Shortening links

I've worked out how to c&p links,but how to you turn them into single words like "here" or "this"?Tia.

You mean like this?

without spaces.

Alternatively, type the text you want to link to, then highlight it and click the button with a picture of a chain and a + sign (below the text size), and copy the URL into that.

The others have explained the issue in general terms. Here is a post in an older Help thread that sets out how to do it in detail.

Go to the webpage you want to link.

Right click on the url in the address bar.

Copy the address in the address bar.

Come back to the post or sig you want to amend.

Type in the text you want to bury the link under.

Highlight the text you want to bury the link under.

Left click on the chain icon in the toolbar (on mine it displays under the 'size' dropbox).

A new window should open with a space for the url.

Right click and paste the url into that space.

That should see you right.
