Bakker XXV: A Few Questions

In the last thread UnJon brought up the Rectum Heresy.

Since some people are new here's the blasphemy, spat in the infidel's own words:

Nope. Normal Dunyain level slight of hand. He takes it out of her chest during the many hours of darkness. He hides it up his butt. His friends cut him down and wrap him in a blanket. He takes heart out of his butt, pretends to pull it from his own chest an holds it up in the air with an abracadabra.

If you look at the the text in White Luck Warrior we know that Kellhus was tied to Serwe. He would have to unbind his hands, somehow cut her heart free, and then stuff it up his butt. The reason the heart has to be in his butt is b/c as Wrath noted Kellhus is naked when cut down from the Umiaki tree.

Then, surrounding by tens of thousands of followers, he would have to somehow reach into his ass, pull out the heart, and THEN make it look like he pulled the heart from deep inside his chest.

The Truth stands before us yet some fools reject it - Kellhus performed a miracle by manipulating space-time. Some skeptics are so deeply wedded to their ideology they refuse to see.

Well, for now I'll just put myself in the group that thinks it was trickery but had nothing to do with pulling the heart out of his rectum. No offense to anyone, but that distracts from the issue. The more likely answer is that it involved some kind of sorcery, not sleight of hand.

But members of the SSpires were there as well. Elzearas, their Grandmaster, saw the miracle.

And assuming Kellhus could cast spells at that point - or had a member of the Cish helping him hide the magic - would both be stretches.

eta:

Some say that's where Conriya No.5 comes from.

Hahahaha!

The Ark still has power, right? The Golden Room demonstrates that.

So, clearly the key to destroying the Consult is to infiltrate Golgotterath and overload the reactors. Or wait, how much thrust do you think the Ark has? Maybe they could just get the engines up and running again and push Bakkerworld out of Orbit, hmm.

it did, 2000 years ago. Who knows what it's like now?

Especially since Aurax fucked up the Hyperquantum-TV so they only get the one creepy porn channel....Not that it hasn't been useful...

eta: In all seriousness I think Aurang is the dumber one. I know Jurble once hypothesized Aurax was the idiot brother but I think one of them has to be a master of utilizing the Ark's weapon race womb-tech.

Come now, that is hardly an obstacle. The way this series is written, things come about when they need to come about. Groundwork need not be established. Look at Mimara and everything she has done over the past two books. If Kellhus can teleport, then what he did with the heart is hardly impressive.

Faint, Kellhus didn't learn magic until TTT. And there was no mark. It was a miracle or it was sleight of hand. Callan, it was Serwe's heart not from somewhere else. The text says that. Also Bakker said that there was a draft scene that got cut, a conversation between Kel and Cnauir pre-Circumfixion, that would have clarified what happened (paraphrasing here). I doubt Kel told Cnaur that he was going to pull off a space-time miracle.

It was up his butt people. All that matters is mission.

Behold, what I did while this forum was down!

Verily, the most life-like and accurate depictions of Sranc and Bashrag ever created:

edit: And now we have Aurang with an Inchoroi space-gun!

And Shae!

These are pretty good actually.

That's not what the shield of Sil looks like, no?

An idea is that in the same way that blind men occasionally, under great emotional pressure, produce miracles (leading to the cish), Kellhus was under great emotional pressure at that moment (like, he aught to be dead, by his own estimate) and performed a miracle. It might not even have been Serwe's literal heart but one conjured.

You're saying that they did not open up Serwe's body to make sure?

Well, if the theory holds that Kellhus is unknowingly a Consult puppet, it stands to reason that it wouldn't be him behind the magic of the thing. Although I grant your suggestion is much funnier.
