance to go to a con, but I just recently moved in to the UK so... I'm not too sure you guys care for newbies, but just in case, I'll try to attend both Loncon and this one!
Pebble #42 Posted July 10, 2014 we love fresh victims new people. Don't forget to make yourself known to people when you arrive. And be warned some of us are known to give hugs without warning.
Ser Knight Somerville #43 Posted July 23, 2014 I've booked the 09:10 Virgin train from London, with the connecting ferry arriving Dublin Port at 17:25, Wednesday 20 August. Eagerly looking forward to the Con!
Alytha #44 Posted July 23, 2014 I'll arrive in Dublin by ferry on 21st August, around 14:00. Anyone want to hang out or possibly go to the museum of archaeology with me? :)

Pentapodichi #46 Posted July 24, 2014 Not that it does a whole lot of good in the above cases but I work in the airport, so happy to meet people if they arrive through that port. Otherwise, I'll see you in the evening/weekend. :)
Alytha #47 Posted July 25, 2014 I'll leave through the airport, in case you have any time to hang around ;)

Alytha #51 Posted August 6, 2014 Great :) I'll arrive at Dublin Port, which shouldn't be too far from the hotel if the map isn't misleading.
Edda van Heefmstra Ruston #52 Posted August 7, 2014 Which hotel? The port is not as close to things as you might think, though I believe the Luas now runs down there.
Alytha #53 Posted August 7, 2014 The con hotel, Hilton something-or-other. I'll probably take a taxi there.
Ser Knight Somerville #54 Posted August 8, 2014 The con hotel, Hilton something-or-other. I'll probably take a taxi there. This is about the only logistic for me that I haven't yet set. Anyone know if the taxis accept a visa card? It has the chip and I called so the bank noted my account to not intercept transactions in Ireland.
Neal #55 Posted August 8, 2014 I'll be there, nothing like last minute plans :)

Edda van Heefmstra Ruston #57 Posted August 8, 2014 The con hotel, Hilton something-or-other. I'll probably take a taxi there. Best idea, probably. If you truly get stuck, there seems to be a bus that runs once an hour, on the hour, from the ferry port to the city centre proper (No 53, gets you to Connolly Station), where you can perhaps get a taxi more easily. The drivers should know when the ferries arrive, though, so you should be fine. Ser Knight, as Pod says, I wouldn't rely on a taxi driver taking a card. I would try to have cash, and -- if at all possible -- make change on arrival. Last I looked, taxi drivers are not legally obliged to carry change for a 50-euro note, even though many will. Neal, !!! Awesome. :)
