Lady Blizzardborn
snip ...it is known that once you are reaching the end the writing becomes easier. Someone please tell my brain this. Lately the closer I get to the end the harder it gets.
Shaldun
I fear we won't reach the final book before we retire LOL I'm optimistic for 2015 and realist for a late 2016 release I hope it doesn't apply to me, I haven't started to work yet... I'm optimistic for 2014 release and realist for 2015 (summer or late)
kiasyd
Well, GRRM just announced that he finished his part of "the world of ice and fire" and the only remaining tasks are editing and art, so the expected release window is 2014 fall.I think this rules out 2014 for tWoW. setmyheartafire
I think GRRM is probably actually under a lot of pressure to get the books done before the HBO ending. I would be, and I think his publisher might push him too because it would likely be better to push out the end with the end rather than chance people HATING the end of the show then not bothering with the books because of it. If they release around the same time that's no danger.Just a business perspective.

Blutrabe
He says he still has Son of Kong (TWOW) sitting on his shoulder. That doesn't sound like he is done with TWOW.
kiasyd
He says he still has Son of Kong (TWOW) sitting on his shoulder. That doesn't sound like he is done with TWOW. Right, that's why I said this probably rules out 2014 for tWoW release. Now, I was thinking about this "Son of Kong" euphemism... If tWoW is "the son of Kong" what will be aDoS? "Zombie-Kong out from hell"?

Leobald Tallhart
I really can't tell if this is legit or not because (1) it is google translated and (2) the supposed interview is conducted by a Brazilian news website, but apparently GRRM told them that we shouldn't expect TWOW in 2014. He hopes that it will come out next year, however. Is there any chance of the sixth volume of the "Chronicles ..." out this year? GRRM: Next maybe year. I doubt this year. At this rate, there is the risk of the TV series exceeds the books? GRRM: I hope not. The season that will leave now corresponds to the second half of the book three. There are still books four and five. There are many seasons to come. http://translate.google.ca/translate?hl=en&sl=pt&u=http://oglobo.globo.com/cultura/george-r-martin-autor-de-game-of-thrones-eu-me-perco-nas-historias-11827505&prev=/search?q%3DGeorge%2BR.R.%2BMartin%2Brecomenda%2Blivros%2Bpara%2Bf%25C3%25A3s%2Bque%2Baguardam%2B%2527The%2Bwinds%2Bof%2Bwinter%2527%26hl%3Den%26noj%3D1 In the interview he discusses many other ASOIAF-related things as well for those who want to read it. Anarchosaurus Rex
Last night on his blog, GRRM announced that he "just" finished his portion of "A World of Ice and Fire," and that WoW remains one of several "monkeys on his back." This should disabuse all of us of the notion that GRRM is nearly done with WoW. He hasn't even been working on it full-time lately! GRRM is blessed with a gift for storytelling, but cursed with terrible writing discipline. To keep up with HBO, he needs to be finished with WoW by summer of 2014. That's not going to happen. The Human Abstract
I think any time in 2015 would be fine where HBO is concerned.

Just don't know how legitimate this source is. I'm Brazilian, and it looks quite legitimate - that news website is usually reliable and supposedly it's an interview conducted directly by phone with GRRM. In the interview he is asked when he will come to Brazil, and he answers that there are no plans to such travel because he cannot write on the go. There are many questions and all answers seems reasonable and coherent with previous GRRM statements, I don't see any reasons to think that tWoW estimate answer is fake. TheHouseHB
I always thought Summer/Christmas 2015 would be when Winds would be released. Hopefully now that George finished his part in World of Ice and Fire he doesnt pull a Dance and take the rest of the year off.
Anarchosaurus Rex
What I don't understand is how we can have AWoIaF before ASoIaF is complete. Won't there be things from WoW and DoS that will be excluded from the concordance?
