May1992
Check out "The Devil's Whore". It's a great miniseries. Thanks for the sugestion! Just watched the trailer seems good.
May1992
It's not medieval, but you should check out John Adams. One of HBO's finest mini-series. Thank you, Paul Giamatti is a very underrated actor. I'll try to check out.
May1992
Masters of Sex is a period drama set in 1957 so it's kind of getting close to your cut off point. But it's excellent, so I feel OK recommending it. It's about a pair of researchers attempts to collect scientific data on human sexuality, and the pitfalls both political and romantic that ensue. Great acting performances, interesting and original premise. Definitely worth a look. ST Thank you, I already have watched the first 3 episodes of Master of Sex, and is amazing until now. I didn't put on the list because is very early in the season, Michael Sheen is another actor that is very underrated. Thanks
May1992
Excalibur is a good movie with a medieval type setting. When I was a child used to have the VHS with this movie, is really good. Thanks for the sugestion!
May1992
I suppose Black Adder doesn't qualify ;)Otherwise, Masada was good.I Claudius maybe.BBC always is qualified. Just love that channel. Thanks for the sugestions, Ancient Rome is a fascinating time.
May1992
Arn: The Knight Templar. Just make sure you're watching the full version, which is either a 6 episode mini-series or 2, 2+ hour movies. There's also a version which cuts all the material together into a single, 2 hour long movie and butchers, if not outright removes, a number of the storylines. Avoid that version at all costs. Really liked the trailer, definetly in my watch list. Thanks!
Calibandar
I'll second John Adams, amazing series, definitely catch that.Same for Band of Brothers and the Pacific.Arn: The Knight Templar is a pretty decent film as well. For medievalesque series, my vote goes to Game of Thrones as well. I wasn't familiar with Peaky Blinders, I'm checking that now.

Martini Sigil
I loved Copper, set in 5 points Manhattan at the end of the civil war... the problem is that it was cancelled after 2 seasons and not everything was wrapped up. Same with Magic city, set in 1950's Miami... also cancelled after 2 seasons, but it wrapped up better....
Khal-a-bunga
In addition to many of those already suggested, I would add Carnivà le, a historical fantasy series set throughout the West/South Western United States during the Great Depression. Only two seasons long, and yes it was cancelled, but what's there is excellent (and, to be fair, the show does provide a satisfying resolution to what was supposed to be just the first act of three). There's information to be found on-line about where the story would have gone, and the roles that the various characters would play in the future, if that helps any. I'd also add Mildred Pierce & Magic City, if you haven't seen them. Beyond that, I think the majority of my additional suggestions have already been mentioned (Band of Brothers, The Pacific, Boardwalk Empire, Masters of Sex, & John Adams). There's also Hatfields & McCoy's (which I haven't seen, but have heard is good) and the upcoming Starz series Black Sails (a pirate show; first episode was directed by Neil Marshall, who also directed the Battle of Blackwater Bay episode for Game of Thrones). Carnivale looks incredible, thanks. Mildred Pierce is good I totally forget about that. Hatfields & McCoys is in my list, is good but not that good (I particularly didn't like the portrayal of Jonsie they turned him a romantic hero). I looking forward to see Black Sails. Thanks for the sugestions! Ps: Amazing avatar (one of the best movies ever)
