Tyrion's parentage

Recommended Posts

I don't think it makes sense. Since Tywin obviously really disliked Tyrion, why would would continue to keep him around if he's not really his son? Also, now that Tywin's own family has gained control of the Iron Throne, if he knows that Tyrion is a Targaryen he would view him as a threat to Joffrey/Tommen/Cersei's legitimacy. Tywin doesn't seem like someone to put up with such a threat.

Because acknowledging Tyrion as a bastard would besmirch Joanna's honor and prove to the world that he (Tywin) was cuckolded by the king. As long as the world thinks Tyrion is Tywin's younger son, he (Tyrion) has no claim to the IT.

The more pertinent question is why Tywin just didn't throw Tyrion into the sea or leave him out in the woods while still claiming paternity? This was common practice throughout Westeros for baby dwarves, so few people would criticize Tywin for doing so. My guess is that the MK would take it as an insult, or at best as Tywin thumbing his nose at the "hard lesson" that Aerys was trying to teach him, and Tywin was not yet ready to kick the conflict up to the that level.

Interesting theory...(SPOILERS) but I don't think anything will come out of it becuase by the end of the book Tyrion and Lemore are half a world away and I feel like they won't be seeing eachother again.
